كِتَابُ الْجَنَائِزِ
Book of Funerals

بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْمَوْتِ وَالِاسْتِعْدَادِ لَهُ وَتَرْغِيبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِيهِ
Chapter on remembering death, preparing for it, and encouraging the believers regarding it
2 بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي حُسْنِ الظَّنِّ بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَحُسْنِ الْخَاتِمَةِChapter on what is reported regarding having good thoughts of Allah and a good ending
3 بَابُ كَرَاهَةِ تَمَنِّي الْمَوْتِ وَفَضْلِ طُولِ الْعُمُرِ مَعَ حُسْنِ الْعَمَلِChapter on the dislike of wishing for death and the virtue of long life with good deeds
4 بَابُ فَضْلِ طُولِ الْعُمُرِ مَعَ حُسْنِ الْعَمَلِ وَفَضْلِ مَنْ مَاتَ غَرِيبًاChapter on the virtue of long life with good deeds and the virtue of one who dies a stranger
5 بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْمُحْتَضَرِ وَتَلْقِينِهِ كَلِمَةَ التَّوْحِيدِ وَحُضُورِ الصَّالِحِينَ عِنْدَهُ وَعَرَقِ جَبِينِهِChapter on what is reported regarding the dying person, prompting him with the word of Tawheed, the presence of the righteous at his side, and sweat on his forehead
6 بَابُ قِرَاءَةِ يس عِنْدَ الْمُحْتَضَرِ وَمَا جَاءَ فِي شِدَّةِ الْمَوْتِ وَنَزْعِ الرُّوحِ وَتَغْمِيضِChapter on reciting Yasin at the dying person's side, what is reported regarding the severity of death, the soul's departure, and closing the eyes
7 بَابُ إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ قَبْضَ عَبْدٍ (بِأَرْضٍ يَجْعَلُ لَهُ فِيهَا حَاجَةً وَمَا جَاءَ فِي مَوْتِ الْفَجْأَةِ)Chapter on when Allah wants to take a servant's soul in a land, He makes him have a need in it, and what is reported regarding sudden death
8 بَابُ مَا يَرَاهُ الْمُحْتَضَرُ وَمَصِيرُ الرُّوحِ بَعْدَ مُفَارَقَةِ الْجَسَدِChapter on what the dying person sees and the fate of the soul after leaving the body
9 بَابُ فِي أُمُورٍ تَتَعَلَّقُ بِالْأَرْوَاحِChapter on matters related to souls
10 بَابُ الْمُبَادَرَةِ إِلَى تَجْهِيزِ الْمَيِّتِ وَقَضَاءِ دَيْنِهِChapter on hastening to prepare the deceased and paying his debts
11 بَابُ تَسْجِيَةِ الْمَيِّتِ وَالرُّخْصَةِ فِي تَقْبِيلِهِChapter on covering the deceased and the concession to kiss him

13 بَابُ مَا لَا يَجُوزُ مِنَ الْبُكَاءِ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِChapter on what is not permitted regarding weeping over the deceased
14 فَصْلٌ مِنْهُ فِيمَا وَرَدَ مِنَ التَّغْلِيظِ فِي النِّيَاحَةِ وَالنَّائِحَةِ وَالْمُسْتَمِعَةِSection on what is reported regarding the severity of wailing, the wailing woman, and the listener
15 بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي أَنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِChapter on what is reported that the deceased is punished by his family's weeping over him
16 بَابُ الرُّخْصَةِ فِي الْبُكَاءِ مِنْ غَيْرِ نَوْحٍChapter on the concession for weeping without wailing
17 بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي نَعْيِ الْمَيِّتِChapter on what is reported regarding announcing the death of the deceased
18 بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْأِحْدَادِ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِChapter on what is reported regarding mourning for the deceased

20 بَابُ مَنْ بُلِيَ وَرِفْقِهِ بِهِ وَسَتْرِهِ عَلَيْهِ وَثَوَابِ ذَلِكَChapter on one who is afflicted, his gentleness with him, concealing him, and the reward for that
21 بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي غُسْلِ أَحَدِ الزَّوْجَيْنِ لِلْآخَرِChapter on what is reported regarding one spouse washing the other
22 بَابُ تَرْكِ غُسْلِ الشَّهِيدِ وَمَا جَاءَ فِيهِChapter on not washing the martyr and what is reported regarding it
23 بَابُ صِفَةِ غُسْلِ الْمَيِّتِChapter on the description of washing the deceased

25 بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ إِحْسَانِ الْكَفَنِ مِنْ غَيْرِ مُغَالَاةٍ وَاخْتِيَارِ الْأَبْيَضِChapter on the recommendation of a good shroud without extravagance and preferring white
26 بَابُ صِفَةِ الْكَفَنِ لِلرَّجُلِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ وَفِي كَمْ ثَوْبٍ يَكُونُChapter on the description of the shroud for men and women and how many garments it should be
27 بَابُ التَّكْفِينِ مِنْ رَأْسِ الْمَالِ وَجَوَازِ تَكْفِينِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةِ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَالِاقْتِصَارِ عَلَى مَا يَسْتُرُ الْعَوْرَةَ إِذَا دَعَتِ الضَّرُورَةُ وَاسْتِحْبَابِ الْمُوَاسَاةِ بِالْكَفَنِChapter on shrouding from the principal wealth, the permissibility of shrouding two or three in one garment, sufficing with what covers the private parts if necessary, and the recommendation of sharing the shroud
28 بَابُ تَكْفِينِ الشَّهِيدِ فِي ثِيَابِهِ الَّتِي قُتِلَ فِيهَاChapter on shrouding the martyr in the clothes he was killed in
29 بَابُ تَطْيِيبِ بَدَنِ الْمَيِّتِ وَكَفَنِهِ إِلَّا الْمُحْرِمَ - وَمَا جَاءَ فِي تَكْفِينِ الْمُحْرِمِChapter on perfuming the body and shroud of the deceased except for the pilgrim, and what is reported regarding shrouding the pilgrim
