(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ انْظُرُوا إِلَى مَنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَا تَنْظُرُوا إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ فَوْقَكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ أَجْدَرُ أَنْ لَا تَزْدَرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَلَيْكُمْ
(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Look at the one who is below you and do not look at the one who is above you in rank; this is more appropriate so that you do not belittle the blessing of Allah upon you.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … When a person, in worldly terms, looks at someone who is less than himself, it will become easy for him to be grateful to Allah Ta'ala and to understand the value of blessings. However, if he makes those above him his ideal, then he will be deprived of the blessing of contentment in his life.
