عَنْ جَمِيعِ بْنِ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ مَعَ أُمِّي وَخَالَتِي عَلَى عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَسَأَلَتْهَا إِحْدَاهُمَا: كَيْفَ كُنْتُنَّ تَصْنَعْنَ عِنْدَ الْغُسْلِ؟ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ وَضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ يُفِيضُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَنَحْنُ نُفِيضُ عَلَى رُؤُوسِنَا خَمْسًا مِنْ أَجْلِ الضَّفْرِ
Jameel bin Umair says: I went to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) with my mother and maternal aunt. One of them asked her: What did you do at the time of bathing (ghusl)? Lady Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution as for prayer and pour three handfuls of water over his head, but we, because of our braids, would pour five handfuls.
