Al-Fath ar-Rabbani 7592 — on What Has Been Reported Regarding Hunting
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّا قَوْمٌ نَرْمِي بِالْمِعْرَاضِ فَمَا يَحِلُّ لَنَا قَالَ لَا تَأْكُلْ مَا أَصَبْتَ بِالْمِعْرَاضِ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيْتَ
Narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi (may Allah be pleased with him): He said, I asked: O Messenger of Allah! We hunt with the middle thick part of the arrow, is that lawful for us? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever you hunt with the middle thick part of the arrow, do not eat it, unless you slaughter it yourself.
