Al-Fath ar-Rabbani 7490 — on What Has Been Reported Regarding Nabidh
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُنْتَبَذُ لَهُ فِي سِقَاءٍ فَإِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ سِقَاءٌ نُبِذَ لَهُ فِي تَوْرٍ مِنْ بِرَامٍ قَالَ وَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْجَرِّ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Nabidh used to be prepared for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a waterskin; when a waterskin was not available, Nabidh would be prepared in a stone vessel. And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade preparing Nabidh in vessels made from gourds, in hollowed-out trunks, in earthen pots, and in tar-coated vessels.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had temporarily prohibited the use of these four types of vessels, then later permitted their use.
