عَنْ أَبِي الْمُخْتَارِ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كُنَّا فِي سَفَرٍ فَلَمْ نَجِدِ الْمَاءَ قَالَ ثُمَّ هَجَمْنَا عَلَى الْمَاءِ بَعْدُ قَالَ فَجَعَلُوا يَسْقُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكُلَّمَا أَتَوْهُ بِالشَّرَابِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ حَتَّى شَرِبُوا كُلُّهُمْ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that we were on a journey, and there was no water available. Then suddenly we found water. The people began to give water to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Whenever they brought water to him, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "The one who serves water to the people drinks last." He repeated this statement three times, until all the people had drunk water, and then at the end, he (peace and blessings be upon him) drank.
