Al-Fath ar-Rabbani 7149 — Its Permissibility for Need and Dislike
عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ سَأَلَتْ زَوْجَهَا الطَّلَاقَ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَا بَأْسٍ فَحَرَامٌ عَلَيْهَا رَائِحَةُ الْجَنَّةِ
Mawla-e-Rasool Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Any woman who demands divorce from her husband without necessity, the fragrance of Paradise will be forbidden for her.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … If there is a valid Shar‘i excuse, then a woman may seek khul‘ (dissolution of marriage) or may demand divorce.
