Al-Fath ar-Rabbani 6585 — What Has Been Reported Regarding the Blood

عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَوْسٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطَبَ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ فَذَكَرَ حَدِيثًا وَفِيهِ أَلَا وَإِنَّ قَتِيلَ خَطَأِ الْعَمْدِ بِالسَّوْطِ وَالْعَصَا وَالْحَجَرِ دِيَةٌ مُغَلَّظَةٌ مِائَةٌ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعُونَ فِي بُطُونِهَا أَوْلَادُهَا وَفِي لَفْظٍ أَرْبَعُونَ مِنْ ثَنِيَّةٍ إِلَى بَازِلِ عَامِهَا كُلُّهُنَّ خَلِفَةٌ

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Aws رضي الله عنه narrates from a Companion of the Messenger that the Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم delivered a sermon on the day of the conquest of Makkah and said: Beware! The blood money (diyah) for a person killed by mistake, but with intention, who is struck with a whip, stick, or stone, is aggravated (strict), which is one hundred camels, of which forty she-camels will be pregnant. In another narration, it is stated: forty she-camels will be between Thaniyyah and Bazil in age, and all of them will be pregnant.
