عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ قَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْمُخَابَرَةِ قُلْتُ وَمَا الْمُخَابَرَةُ قَالَ يُؤْجَرُ الْأَرْضُ بِنِصْفٍ أَوْ بِثُلُثٍ أَوْ بِرُبُعٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from Mukhabarah. I asked: What is meant by Mukhabarah? He said: To lease land in exchange for half, a third, or a quarter of its produce.
