عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَفْضَلَ مِنْ دَرَجَةِ الصَّلَاةِ وَالصِّيَامِ وَالصَّدَقَةِ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ إِصْلَاحُ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ وَفَسَادُ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ هِيَ الْحَالِقَةُ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not tell you of an action whose rank is greater than prayer, fasting, and charity? The people said: Certainly. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Reconciling between people; and creating discord among them destroys (good deeds).
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The benefits of voluntary prayers, fasting, and charity are limited, whereas the benefits of reconciliation are innumerable. The unity, harmony, love, and affection within society depend upon peacemaking, and in the absence of reconciliation, the fire of hatred and enmity is ignited, which can even erase the reward of obligatory acts and duties.
