عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ مَالِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ وَمَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ أَهْلِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ وَمَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ دِينِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ وَمَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ دَمِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever is killed while protecting his wealth is a martyr; whoever is killed while protecting his family is a martyr; whoever is killed while protecting his religion is a martyr; and whoever is killed while protecting his life is also a martyr.
