عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا ضَنَّ النَّاسُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ وَتَبَايَعُوا بِالْعِينَةِ وَاتَّبَعُوا أَذْنَابَ الْبَقَرِ وَتَرَكُوا الْجِهَادَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهِمْ بَلَاءً فَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى يُرَاجِعُوا دِينَهُمْ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When people become stingy regarding dirhams and dinars, indulge in ‘inah transactions, follow the tails of cattle, and abandon jihad in the way of Allah, then Allah Almighty will send a trial upon them, and He will not remove it until they return to their religion.
