عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ رَهْبَانِيَّةٌ وَرَهْبَانِيَّةُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every prophet has his own asceticism, and the asceticism of this Ummah is striving in the way of Allah.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Monasticism: To sever oneself from the world and worldly attachments, and to become absorbed in the worship of Allah Ta‘ala in some wilderness or desert. The Christians had innovated this practice, which Islam has declared to be incorrect.
