Al-Fath ar-Rabbani 3607 — Traits Counted as Charity and What Has Been

عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((كُلُّ مَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ، وَمِنَ الْمَعْرُوفِ أَنْ تَلْقَى أَخَاكَ بِوَجْهٍ طَلْقٍ، وَأَنْ تُفْرِغَ مِنْ دَلْوِكَ فِي إِنَاءِهِ))

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Every good deed is charity, and it is also a good deed that you meet your brother with a cheerful face and pour water from your bucket into his vessel.

Benefits: … One should never forget this principle regarding virtue: that every kind of good deed should be attempted, whether it is considered small or great. After all, a sinful woman was forgiven for giving water to a thirsty dog.
