عَنْ نَافِعٍ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنِ الْوِتْرِ أَوَاجِبٌ هُوَ؟ فَقَالَ: أَوْتَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمُسْلِمُونَ
Hazrat Nafi' says that a man asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about Witr prayer, whether this prayer is obligatory. He replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Muslims have performed the Witr prayer.
