عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! إِنِّي أَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ فَلَا أَجِدُ قَلْبِي يَعْقِلُ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّ قَلْبَكَ حُشِيَ الْإِيمَانَ وَإِنَّ الْإِيمَانَ يُعْطَى الْعَبْدَ قَبْلَ الْقُرْآنِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I recite the Qur'an, but I see that my heart does not understand it?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your heart is filled with faith, and a servant is given faith before the Qur'an."
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning is that the heart of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr radi Allahu anhu was filled to its capacity due to faith (iman), because of which he began to forget other things. However, it is a separate matter that Allah Ta'ala, despite the perfection of faith, may grant the ability to preserve the Qur'an and knowledge.
