بَابٌ فِي فَضْلِ الْمُؤْمِنِ وَصِفَتِهِ وَمِثْلِهِ
Chapter on the virtue of the believer, his description, and his likeness
Al-Fath ar-Rabbani 147 — on the virtue of the believer
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((الْمُؤْمِنُونَ فِي الدُّنْيَا عَلَى ثَلَاثَةِ أَجْزَاءٍ، الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوا وَجَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَالَّذِي يَأْمَنُهُ النَّاسُ عَلَى أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِي إِذَا أَشْرَفَ عَلَى طَمَعٍ تَرَكَهُ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three types of believers in the world: (1) Those who believed in Allah and His Messenger and then did not fall into any doubt, and strove in the way of Allah with their wealth and their lives; (2) The person about whom other people feel secure regarding their wealth and lives; and (3) The person who looks towards greed but abandons it for the sake of Allah Almighty."

Benefits: … In any case, a believer should remain protected from greed and covetousness, and strive to attain the elevation of ranks through righteous deeds (a‘maal-e-saliha).
