Chapter on the Interval Between Adhan and Iqamah and That Whoever Calls the Adhan Should Also Give the Iqamah
Al-Fath ar-Rabbani 1306 — on the Interval Between Adhan and Iqamah
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ مُؤَذِّنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُؤَذِّنُ ثُمَّ يُمْهِلُ فَلَا يُقِيمُ حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ خَرَجَ أَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ حِينَ يَرَاهُ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a muezzin who, after calling the adhan, would wait and not say the iqamah. When he saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had come out (from his house), he would then begin to say the iqamah.
