عَنْ أَبِي تِحْيَى قَالَ لَمَّا ضَرَبَ ابْنُ مُلْجِمٍ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ الضَّرْبَةَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ افْعَلُوا بِهِ كَمَا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَفْعَلَ بِرَجُلٍ أَرَادَ قَتْلَهُ فَقَالَ اقْتُلُوهُ ثُمَّ حَرِّقُوهُ
It is narrated from Abu Tahiya that when Ibn Muljam struck Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: Treat him in the same manner as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, treated the man who intended to kill him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Kill him and then burn him.
