Chapter on What Has Been Narrated Regarding Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, Known as Ibn Umm Abd, may Allah be pleased with him
Al-Fath ar-Rabbani 11827 — on What Has Been Narrated Regarding
وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”لَوْ كُنْتُ مُؤَمِّرًا أَحَدًا دُونَ مَشْوَرَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَأَمَّرْتُ ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ“
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I were to appoint someone as a leader without consulting anyone, I would appoint the son of Umm Abd, that is, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, as the leader.
