Al-Adab al-Mufrad 80 — Virtue of Caring for a Returned Daughter
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِسُرَاقَةَ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ: ”أَلاَ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَعْظَمِ الصَّدَقَةِ، أَوْ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ الصَّدَقَةِ؟“ قَالَ: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: ”ابْنَتُكَ مَرْدُودَةٌ إِلَيْكَ، لَيْسَ لَهَا كَاسِبٌ غَيْرُكَ.“
It is narrated from Ali bin Rabah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Ju'sham (may Allah be pleased with him): "Shall I not inform you of the greatest charity?" He said: "Why not, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Your daughter who returns (after divorce or after the death of her husband), for whom there is no earner except you—when you spend on her, that is the greatest charity."
