Al-Adab al-Mufrad 627 — Supplicating for One's Brother in His Absence
حَدَّثَنَا جَنْدَلُ بْنُ وَالِقٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ : ”رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي ، وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ ، وَارْحَمْنِي ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ .“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) seeking forgiveness in one gathering a hundred times in this way: "O Lord! Forgive me, accept my repentance, and have mercy on me. Indeed, You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful."
