باب تَفْسِيرِ الْعَرَايَاChapter: Regarding The Explanation Of ’Araya.
Hadith 3366

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاق ، قَالَ : " الْعَرَايَا أَنْ يَهَبَ الرَّجُلُ لِلرَّجُلِ النَّخَلَاتِ ، فَيَشُقُّ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَقُومَ عَلَيْهَا ، فَيَبِيعُهَا بِمِثْلِ خَرْصِهَا " .
Ibn Ishaq said: Araya means that a man lends another man some palm-trees, but he (the owner) feels inconvenient that the man looks after the trees (by frequent visits). He (the borrower) sells them (to the owner) by calculation.
Brief Explanation
1؎: There are various definitions of ‘Ariyah: (1) The one that has passed under Hadith number (3362). (2, 3) The two definitions of ‘Abd Rabbih which are mentioned in number (3365). (4) This definition of Ibn Ishaq; the first definition is also transmitted from Imam Malik as well as from many other Imams.
