6- All the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, had the same Aqeedah

The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, and Ahl al-Sunnah share the same Aqeedah. From the beginning, there has been no difference among them regarding Aqeedah. The reason is that they derive their Aqeedah from the Book and Sunnah, and do not invent any new opinions on their own. This is the reason why they unanimously adhere to one Aqeedah and methodology and follow the command of Allah Almighty:

وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا

Reference: Al-Imran: 103

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.”
One of the issues of Aqeedah is the matter of the vision of Allah Almighty, which the believers will be granted on the Day of Resurrection. There is consensus on this, and it is an issue proven by the mutawatir evidences from the Book and Sunnah.

The issue of the Night of Mi’raj and seeing Allah Almighty, whether the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw Allah or not, is a specific matter related to this world, not the Hereafter. The majority of the Companions’ stance is that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did see Allah Almighty, and this is the correct view, but it refers to a vision of the heart. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked about this, he said:

« نُوْرٌ أَنّٰى أَرَاهُ »

Reference: (Sahih Muslim [178/291])

“Allah Almighty is Light; how can I see Him?”
In the mentioned hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) negated seeing with the eyes and explained the reason that the veil of light is an obstacle in between. This is also because the Companions unanimously agreed that no one can see Allah in this world, as stated in the hadith:

« وَاعْلَمُوْا أَنَّ أَحَدًا مِّنْكُمْ لَا يَرٰى رَبَّهٗ حَتّٰى يَمُوْتَ »

Reference: (Sahih Muslim [169/95])

“Understand well, before death, no one can see their Lord.”
