Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and his descendants cannot attain governance
Hazrat Saad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the topic of rulers (authority) came up. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) wanted to express an opinion on it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Do not speak, for this authority is neither for you nor for your descendants.”

The narrator of this hadith is Ishaq bin Yahya bin Talha bin Ubaidullah. He is the grandson of Hazrat Talha (may Allah be pleased with him). Since Hazrat Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred at the hands of Hazrat Ali’s (may Allah be pleased with him) soldiers in the Battle of Jamal, it is mostly assumed that this grandson appears displeased with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and attributes his own inner feelings to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) through this narration.
Ishaq bin Yahya:
Yahya bin Saeed Al-Qattan says, “This Ishaq is nothing.” Yahya bin Ma’in said that his narration should not be recorded. Imam Ahmad and An-Nasa’i say that he is abandoned (matruk). Bukhari states that hadith scholars have reservations about his memory.
Ibn Hibban states in Kitab al-Thiqat that Ishaq died during the Caliphate of Al-Mahdi. He makes mistakes in hadith and there is an element of doubt in him. Therefore, we have mentioned him among the weak narrators. If he presents narrations that no one else reports, they are not acceptable. But if others also narrate from him, then his narration is accepted. Coincidentally, he is narrating this alone, so Ibn Adi and Al-Dhahabi have declared this narration as rejected.

Hadith scholars have reservations about his memory. His hadith should be recorded as from memory.

An-Nasa’i writes that this Ishaq is abandoned in hadith.

However, in our view, Ishaq is indeed weak but not a liar or fabricator of hadith.
Therefore, this narration is not fabricated by him himself. Rather, someone fabricated it and attributed it to him. Because this narration is transmitted from Ishaq bin Yahya by Uthman bin Faad.
Uthman bin Faad:
This Ishaq is a thousand times better than this Uthman. Ibn Hibban states that the hadith of this Uthman is definitely not authoritative. Al-Dhahabi transmitted one narration from him and declared it fabricated, saying all these troubles are caused by this Uthman. Bukhari states that except for Sulaiman, no one transmits from this Uthman and his narration is questionable. Al-Dhahabi declared many of his narrations fabricated. Yahya bin Ma’in says he is nothing, and Ibn Adi says his general narrations are not authentic.
