Morning and Evening Remembrances

Morning remembrances should be recited after the Fajr prayer and evening remembrances after the Maghrib prayer. This is the best time.

I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan.

Reference: Al-Baqarah: 255

There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi in the morning will be protected from jinn until the evening, and whoever recites it in the evening will be protected from them until the morning.

Reference: Hakim: 562/1, Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it authentic, Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib: 1/457, and it is attributed to An-Nasa’i and At-Tabarani with a good chain.

Reference: Al-Ikhlas: 1-4

Reference: Al-Falaq: 1-5

5. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever recites this supplication three times every morning and evening will not be harmed by anything, nor will sudden calamity befall him.

In the name of Allah, with whose blessing nothing in the earth or the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

6. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

There is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things competent.
Whoever recites this declaration of monotheism (Kalima Tawheed) one hundred times in a day will be rewarded as if he freed ten slaves, one hundred good deeds will be written for him, one hundred sins will be erased, and he will be protected from Satan until the evening of that day. No one brings a better deed than this except the one who does more than this.

Reference: Al-Bukhari: 6403, Muslim: 2691

7. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever says one hundred times in a day:

Whoever says these words three times at night, no poisonous thing will harm him that night.

9. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would perform the morning prayer, he would recite these words:

We have entered the morning on the natural religion of Islam, on the word of sincerity, on the religion of our noble Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and on the faith of our father Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who was most upright and not among the polytheists.

Reference: Ahmad: 123/5, 407, 604/3, Sahih At-Tirmidhi: 3389

10. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever says these words three times every morning and evening:

I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad (peace be upon him) as my Prophet.
Then Allah has the right to be pleased with him on the Day of Judgment.
In a narration of At-Tabarani:
I am his guarantor; I will hold his hand and lead him until I enter him into Paradise.

Reference: Musnad Ahmad: 1293, Sahih Al-Jami’: 4674, narrated by At-Tabarani with a good chain, Sahih Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib: 415/1

In Abu Dawood’s narration:
Paradise becomes obligatory for him.

Reference: Sahih Abi Dawood: 1529

11. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would perform the morning prayer, he would supplicate with these words:

We have entered the morning and all the kingdom belongs to Allah, and all praise is for Allah. There is no deity worthy of worship except Him, He is alone, He has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is capable of all things. O my Lord! I ask for the good of this day and what follows it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day and what follows it. O Lord! I seek refuge in You from laziness and the evil of old age. O my Lord! I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the Fire and the punishment of the grave.
And in the evening, recite:

We have entered the evening and all the kingdom belongs to Allah.

Reference: Sahih Abi Dawood: 1529

O Allah! We have entered the morning and evening with Your name, and with Your name we live and die, and to You is the final return.
And in the evening say:

O Allah! We have entered the evening and morning with Your name, and with Your name we live and die, and to You is the final return.

Reference: Sahih Muslim: 2723, Sahihah: 262, Sahih At-Tirmidhi: 3391, Sahih At-Tirmidhi: 3/142

13. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) taught this supplication to Lady Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and said:
What harm is there in listening to my advice? Whenever you perform morning or evening, say:

O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of the universe! I plead to You by Your mercy, so rectify all my affairs and do not entrust me to myself even for the blink of an eye.

Reference: Sahih Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib: 661

14. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
The best form of seeking forgiveness (Sayyid al-Istighfar) is to say:

O Allah! You are my Lord. There is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I uphold my covenant and promise to You as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none forgives sins except You.
Whoever recites this supplication in a state of certainty in the evening and dies that night will enter Paradise, and likewise whoever recites it in the morning and dies before evening will enter Paradise.
Note: Sayyid al-Istighfar should be recited at Maghrib and Fajr.

Reference: Al-Bukhari: 6323

15. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever says these words one hundred times every morning and evening:

I declare the purity of Allah with His praises.
No person can perform a better deed than this except the one who says these words this many times or more.

Reference: Muslim: 2692

O Allah! I have entered the morning while bearing witness to You, and to those who carry Your Throne, and to Your angels, and to all Your creation, that surely You are Allah, there is no deity worthy of worship except You, and surely Muhammad (peace be upon him) is Your servant and Messenger.
Whoever recites this supplication four times every morning and evening, Allah will free him from Hellfire.

Reference: Abu Dawood: 5073, Musnad Ahmad: 2/25, Ibn Majah: 3871, authentic chain by Shu’ayb and Abdul Qadir, Zad al-Ma’ad: 376/2

17. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever recites this supplication three times every morning and evening will not be harmed by any poisonous thing or illness that night:

I seek refuge in Allah with His perfect words from the evil of His creation.

Reference: Sahih At-Tirmidhi: 3604, Muslim: 2708

18. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) never abandoned reciting this supplication morning and evening:

O Allah! I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah! Cover my faults and turn my anxiety into peace. O Allah! Protect me from in front of me, behind me, on my right, on my left, and from above me. I seek refuge in Your greatness lest I be destroyed suddenly from beneath me.

Reference: Sahih At-Tirmidhi: 3604, Muslim: 2708

Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. I have placed my trust in Him, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.
Whoever recites this supplication seven times every morning and evening, Allah will suffice him from the worries of this world and the Hereafter.

Reference: Abu Dawood: 5081, authentic chain by Shu’ayb and Abdul Qadir, Zad al-Ma’ad: 376/2

20. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
When you perform morning and evening, recite this supplication:

O Allah! Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord of everything and Owner of it! I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of myself, from Satan and his shirk, and from committing any evil against myself or bringing it upon any Muslim.

Reference: Abu Dawood: 5073, Musnad Ahmad: 2/25, Ibn Majah: 3871

21. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to Hazrat Juwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her):
After you, I have said these four words three times, and if your daily recitation is weighed against them, these words will outweigh them. These words are:

Praise and purity be to Allah as numerous as His creation, as much as He is pleased with, equal to the weight of His Throne, and equal to the ink of His words.

Reference: Abu Dawood: 5083, Tirmidhi: 3392, Sahih Al-Kalim At-Tayyib: 22, Sahih Al-Adab Al-Mufrad: 413/1, Muslim: 2726

22. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
By Allah! I seek forgiveness and repent to Allah more than seventy times a day.
The easy words of seeking forgiveness are:

I ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him.

Reference: Al-Bukhari: 6307

23. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever sends blessings upon me ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening will receive my intercession on the Day of Judgment.

O Allah! Send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Whoever sends blessings more than this will have a better status.

Reference: Narrated by At-Tabarani with two chains, one of which is good, Sahih Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib: 273/1

24. Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said:
We used to count one hundred times seeking forgiveness for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in a gathering:

O Allah! Forgive me and accept my repentance. Indeed, You are the Most Accepting of Repentance, Most Merciful.
