It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Zuhr and Asr, and Maghrib and Isha together, without fear or travel. Sayyiduna Malik bin Anas (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I think this happened due to rain.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he stayed in Madinah with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he (the Prophet) offered eight rak‘ahs together and seven rak‘ahs together. The narrator says: I said to Abu Sha‘tha: "I think the Prophet delayed Zuhr and offered ‘Asr early, and likewise delayed Maghrib and offered ‘Isha early?" Abu Sha‘tha said: "I also think the same."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): I offered eight rak‘ahs and seven rak‘ahs (combined) with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator says: I asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), “Why was this done?” So Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied, “So that there may be ease for the Ummah.”

Abu Yunus (may Allah have mercy on him), the freed slave of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) ordered me to write a copy of the Qur’anic manuscript and said: When you reach this verse ﴿Hafizoo 'ala as-salawati was-salatil wusta﴾ [سورة البقرة: 238], inform me. Abu Yunus (may Allah have mercy on him) says: When I reached this verse, I informed her, so the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her) dictated to me (this also) «حَافِظُواعَلَىالصَّلَوَاتِوَالصَّلَاةِالْوُسْطَىوَصَلَاةِالْعَصْرِوَقُومُوالِلَّهِقَانِتِينَ» and said: I heard this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her): I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing voluntary prayers while sitting, until one year before his passing, he began to perform voluntary prayers while sitting. And whenever he recited a surah, he would recite it with such measured recitation and pauses that it would become very lengthy.

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing prayer while sitting, until when he became old, he would pray sitting and would also recite while sitting. But when he intended to bow (for ruku'), he would stand up and recite thirty or forty more verses, then he would perform ruku'.

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray sitting, he would also recite (Qur'an) while sitting. When thirty or forty verses remained from the recitation, he would stand up and recite while standing, then perform bowing (ruku‘), then prostration (sajdah), and in the second rak‘ah he would do as he did in the first rak‘ah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a rope hanging between two pillars and asked, "What is this rope?" The people said, "This rope has been hung by such-and-such woman for prayer; when she becomes tired while standing, she holds on to it for support." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not do this. Pray as long as you are alert and conscious; when drowsiness overcomes you, then go and sleep."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished a prayer in which he had recited aloud. He (peace be upon him) asked: "Did any of you recite (anything) with me just now?" A man said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" He (peace be upon him) said: "I also say, why is it that I am experiencing difficulty in reciting the Qur'an?" Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when the people heard this statement of his, they refrained from reciting aloud in the prayers in which the recitation is to be done aloud.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the people were performing the Fajr prayer in Quba when a person came and said: Revelation has come to Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) tonight, and we have been commanded to pray facing the Ka’bah, so turn your faces towards the Ka’bah. Their faces were towards Shaam, so they turned towards the Ka’bah.
