Hadith 2544

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Two slaves ran away from Ta’if and came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set them free; one of them was Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2543)

If the chain of narration of this hadith is considered authentic, then from it is established the mercy and compassion of the Prophet of Mercy, the Pride of Both Worlds, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, as well as his affection and love for mankind: that when a slave came running (to him), he did not thrust him back into the hell of humiliation and disgrace, but rather set him free. And there was no such agreement with the people of Ta’if that if any person from among them came to the Muslims, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would return him back.
