Hadith 1802
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَنَسَبَهُ غَيْرُ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنَّ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ الْأَكْوَعِ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ خَيْبَرَ قَاتَلَ أَخِي قِتَالًا شَدِيدًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَارْتَدَّ عَلَيْهِ سَيْفُهُ فَقَتَلَهُ ، فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ذَلِكَ ، وَشَكُّوا فِيهِ رَجُلٌ مَاتَ فِي سِلَاحِهِ وَشَكُّوا فِي بَعْضِ أَمْرِهِ ، قَالَ سَلَمَةُ : فَقَفَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ خَيْبَرَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، ائْذَنْ لِي أَنْ أَرْجُزَ لَكَ ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ : أَعْلَمُ مَا تَقُولُ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : وَاللَّهِ لَوْلَا اللَّهُ مَا اهْتَدَيْنَا ، وَلَا تَصَدَّقْنَا وَلَا صَلَّيْنَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : صَدَقْتَ ، وَأَنْزِلَنْ سَكِينَةً عَلَيْنَا وَثَبِّتِ الْأَقْدَامَ إِنْ لَاقَيْنَا وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ قَدْ بَغَوْا عَلَيْنَا ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا قَضَيْتُ رَجَزِي ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَنْ قَالَ هَذَا ؟ ، قُلْتُ : قَالَهُ أَخِي ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَرْحَمُهُ اللَّهُ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ نَاسًا لَيَهَابُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَيْهِ يَقُولُونَ رَجُلٌ مَاتَ بِسِلَاحِهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَاتَ جَاهِدًا مُجَاهِدًا " ، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُ ابْنًا لِسَلَمَةَ بنِ الأَكْوَعِ ، فَحَدَثَنيِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : حِينَ قُلُتُ إِنَّ نَاسًا يَهَابُونَ الصَّلاةَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمِ : " كَذَبُوا مَاتَ جَاهِدًا مُجَاهِدًا فَلَهُ أَجْرُهُ مَرَتَيْنِ " وَأَشَارَ بِإصبَعَيهِ .
It has been reported on the authority of Salama bin Akwa' who said: On the day of the Battle of Khaibar my brother fought a fierce fight by the side of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . His sword rebounded and killed him. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) talked about his death and doubted (whether it was martyrdom). (They said): (He is) a man killed by his own weapon, and expressed doubt about his affair. Salama said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) returned from Khaibar, I said: Messenger of Allah, permit me that I may recite to you some rajaz verses. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) permitted him. 'Umar bin Khattab said: I know what you will recite. I recited: By God, if God had guided us not, We would have neither been guided aright nor practised charity, Nor offered prayers. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: What you have said is true, 'I (continued): And descend on us peace and tranquillity And keep us steadfast if we encounter (with our enemies) And the polytheists have rebelled against us. When I finished my rajaz, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Who composed these verses? I said: They were composed by my brother. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: May God show mercy to him! I said: By God, some people are reluctant to invoke God's mercy on him (because) they say he is a man who died by his own sword. (Hearing this) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: He died as God's devotee and warrior. Ibn Shihab has said: I asked one of the sons of Salama bin Akwa' about (the death of 'Amir). He related to me a similar tradition except that he said: When I said some people were reluctant invoke God's blessings on him, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: They lied. ('Amir) died as God's devotee and warrior (in the cause of Allah). For him there is a double reward, and he pointed out this by putting his two fingers together.
Hadith 1817
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نِيَارٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قِبَلَ بَدْرٍ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ بِحَرَّةِ الْوَبَرَةِ أَدْرَكَهُ رَجُلٌ قَدْ كَانَ يُذْكَرُ مِنْهُ جُرْأَةٌ وَنَجْدَةٌ ، فَفَرِحَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ رَأَوْهُ ، فَلَمَّا أَدْرَكَهُ ، قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : جِئْتُ لِأَتَّبِعَكَ وَأُصِيبَ مَعَكَ ، قَالَ لَهُ : رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَارْجِعْ فَلَنْ أَسْتَعِينَ بِمُشْرِكٍ ، قَالَتْ : ثُمَّ مَضَى حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِالشَّجَرَةِ أَدْرَكَهُ الرَّجُلُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : كَمَا قَالَ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : كَمَا قَالَ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ، قَالَ : فَارْجِعْ فَلَنْ أَسْتَعِينَ بِمُشْرِكٍ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَأَدْرَكَهُ بِالْبَيْدَاءِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : كَمَا قَالَ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَانْطَلِقْ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of A'isha, wife of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) , who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) set out for Badr. When he reached Harrat-ul-Wabara (a place four miles from Madinah) a man met him who was known for his valour and courage. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) were pleased to see him. He said: I have come so that I may follow you and get a share from the booty. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: Do you believe in Allah and His Apostle? He said: No. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Go back, I will not seek help from a Mushrik (polytheist). He went on until we reached Shajara, where the man met him again. He asked him the same question again and the man gave him the same answer. He said: Go back. I will not seek help from a Mushrik. The man returned and overtook him at Baida'? He asked him as he had asked previously: Do you believe in Allah and His Apostle? The man said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: Then come along with us.
Hadith 1828
حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِمَاسَةَ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ أَسْأَلُهَا عَنْ شَيْءٍ ، فَقَالَتْ : " مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ؟ ، فَقُلْتُ : رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ ، فَقَالَتْ : كَيْفَ كَانَ صَاحِبُكُمْ لَكُمْ فِي غَزَاتِكُمْ هَذِهِ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : مَا نَقَمْنَا مِنْهُ شَيْئًا إِنْ كَانَ لَيَمُوتُ لِلرَّجُلِ مِنَّا الْبَعِيرُ ، فَيُعْطِيهِ الْبَعِيرَ ، وَالْعَبْدُ فَيُعْطِيهِ الْعَبْدَ ، وَيَحْتَاجُ إِلَى النَّفَقَةِ فَيُعْطِيهِ النَّفَقَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَا يَمْنَعُنِي الَّذِي فَعَلَ فِي مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَخِي أَنْ أُخْبِرَكَ مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : فِي بَيْتِي هَذَا اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ أُمَّتِي شَيْئًا ، فَشَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَاشْقُقْ عَلَيْهِ ، وَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ أُمَّتِي شَيْئًا فَرَفَقَ بِهِمْ فَارْفُقْ بِهِ " ،
It has been reported on the authority of Abdul Rahman bin Shumasa who said: I came to A'isha to inquire something from her. She said: From which people art thou? I said: I am from the people of Egypt. She said: What was the behaviour of your governor towards you in this war of yours? I said: We did not experience anything bad from him. If the camel of a man from us died, he would bestow on him a camel. If any one of us lost his slave, he would give him a slave. If anybody was in need of the basic necessities of life, he would provide them with provisions. She said: Behold! the treatment that was meted out to my brother, Muhammad bin Abu Bakr, does not prevent me from telling you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . He said in this house of mine: O God, who (happens to) acquire some kind of control over the affairs of my people and is hard upon them-be Thou hard upon him, and who (happens to) acquire some kind of control over the affairs of my people and is kind to them-be Thou kind to him.
Hadith 1829
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ . ح . وحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي يَعْنِي الْقَطَّانَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُجَمِيعًا ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُثْمَانَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أُسَامَةُ كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ،
This tradition has been narrated through more; than one chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1829
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : وَحَسِبْتُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ قَالَ الرَّجُلُ رَاعٍ فِي مَالِ أَبِيهِ وَمَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ ،
Yahya ibn Yahya, Yahya ibn Ayyub, Qutaybah ibn Sa'id, and Ibn Hujr all narrated to us from Isma'il ibn Ja'far, from Abdullah ibn Dinar, from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said...
And Harmalah ibn Yahya narrated to me, Ibn Wahb informed us, Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, from Salim ibn Abdullah, from his father, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say with the meaning of the hadith of Nafi', from Ibn Umar, and he added in the hadith of Az-Zuhri, he said: And I think that he said: "The man is a shepherd over his father's wealth and is responsible for his flock."

Hadith 1829
وحَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ سَمَّاهُ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهَذَا الْمَعْنَى .
A hadith having the same meaning has been transmitted on the authority of 'Abdullah bin 'Umar.
Hadith 1835
وحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ ، وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ ، وَمَنْ أَطَاعَ أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي ، وَمَنْ عَصَى أَمِيرِي فَقَدْ عَصَانِي " ،
It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whoso obeys me obeys God; and whose disobeys me disobeys God. Whoso obeys my commander obeys me, and whoso disobeys my commander disobeys me.
Hadith 1835
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ : أَنَّ أَبَا يُونُسَ مَوْلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَلِكَ ، وَقَالَ : مَنْ أَطَاعَ الْأَمِيرَ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ أَمِيرِي وَكَذَلِكَ فِي حَدِيثِ هَمَّامٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ .
According to one version of the tradition, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whoso obeys the commander. He did not say:" My commander."
Hadith 1709
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنِي بُكَيْرٌ ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ جُنَادَةَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّة ، قَالَ : دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ وَهُوَ مَرِيضٌ ، فَقُلْنَا حَدِّثْنَا : أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ بِحَدِيثٍ يَنْفَعُ اللَّهُ بِهِ ، سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : دَعَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَبَايَعْنَاهُ ، فَكَانَ فِيمَا أَخَذَ عَلَيْنَا ، " أَنْ بَايَعَنَا عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ فِي مَنْشَطِنَا وَمَكْرَهِنَا ، وَعُسْرِنَا وَيُسْرِنَا ، وَأَثَرَةٍ عَلَيْنَا ، وَأَنْ لَا نُنَازِعَ الْأَمْرَ أَهْلَهُ ، قَالَ : إِلَّا أَنْ تَرَوْا كُفْرًا بَوَاحًا عِنْدَكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ فِيهِ بُرْهَانٌ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Junida bin Abu Umayya who said: We called upon 'Ubadah bin Samit who was ill and said to him: May God give you health I Narrate to us a tradition which God may prove beneficial (to us) and which you have heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . He said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called us and we took the oath of allegiance to him. Among the injunctions he made binding upon us was: Listening and obedience (to the Amir) in our pleasure and displeasure, in our adversity and prosperity, even when somebody is given preference over us, and without disputing the delegation of powers to a man duly invested with them (Obedience shall be accorded to him in all circumstances) except when you have clear signs of his disbelief in (or disobedience to) God-signs that could be used as a conscientious justification (for non-compliance with his orders).
Hadith 1866
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَرْحٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَتِ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ إِذَا هَاجَرْنَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُمْتَحَنَّ بِقَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَأَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ عَلَى أَنْ لا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا وَلا يَسْرِقْنَ وَلا يَزْنِينَ سورة الممتحنة آية 12 ، إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَمَنْ أَقَرَّ بِهَذَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ فَقَدْ أَقَرَّ بِالْمِحْنَةِ ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَقْرَرْنَ بِذَلِكَ مِنْ قَوْلِهِنَّ ، قَالَ لَهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " انْطَلِقْنَ فَقَدْ بَايَعْتُكُنَّ " ، وَلَا وَاللَّهِ مَا مَسَّتْ يَدُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَ امْرَأَةٍ قَطُّ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ يُبَايِعُهُنَّ بِالْكَلَامِ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ قَطُّ إِلَّا بِمَا أَمَرَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى ، وَمَا مَسَّتْ كَفُّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَفَّ امْرَأَةٍ قَطُّ ، وَكَانَ يَقُولُ لَهُنَّ إِذَا أَخَذَ عَلَيْهِنَّ قَدْ بَايَعْتُكُنَّ كَلَامًا .
It has been narrated on the authority of 'A'isha, the wife of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) . She said: When the believing women migrated (to Madinah) and came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) , they would be tested in accordance with the following words of Allah. the Almighty and Exalted:" O Prophet, when believing women come to thee to take the oath of fealty to thee that they will not associate in worship anything with God, that they will not steal. that, they will not commit adultery..." to the end of the verse (lx. 62). Whoso from the believing women accepted these conditions and agreed to abide by them were considered to have offered themselves for swearing fealty. When they had (formally) declared their resolve to do so, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say to them: You may go. I have confirmed your fealty. By God, the hand of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never touched the hand of a woman. He would take the oath of fealty from them by oral declaration. By God, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never took any vow from women except that which God had ordered him to take, and his palm never touched the palm of a woman. When he had taken their vow, he would tell them that he had taken the oath from them orally.
Hadith 1866
وحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، وَأَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، قَالَ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ هَارُونُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ عَنْ بَيْعَةِ النِّسَاءِ ، قَالَتْ : " مَا مَسَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ امْرَأَةً قَطُّ ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْخُذَ عَلَيْهَا ، فَإِذَا أَخَذَ عَلَيْهَا فَأَعْطَتْهُ ، قَالَ : " اذْهَبِي فَقَدْ بَايَعْتُكِ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of 'Urwa that 'A'isha described to him the way the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) took the oath of fealty from women. She said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never touched a woman with his hand. He would only take a vow from her and when he had taken the (verbal) vow, he would say: You may go. I have accepted your fealty.
Hadith 1870
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ جميعا ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ أَيُّوبَ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ حَمَّادٍ ، وَابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : فَجِئْتُ سَابِقًا فَطَفَّفَ بِي الْفَرَسُ الْمَسْجِدَ .
This tradition has been handed down through another chain of transmitters with the addition of the following words from'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) :" I came first in the race and my horse jumped into the mosque with me."
Hadith 1871
وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، وَابْنُ رُمْحٍ ، عَنْ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أُسَامَةُ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ .

Hadith 1884
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هَانِئٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ : " مَنْ رَضِيَ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّد ٍ نَبِيًّا ، وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ " ، فَعَجِبَ لَهَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، فَقَالَ : أَعِدْهَا عَلَيَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَفَعَلَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " وَأُخْرَى يُرْفَعُ بِهَا الْعَبْدُ مِائَةَ دَرَجَةٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ مَا بَيْنَ كُلِّ دَرَجَتَيْنِ كَمَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ " ، قَالَ : وَمَا هِيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id Khudri that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said (to him): Abu Sa'id, whoever cheerfully accepts Allah as his Lord, Islam as his religion and Mubammad as his Apostle (ﷺ) is necessarily entitled to enter Paradise. He (Abu Sa'id) wondered at it and said: Messenger of Allah, repeat it for me. He (the Messenger of Allah) (ﷺ) did that and said: There is another act which elevates the position of a man in Paradise to a grade one hundred (higher), and the elevation between one grade and the other is equal to the height of the heaven from the earth. He (Abu Sa'id) said: What is that act? He replied: Jihad in the way of Allah! Jihad in the way of Allah!
Hadith 1895
وحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، قَالَ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، وقَالَ سَعِيدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ جَهَّزَ غَازِيًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَقَدْ غَزَا وَمَنْ خَلَفَهُ فِي أَهْلِهِ بِخَيْرٍ فَقَدْ غَزَا " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Zaid bin Kbalid al-Juhani that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Anybody who equips a warrior (going to fight) in the way of Allah (is like one who actually) fights. And anybody who looks well after his family in his absence (is also like one who actually) fights.
Hadith 1896
وحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ إِلَى بَنِي لَحْيَانَ لِيَخْرُجْ مِنْ كُلِّ رَجُلَيْنِ رَجُلٌ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " لِلْقَاعِدِ أَيُّكُمْ خَلَفَ الْخَارِجَ فِي أَهْلِهِ وَمَالِهِ بِخَيْرٍ كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ نِصْفِ أَجْرِ الْخَارِجِ " .
It has been narrated (through a still different chain of transmitters) on the authority of Abu Sa'id Khudri that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) despatched a force to Banu Lihyan. (and said:) One man from every two should join the force. Then he said to those who stayed behind: Those of you who will look well after the family and wealth of those who are going on the expedition will be getting half the reward of the warriors.
Hadith 1909
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَرْمَلَةَ ، قَالَ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ حَرْمَلَةُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو شُرَيْحٍ ، أَنَّ سَهْلَ بْنَ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ سَأَلَ اللَّهَ الشَّهَادَةَ بِصِدْقٍ بَلَّغَهُ اللَّهُ مَنَازِلَ الشُّهَدَاءِ ، وَإِنْ مَاتَ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ " ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ بِصِدْقٍ .
It has been reported on the authority of Sahl bin Aba Umama bin Sahl bin Hunaif who learned the tradition from his father who (in turn) learned it from his grandfather-that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Who sought martyrdom with sincerity will be ranked by Allah among the martyrs even if he died on his bed. In his version of the tradition Abd Tahir did not mention the words:" with sincerity".
Hadith 1913
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ السِّمْطِ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى .
This tradition has been handed down on the authority of Salman al-Khair through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1917
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ شُفَيٍّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِر ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، يَقُولُ : " وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ سورة الأنفال آية 60 ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Amir who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say-and he was delivering a sermon from the pulpit: Prepare to meet them with as much strength as you can afford. Beware, strength consists in archery. Beware, strength consists in archery. Beware, strength consists in archery.
Hadith 1918
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " سَتُفْتَحُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَرَضُونَ وَيَكْفِيكُمُ اللَّهُ ، فَلَا يَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَلْهُوَ بِأَسْهُمِهِ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Uqba bin Amir who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Lands shall be thrown open to you and Allah will suffice you (against your enemies), but none of you should give up playing with his arrows.
Hadith 1924
حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ شِمَاسَةَ الْمَهْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ مُخَلَّدٍ ، وَعِنْدَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ إِلَّا عَلَى شِرَارِ الْخَلْقِ هُمْ شَرٌّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، لَا يَدْعُونَ اللَّهَ بِشَيْءٍ إِلَّا رَدَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَبَيْنَمَا هُمْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ أَقْبَلَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مَسْلَمَةُ يَا عُقْبَةُ : اسْمَعْ مَا يَقُولُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ عُقْبَةُ : هُوَ أَعْلَمُ ، وَأَمَّا أَنَا فَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا تَزَالُ عِصَابَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي يُقَاتِلُونَ عَلَى أَمْرِ اللَّهِ قَاهِرِينَ لِعَدُوِّهِمْ ، لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَهُمُ السَّاعَةُ وَهُمْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ " ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : أَجَلْ ، " ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُ اللَّهُ رِيحًا كَرِيحِ الْمِسْكِ مَسُّهَا مَسُّ الْحَرِيرِ ، فَلَا تَتْرُكُ نَفْسًا فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ حَبَّةٍ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ إِلَّا قَبَضَتْهُ ثُمَّ يَبْقَى شِرَارُ النَّاسِ عَلَيْهِمْ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ " .
It has bIt has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdul Rahman bin Shamasa al- Mahri who said: I was in the company of Maslama bin Mukhallad, and 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin 'As was with him. 'Abdullah said: The Hour shall some oniy when the worst type of people are left on the earth. They will be worse than the people of pre-Islamic days. They will get whatever they ask of Allah. While we were yet sitting when 'Uqba bin 'Amir came, and Maslama said to him: 'Uqba, listen to what 'Abdullah says. 'Uqba said: He knows better; so far as I am concerned, I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: A group of people from my Umma will continue to fight in obedience to the Command of Allah, remaining dominant over their enemies. Those who will oppose them shall not do them any harm. They will remain ill this condition until the Hour overtakes them. (At this) 'Abdullah said: Yes. Then Allah will raise a wild which will be fragrant like musk and whose touch will be like the touch of silk; (but) it will cause the death of all (faithful) persons, not leaving behind a single person with an iota of faith in his heart. Then only the worst of men will remain to be overwhelmed by the Hour.een related by, Yazid bin al-Asamm that he heard Mu'awiyah bin Abu Sfyan quote a tradition from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) which he related from the Prophet (ﷺ) (mail peace be upon him) -and he did not hear him quote from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) (masy peace be upon him) any tradition other than this in the course of his sermon from the pulpit-that whom Allah wants to do a favour, He grants him an understanding of religion. A group of people from the Muslims will remain on the Right Path and continue until the Day of Judgment to triumph over those who oppose them.
Hadith 1930
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقْرِئُ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ غَيْرَ أَنَّ حَدِيثَ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ لَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ صَيْدَ الْقَوْسِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Haiwa with the same chain of transmitters, but with a slight variation of words.
Hadith 1932
وحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ أَكْلِ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السِّبَاعِ " ، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ ذَلِكَ مِنْ عُلَمَائِنَا بِالْحِجَازِ ، حَتَّى حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِدْرِيسَ وَكَانَ مِنْ فُقَهَاءِ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ .
Abu Tha'laba al-Khushani reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prohibited the eating of all fanged beasts. Ibn Shihab said: I did not hear of this from our 'Ulama' in the Hijaz, until Abu Idris narrated that to me and he was one of the jurists of Syria.
Hadith 1932
وحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرٌو يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْ أَكْلِ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السِّبَاعِ " .
Abu Tha'laba al-Khushani reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having prohibited the eating of all fanged beasts of prey. This hadith has been narrated through another chain of transmitters, but with a slight variation of words.

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The eating of all fanged beasts of prey is unlawful. This hadith has been narrated through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1933
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ .

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ح وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ يُونُسَ ، وَعَنْ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الْإِنْسِيَّةِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri through a different chain of transmitters with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 1941
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ النَّوْفَلِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ .
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Ibn Juraij.

وحَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُجَاعُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُوسَى بْنَ عُقْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الضَّبِّ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّ حَدِيثَ أَيُّوبَ أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِضَبٍّ فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْهُ وَلَمْ يُحَرِّمْهُ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ أُسَامَةَ ، قَالَ : قَامَ رَجُلٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ .
A hadith pertaining to the eating of the lizard is transmitted from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) on the authority of Ibn 'Umar, but in this very hadith narrated through a different chain of transmitters there is a slight variation of wording (and the words are): "A lizard was brought to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) but he neither ate that nor declared it unlawful." And in the hadith transmitted through Usama (the words are): "The man (inquirer) was standing in the mosque and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was sitting on the pulpit."
Hadith 1946
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ جميعا ، عَنْ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ حَرْمَلَةُ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ سَيْفُ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ خَالَتُهُ وَخَالَةُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَوَجَدَ عِنْدَهَا ضَبًّا مَحْنُوذًا قَدِمَتْ بِهِ أُخْتُهَا حُفَيْدَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ مِنْ نَجْدٍ ، فَقَدَّمَتِ الضَّبَّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَكَانَ قَلَّمَا يُقَدَّمُ إِلَيْهِ طَعَامٌ حَتَّى يُحَدَّثَ بِهِ وَيُسَمَّى لَهُ ، فَأَهْوَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ إِلَى الضَّبِّ ، فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ النِّسْوَةِ الْحُضُورِ : أَخْبِرْنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَا قَدَّمْتُنَّ لَهُ قُلْنَ هُوَ الضَّبُّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ ، فَقَالَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ : أَحَرَامٌ الضَّبُّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " لَا ، وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ بِأَرْضِ قَوْمِي فَأَجِدُنِي أَعَافُهُ " ، قَالَ خَالِدٌ : فَاجْتَرَرْتُهُ فَأَكَلْتُهُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَنْظُرُ فَلَمْ يَنْهَنِي .
'Abdullah bin 'Abbas reported that Khalid bin Walid who is called the Sword of Allah had informed him that he visited Maimuna, the wife of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , in the company of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , and she was the sister of his mother (that of Khalid) and that of ' Ibn Abbas (RA) , and he found with her a roasted lizard which her sister Hufaida the daughter of al-Harith had brought from Najd, and she presented that lizard to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . It was rare that some food was presented to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and it was not mentioned or named. While Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was about to stretch forth his hand towards the lizard, a woman from amongst the women present there informed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) what they had presented to him. They said: Messenger of Allah, it is a lizard. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) withdrew his hand, whereupon Khalid bin Walid said: Messenger of Allah, is a lizard forbidden? Thereupon he said: No, but it is not found in the land of my people, and I feel that I have no liking for it. Khalid said: I then chewed and ate it, and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was looking at me and he did not forbid (me to eat it).
Hadith 1967
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ حَيْوَةُ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو صَخْرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ قُسَيْطٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِكَبْشٍ أَقْرَنَ يَطَأُ فِي سَوَادٍ ، وَيَبْرُكُ فِي سَوَادٍ وَيَنْظُرُ فِي سَوَادٍ ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِ لِيُضَحِّيَ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا يَا عَائِشَةُ : " هَلُمِّي الْمُدْيَةَ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " اشْحَذِيهَا بِحَجَرٍ " ، فَفَعَلَتْ ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا وَأَخَذَ الْكَبْشَ فَأَضْجَعَهُ ، ثُمَّ ذَبَحَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ اللَّهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَمِنْ أُمَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ " ثُمَّ ضَحَّى بِهِ .
'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) commanded that a ram with black legs, black belly and black (circles) round the eyes should be brought to him, so that he should sacrifice it. He said to 'A'isha: Give me the large knife, and then said: Sharpen it on a stone. She did that. He then took it (the knife) and then the ram; he placed it on the ground and then sacrificed it, saying: Bismillah, Allah-humma Taqabbal min Muhammadin wa Al-i-Muhammadin, wa min Ummati Muhammadin (In the name of Allah," O Allah, accept [this sacrifice] on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad and the Umma of Muhammad" ).
Hadith 1969
حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ أَزْهَرَ ، أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ الْعِيدَ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : فَصَلَّى لَنَا قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ ثُمَّ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَدْ نَهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَأْكُلُوا لُحُومَ نُسُكِكُمْ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثِ لَيَالٍ فَلَا تَأْكُلُوا " .
Abu 'Ubaid, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, reported that he said 'Id (prayer) with Umar bin al-Khattab, and then said the 'Id (prayer) with 'Ali bin Abu Talib. He (the narrator further) reported: He led us in prayer before delivering the sermon and then addressed the people saying: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) has forbidden you to eat the flesh of your sacrificial animals beyond three nights, so do not eat that.
Hadith 1977
وحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنِ أَخِي ابْنِ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي حَيْوَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْجُنْدَعِيِّ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ ، وَذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِهِمْ .
Amr bin Muslim al-Jundani reported that Ibn Musayyib had told him that it was Umm Salamah, the wife of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , who had informed him of that as narrated above.
Hadith 1979
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ كَثِيرِ بْنِ عُفَيْرٍ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، أَنَّ حُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ، قَالَ : " كَانَتْ لِي شَارِفٌ مِنْ نَصِيبِي مِنَ الْمَغْنَمِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْطَانِي شَارِفًا مِنَ الْخُمُسِ يَوْمَئِذٍ ، فَلَمَّا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَبْتَنِيَ بِفَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاعَدْتُ رَجُلًا صَوَّاغًا مِنْ بَنِي قَيْنُقَاعَ يَرْتَحِلُ مَعِيَ ، فَنَأْتِي بِإِذْخِرٍ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَبِيعَهُ مِنَ الصَّوَّاغِينَ ، فَأَسْتَعِينَ بِهِ فِي وَلِيمَةِ عُرْسِي ، فَبَيْنَا أَنَا أَجْمَعُ لِشَارِفَيَّ مَتَاعًا مِنَ الْأَقْتَابِ وَالْغَرَائِرِ وَالْحِبَالِ وَشَارِفَايَ مُنَاخَانِ إِلَى جَنْبِ حُجْرَةِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ وَجَمَعْتُ حِينَ جَمَعْتُ مَا جَمَعْتُ ، فَإِذَا شَارِفَايَ قَدِ اجْتُبَّتْ أَسْنِمَتُهُمَا وَبُقِرَتْ خَوَاصِرُهُمَا وَأُخِذَ مِنْ أَكْبَادِهِمَا ، فَلَمْ أَمْلِكْ عَيْنَيَّ حِينَ رَأَيْتُ ذَلِكَ الْمَنْظَرَ مِنْهُمَا ، قُلْتُ : مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا ؟ ، قَالُوا : فَعَلَهُ حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَهُوَ فِي هَذَا الْبَيْتِ فِي شَرْبٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ غَنَّتْهُ قَيْنَةٌ وَأَصْحَابَهُ ، فَقَالَتْ فِي غِنَائِهَا : أَلَا يَا حَمْزُ لِلشُّرُفِ النِّوَاءِ ؟ ، فَقَامَ حَمْزَةُ بِالسَّيْفِ فَاجْتَبَّ أَسْنِمَتَهُمَا وَبَقَرَ خَوَاصِرَهُمَا ، فَأَخَذَ مِنْ أَكْبَادِهِمَا ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ : فَانْطَلَقْتُ حَتَّى أَدْخُلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ ، قَالَ : فَعَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَجْهِيَ الَّذِي لَقِيتُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا لَكَ ؟ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ قَطُّ عَدَا حَمْزَةُ عَلَى نَاقَتَيَّ فَاجْتَبَّ أَسْنِمَتَهُمَا وَبَقَرَ خَوَاصِرَهُمَا وَهَهُوَ ذَا فِي بَيْتٍ مَعَهُ شَرْبٌ ، قَالَ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرِدَائِهِ فَارْتَدَاهُ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ يَمْشِي وَاتَّبَعْتُهُ أَنَا وَزَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ حَتَّى جَاءَ الْبَابَ الَّذِي فِيهِ حَمْزَةُ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَ فَأَذِنُوا لَهُ ، فَإِذَا هُمْ شَرْبٌ فَطَفِقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَلُومُ حَمْزَةَ فِيمَا فَعَلَ ، فَإِذَا حَمْزَةُ مُحْمَرَّةٌ عَيْنَاهُ ، فَنَظَرَ حَمْزَةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ صَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ثُمَّ صَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى سُرَّتِهِ ثُمَّ صَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى وَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ حَمْزَةُ : وَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا عَبِيدٌ لِأَبِي ، فَعَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ ثَمِلٌ ، فَنَكَصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ الْقَهْقَرَى وَخَرَجَ وَخَرَجْنَا مَعَهُ " .
Husain bin 'Ali reported 'Ali having said: There fell to my lot a she-camel out of the spoils of war on the Day of Badr, and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) gave me (another) she-camel on that day out of the Khums (one-fifth reserved for Allah and His Messenger). When I made up my mind to consummate my marriage with Fatima, the daughter of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , I prevailed upon a goldsmith of the tribe of Qainuqa' to go along with me so that we might bring Idhkhir wishing to sell that to the goldsmiths and thus I should be able to arrange my wedding feast. While I was arranging the equipments, i. e. litters, sacks and ropes, my two she-camels were sitting down at the side of the apartment of a person of the Ansar. I collected (the different articles of equipment) and found to my surprise that their humps had been chopped off and their haunches had been cut off and their livers had been taken out. I could not help weeping when I saw that plight of theirs. I said: Who has done that? They said: Hamza bin 'Abdul Muttalib has done this. and he is in this house dead drunk in the company of some of the Ansar with a singing girl singing before him and his companions. She said in her song: O Hamza, get up and attack these falty she-camels. Thereupon Hamza stood up with a sword (in his hand) and cut off their humps and ripped their haunches and tore out their livers. 'Ali said: I went away until I came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and there was with him Zaid bin Haritha. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) recognised from my face what I had experienced, whereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: What has happened to you? I said: Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I have never seen (such an unfortunate day) as this day. Hamza has committed aggression to my she-camels, and has cut off their humps. and ripped their haunches, and he is in a house in the company of some drunkards. (Hearing this) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent for his mantle and, putting it on him, he proceeded, and I and Zaid bin Haritha followed him, until he came to the door (of the house) in which there was Hamza. He (the Holy Prophet) sought permission which they granted him. They were all drunk. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) began to reprimand Hamza for what he had done. Hamza's eyes were red. He cast a glance at Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and then looked towards his knees, and then lifted his eyes and cast a glance at his waist and then lifted his eyes and saw his face. And then Hamza said: Are you anything but the slaves of my father? Alah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to know that he was intoxicated, and he thus turned upon his heels, and came out, and we also came out along with him.
Hadith 1981
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَرْحٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ قَتَادَةَ بْنَ دِعَامَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى أَنْ يُخْلَطَ التَّمْرُ وَالزَّهْوُ ثُمَّ يُشْرَبَ ، وَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ كَانَ عَامَّةَ خُمُورِهِمْ يَوْمَ حُرِّمَتِ الْخَمْرُ " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) is reported to have said that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had forbidden to mixture fresh dates and unripe dates and then drinking (the wine prepared out of it), and that was their common intoxicant when liquor was prohibited.
Hadith 1980
وحَدَّثَنِي وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَسْقِي أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ ، وَأَبَا طَلْحَةَ ، وَأُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ شَرَابًا مِنْ فَضِيخٍ وَتَمْرٍ فَأَتَاهُمْ آتٍ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الْخَمْرَ قَدْ حُرِّمَتْ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَا أَنَسُ : قُمْ إِلَى هَذِهِ الْجَرَّةِ فَاكْسِرْهَا ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَى مِهْرَاسٍ لَنَا فَضَرَبْتُهَا بِأَسْفَلِهِ حَتَّى تَكَسَّرَتْ " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported: I was serving drink to Abu 'Ubaida bin jarrah, Abu Talha and Ubayy bin Ka'b prepared from unripe dates and fresh dates when a visitor came and he said: Verily liquor has been prohibited. Thereupon, Abu Talha said: Anas, stand up and break this pitcher. I stood up and (took hold) of a pointed stone and struck the pitcher with its lower part until it broke into pieces.

وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، وَابْنُ رُمْحٍ ، عَنْ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْد . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ عَنْ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُثْمَانَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرُوا فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ إِلَّا مَالِكٌ وَأُسَامَةُ .
This hadith has been reported on the authority of Ibn 'Umar with different chains of transmitters but they have not mentioned: "In one of his expeditions" except Malik and Usama.
Hadith 2001
وحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي التُّجِيبِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَائِشَةَ ، تَقُولُ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْبِتْعِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلُّ شَرَابٍ أَسْكَرَ فَهُوَ حَرَامٌ " .
'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked about "Bit", whereupon he said that everything that causes intoxication is forbidden.
Hadith 2020
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ ، قَالَ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ حَرْمَلَةُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلَا يَشْرَبَنَّ بِهَا ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِهَا " ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ نَافِعٌ يَزِيدُ فِيهَا ، وَلَا يَأْخُذُ بِهَا وَلَا يُعْطِي بِهَا ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ لَا يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ .
Salim, on the authority of his father, reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: None of you should eat with his left hand and drink with that (left hand), for the Satan eats with the left hand and drinks with that (hand). Nafi' has made this addition in that: "Do not take up anything with that (left hand) and do not give anything with that" ; and in the narration transmitted on the authority of Abu Tahir there is a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 2023
وحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ اخْتِنَاثِ الْأَسْقِيَةِ أَنْ يُشْرَبَ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهَا " .
Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Allah's, Messenger (may peace he upon him) forbade from turning the waterskins upside down and drinking from their mouths.
