Hadith 3076
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : " حَجَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَ حَجَّاتٍ ، حَجَّتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُهَاجِرَ ، وَحَجَّةً بَعْدَ مَا هَاجَرَ مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ ، وَقَرَنَ مَعَ حَجَّتِهِ عُمْرَةً ، وَاجْتَمَعَ مَا جَاءَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَا جَاءَ بِهِ عَلِيٌّ مِائَةَ بَدَنَةٍ ، مِنْهَا جَمَلٌ لِأَبِي جَهْلٍ فِي أَنْفِهِ بُرَةٌ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ ، فَنَحَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ ثَلَاثًا وَسِتِّينَ ، وَنَحَرَ عَلِيٌّ مَا غَبَرَ " ، قِيلَ لَهُ : مَنْ ذَكَرَهُ ؟ ، قَالَ : جَعْفَرٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ .
´Sufyan said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed Hajj three times, twice before he emigrated, and once after he had emigrated, and once after he had emigrated to Al-Madinah. He performed ‘Umrah along with his Hajj. The total number of camels brought by the Prophet (ﷺ) and ‘Ali was one hundred. Among them was a (male) camel belonging to Abu Jahl, which had a silver ring in its nose. The Prophet (ﷺ) slaughtered sixty-three with his own hand, and ‘Ali slaughtered the rest.”
Hadith 3084
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَوْقَصَتْهُ رَاحِلَتُهُ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اغْسِلُوهُ بِمَاءٍ ، وَسِدْرٍ ، وَكَفِّنُوهُ فِي ثَوْبَيْهِ ، وَلَا تُخَمِّرُوا وَجْهَهُ وَلَا رَأْسَهُ ، فَإِنَّهُ يُبْعَثُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مُلَبِّيًا " ،
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man’s camel broke his neck while he was in the state of Ihram. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Bathe him with water and lotus leaves, and shroud him in both of his garments. Do not cover his face or his head, for he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection reciting the Talbiyah.”
Hadith 3100
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَهْدَى فِي بُدْنِهِ جَمَلًا لِأَبِي جَهْلٍ بُرَتُهُ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ " .
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that among the sacrificial animals the Prophet (ﷺ) included a (male) camel belonging to Abu Jahl, which had a silver nose ring.
Hadith 3102
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اشْتَرَى هَدْيَهُ مِنْ قُدَيْدٍ " .
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (ﷺ) bought his sacrificial animal from Qudaid.*
Hadith 3103
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، فَقَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا " ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا وَيْحَكَ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) saw a man driving a camel and said:` “Ride it.” He said: “It is a sacrificial animal.” He said: “Ride it, woe to you!”
Hadith 3122
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ ، اشْتَرَى كَبْشَيْنِ عَظِيمَيْنِ سَمِينَيْنِ أَقْرَنَيْنِ أَمْلَحَيْنِ مَوْجُوءَيْنِ ، فَذَبَحَ أَحَدَهُمَا عَنْ أُمَّتِهِ لِمَنْ شَهِدَ لِلَّهِ بِالتَّوْحِيدِ وَشَهِدَ لَهُ بِالْبَلَاغِ ، وَذَبَحَ الْآخَرَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَنْ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It was narrated from ‘Aishah and Abu Hurairah that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wanted to offer a sacrifice, he brought two large, fat, horned, black-and-white, castrated rams. He slaughtered one on behalf of his nation, for whoever testified to Allah with monotheism and that he had conveyed (the Message), and he slaughtered the other on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad (ﷺ).
Hadith 3137
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُحَارِبِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ ، ح حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ مِنْ تِهَامَةَ ، فَأَصَبْنَا إِبِلًا وَغَنَمًا فَعَجِلَ الْقَوْمُ فَأَغْلَيْنَا الْقُدُورَ ، قَبْلَ أَنْ تُقْسَمَ ، فَأَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا ، فَأُكْفِئَتْ ثُمَّ عَدَلَ الْجَزُورَ بِعَشَرَةٍ مِنَ الْغَنَمِ " .
´It was narrated that Rafi’ bin Khadij said:` “We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in Dhul-Hulaifah in (the land of) Tihamah. We acquired sheep and camels and the people hastened to put cooking pots on the fires before they had been distributed. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to us and ordered that they be overturned,* then he made one camel equivalent to ten sheep.”
Hadith 3140
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَالُ لَهُ : مُجَاشِعٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ ، فَعَزَّتِ الْغَنَمُ فَأَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا ، فَنَادَى أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ الْجَذَعَ يُوفِي مِمَّا تُوفِي مِنْهُ الثَّنِيَّةُ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Asim bin Kulaib that his father said:` “We were with a man from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) who was called Mujashi’, from Banu Sulaim, and sheep became scarce. He ordered a caller to call out that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say: ‘A Jadha’a suffices for whatever a two-year-old sheep suffices.’”
Hadith 3146
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَبُو بكر ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَرَظَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : " ابْتَعْنَا كَبْشًا نُضَحِّي بِهِ ، فَأَصَابَ الذِّئْبُ مِنْ أَلْيَتِهِ أَوْ أُذُنِهِ ، فَسَأَلْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نُضَحِّيَ بِهِ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said:` “We bought a ram for sacrifice, then a wolf tore some flesh from its rump and ears. We asked the Prophet (ﷺ) and he told us to offer it as a sacrifice.”
Hadith 3148
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ بَيَانٍ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَرِيحَةَ ، قَالَ : " حَمَلَنِي أَهْلِي عَلَى الْجَفَاءِ بَعْدَ مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ ، كَانَ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ يُضَحُّونَ بِالشَّاةِ وَالشَّاتَيْنِ ، وَالْآنَ يُبَخِّلُنَا جِيرَانُنَا " .
´It was narrated that Abu Sarihah said:` “My family started to put pressure on me after I came to know the Sunnah. People used to sacrifice one or two sheep, but now our neighbors call us stingy.”
Hadith 3159
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " إِنَّمَا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْأَضَاحِيِّ ، لِجَهْدِ النَّاسِ ، ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ فِيهَا " .
´It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) only forbade storing the meat of the sacrifices because the people were facing hardship. Then later he permitted that.”
Hadith 3177
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ مُرِّيِّ بْنِ قَطَرِيٍّ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ ابْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّا نَصِيدُ الصَّيْدَ فَلَا نَجِدُ سِكِّينًا ، إِلَّا الظِّرَارَ وَشِقَّةَ الْعَصَا ، قَالَ : " أَمْرِرِ الدَّمَ بِمَا شِئْتَ ، وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Adi bin Hatim said:` “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we hunt game but we cannot find anything but the sharp edge of a stone or stick (with which to slaughter it).’ He said: ‘Cause the blood to flow with whatever you want, and mention the Name of Allah over it.’”
Hadith 3187
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَتَّخِذُوا شَيْئًا فِيهِ الرُّوحُ غَرَضًا ".
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` ‘Do not take anything with a soul as a target.”
Hadith 3197
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ ، وَمَعْمَرٌ جميعا ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْجَزَرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَأْكُلُ لُحُومَ الْخَيْلِ ، قُلْتُ : فَالْبِغَالُ ؟ ، قَالَ : لَا " .
´It was narrated that ‘Ata’ narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said:` “We used to eat the meat of horses.” I said: “And mules?” He said: “No.”
Hadith 3259
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " مَا عَابَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامًا قَطُّ إِنْ رَضِيَهُ أَكَلَهُ ، وَإِلَّا تَرَكَهُ " .
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never found fault with any food; if he liked it, he would eat it, and if he did not like it, he would leave it.
Hadith 3270
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَمْسَحْ أَحَدُكُمْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي فِي أَيِّ طَعَامِهِ الْبَرَكَةُ " .
´It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “None of you should wipe his hand until he has licked it, for he does not know where the blessing if in his food.’”
Hadith 3298
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَتْ : أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِطَعَامٍ , فَعَرَضَ عَلَيْنَا ، فَقُلْنَا : لَا نَشْتَهِيهِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا تَجْمَعْنَ جُوعًا وَكَذِبًا " .
´It was narrated that Asma’ bint Yazid said:` “Some food was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) and it was offered to us. We said: ‘We do not have any appetite for it.’ He said: ‘Do not combine hunger and lies.’”
Hadith 3313
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ , أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , قَالَتْ : " لَقَدْ كُنَّا نَرْفَعُ الْكُرَاعَ فَيَأْكُلُهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , بَعْدَ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ مِنَ الْأَضَاحِيِّ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:` “We used to store trotters and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would eat them fifteen days after the sacrifice.”
Hadith 3331
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ , سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ , يَقُولُ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَنْ يَقْرِنَ الرَّجُلُ بَيْنَ التَّمْرَتَيْنِ حَتَّى يَسْتَأْذِنَ أَصْحَابَهُ " .
´Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade eating two dates at once unless he asks his companions permission to do so.”
Hadith 3438
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ , عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ دَاءً , إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ دَوَاءً " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “Allah does not send down any disease, but He also sends down the cure for it.”
Hadith 3452
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَيْكُمْ بِالشِّفَاءَيْنِ : الْعَسَلِ وَالْقُرْآنِ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “You should take the two that bring healing: Honey and the Qur’an.”
Hadith 3494
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي الْخَصِيبِ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ , عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَوَى سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ فِي أَكْحَلِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ " .
It was narrated from Jabir bin ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cauterized Sa’d bin Mu’adh on his medial arm vein, twice.
Hadith 3497
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خَيْرُ أَكْحَالِكُمُ الْإِثْمِدُ , يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعَ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The best of your kohl is antimony, for it improves the eyesight and makes the hair (eyelashes) grow.”
Hadith 3512
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي الْخَصِيبِ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , وَمِسْعَرٍ , عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَسْتَرْقِيَ مِنَ الْعَيْنِ " .
It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Prophet (ﷺ) commanded her to recite Ruqyah to treat the evil eye.
Hadith 3516
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَاصِمٍ , عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ , عَنْ أَنَسٍ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " رَخَّصَ فِي الرُّقْيَةِ مِنَ الْحُمَةِ , وَالْعَيْنِ وَالنَّمْلَةِ " .
It was narrated from Anas that the Prophet (ﷺ) allowed Ruqyah for the scorpion’s sting, the evil eye, and Namlah (sores or small pustules ulcers or sores on a person’s sides).
Hadith 3518
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ بَهْرَامَ , حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قَالَ : لَدَغَتْ عَقْرَبٌ رَجُلًا , فَلَمْ يَنَمْ لَيْلَتَهُ , فَقِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ فُلَانًا لَدَغَتْهُ عَقْرَبٌ فَلَمْ يَنَمْ لَيْلَتَهُ , فَقَالَ : " أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَوْ قَالَ حِينَ أَمْسَى : أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ , مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ , مَا ضَرَّهُ لَدْغُ عَقْرَبٍ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “A scorpion stung a man and he did not sleep all the night. It was said to the Prophet (ﷺ): ‘So- and-so was stung by a scorpion and he did not sleep all the night.’ He said: ‘If he had said, last night: A’udhu bikalimatil-lahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of that which He has created), the scorpion sting would not have harmed him, until morning.’”
Hadith 3524
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ ثُوَيْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قَالَ : جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعُودُنِي , فَقَالَ لِي : " أَلَا أَرْقِيكَ بِرُقْيَةٍ جَاءَنِي بِهَا جِبْرَائِيلُ ؟ قُلْتُ : بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي , بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَرْقِيكَ , وَاللَّهُ يَشْفِيكَ مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ فِيكَ , مِنْ شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ , وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) came to visit me (when I was sick), and said to me: ‘Shall I not recite for you a Ruqyah that Jibra’il brought to me?’ I said: ‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you! Yes, O Messenger of Allah!’ He said: Bismillah arqika, wallahu yashfika, min kulli da’in fika, min sharrin- naffathati fil-‘uqad, wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad (In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you, from every disease that is in you, and from the evil of those who (practice witchcraft when they) blow in the knots, and from the evil of the envier when he envies), three times.”
Hadith 3525
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ هِشَامٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ , عَنْ مِنْهَالٍ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعَوِّذُ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ , يَقُولُ : " أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ , وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ " , قَالَ : " وَكَانَ أَبُونَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ يُعَوِّذُ بِهَا إِسْمَاعِيل وَإِسْحَاق " أَوْ قَالَ : إِسْمَاعِيل وَيَعْقُوبَ , وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ وَكِيعٍ .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) used to seek refuge for Hasan and Husain and say: A’udhu bi kalimatil-lahil- tammati, min kulli shaitanin wa hammah, wa min kulli ‘aynin lammah (I seek refuge for you both in the Perfect Words of Allah, from every devil and every poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye).’ And he would say: ‘Thus Ibrahim used to seek refuge with Allah for Isma’il and Ishaq,’ or he said: ‘for Isma’il and Ya’qub.’”
Hadith 3538
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ عَاصِمٍ , عَنْ زِرٍّ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الطِّيَرَةُ شِرْكٌ وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا , وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُذْهِبُهُ بِالتَّوَكُّلِ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The omen is polytheistic deed and anyone of us may think he sees an omen but Allah will dispel it by means of relying upon Him.”
Hadith 3567
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ , عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ , عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْبَسُوا ثِيَابَ الْبَيَاضِ , فَإِنَّهَا أَطْهَرُ وَأَطْيَبُ " .
´It was narrated from Samurah bin Jundab that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Wear white garments, for they are purer and better.”
Hadith 3579
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى , وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ , قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ , عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ , قَالَ : " أَتَانَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَاوَمَنَا سَرَاوِيلَ " .
´It was narrated that Suwaid bin Qais said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) came to us and haggled with us over the price of trousers.”
Hadith 3581
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ زَيْدٍ الْعَمِّيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ " أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , رُخِّصَ لَهُنَّ فِي الذَّيْلِ ذِرَاعًا , فَكُنَّ يَأْتِيَنَّا فَنَذْرَعُ لَهُنَّ بِالْقَصَبِ ذِرَاعًا " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar:` “The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) were allowed to let their hems hang down, so they used to come to us and we would measure one forearms length for them with a reed.”
Hadith 3614
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ , قَالَ : " كَانَ لِنَعْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قِبَالَانِ مَثْنِيٌّ شِرَاكُهُمَا " .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas said:` “The sandals of the Prophet (ﷺ) had two thongs doubled around their straps.”
Hadith 3619
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْ يَنْتَعِلَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade putting on sandals whilst standing.”
Hadith 3636
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ , وَسُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ , قَالَ : رَآنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلِي شَعَرٌ طَوِيلٌ , فَقَالَ : " ذُبَابٌ ذُبَابٌ " , فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَأَخَذْتُهُ , فَرَآنِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي لَمْ أَعْنِكَ وَهَذَا أَحْسَنُ " .
´It was narrated that Wa’il bin Hujr said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) saw me when I had long hair. He said: ‘Bad news, bad news!’ So I went away and cut it short. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) saw me and said: ‘I did not mean you, but this is better.’”
Hadith 3677
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ , عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ , عَنْ الْمِقْدَامِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْلَةُ الضَّيْفِ وَاجِبَةٌ , فَإِنْ أَصْبَحَ بِفِنَائِهِ فَهُوَ دَيْنٌ عَلَيْهِ , فَإِنْ شَاءَ اقْتَضَى وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ " .
´It was narrated that Miqdam Abu Karimah said:` "The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said: ' Putting up a guest for one night is obligatory. If you find a guest at your door in the morning, then this (hospitality) is (like) a debt that you (the host) owe him. If he (the guest) wants, he may request it, and if he wants, he may leave it'"
Hadith 3718
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ مِينَاءَ , عَنْ جُودَانَ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنِ اعْتَذَرَ إِلَى أَخِيهِ بِمَعْذِرَةٍ فَلَمْ يَقْبَلْهَا , كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلُ خَطِيئَةِ صَاحِبِ مَكْسٍ " ,
Jozan says that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever seeks an excuse from his brother, and then he does not accept it, then he will have as much sin as a tax collector has for his fault."
Hadith 3718M
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ , عَنْ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هُوَ ابْنُ مِينَاءَ , عَنْ جُودَانَ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , مِثْلَهُ .
'With this chain also,' a similar narration is reported as marfu'.
Hadith 3729
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ , عَنْ جَابِرٍ , عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَئِنْ عِشْتُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ , لَأَنْهَيَنَّ أَنْ يُسَمَّى رَبَاحٌ , وَنَجِيحٌ , وَأَفْلَحُ , وَنَافِعٌ , وَيَسَارٌ " .
´It was narrated from 'Umar ibn Al-Khattab that the Prophet(ﷺ) said:` "If I live- if Allah wills - I will forbid the names Rabah(profit), Najih(saved), Aflah (Successful), Nafi (beneficial) and Yasar(prosperity)."
Hadith 3742
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ , عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ , عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ , عَنْ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو , قَالَ : أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْ نَحْثُوَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ " .
´It was narrated that Miqdad bin 'Amr said:` "The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) commanded us to throw dust in the faces of those who praise others."
