Hadith 41
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ حَدَّثَ عَنِّي بِحَدِيثٍ وَهُوَ يَرَى أَنَّهُ كَذِبٌ فَهُوَ أَحَدُ الْكَاذِبَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated that Mughirah bin Shu'bah said:` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: '"Whoever narrates a Hadith from me thinking it to be false, then he is one of the two liars."
Hadith 57
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْإِيمَانُ بِضْعٌ وَسِتُّونَ ، أَوْ سَبْعُونَ بَابًا ، أَدْنَاهَا إِمَاطَةُ الْأَذَى عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ ، وَأَرْفَعُهَا قَوْلُ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَالْحَيَاءُ شُعْبَةٌ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Faith has sixty-some or seventy parts, the least of which is to remove a harmful thing from the road and the greatest of which is to say La ilaha illalah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). And modesty is a branch of faith.'" Another chain from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet (ﷺ) with similar wording.
Hadith 83
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيل الْمَخْزُومِيِّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَ مُشْرِكُو قُرَيْشٍ يُخَاصِمُونَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْقَدَرِ ، فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ : يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ { 48 } إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ { 49 } سورة القمر آية 48-49 .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "The idolators and Quraish came and disputed with the Prophet (ﷺ) concerning the Divine Decree. Then the following verse was revealed: 'The Day they will be dragged on their faces into the Fire (it will be said to them): "Taste you the touch of Hell!" Verily We have created all things with Qadar. (Divine Decree)'"
Hadith 90
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيسَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَزِيدُ فِي الْعُمْرِ إِلَّا الْبِرُّ ، وَلَا يَرُدُّ الْقَدَرَ إِلَّا الدُّعَاءُ ، وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُحْرَمُ الرِّزْقَ بِخَطِيئَةٍ يَعْمَلُهَا " .
´It was narrated that Thawban said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Nothing extends one's life span but righteousness, nothing averts the Divine Decree but supplication, and nothing deprives a man of provision but the sin that he commits.'"
Hadith 97
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ مَوْلًى لِرِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي لَا أَدْرِي مَا قَدْرُ بَقَائِي فِيكُمْ ، فَاقْتَدُوا بِاللَّذَيْنِ مِنْ بَعْدِي ، وَأَشَارَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ " .
´It was narrated that Hudhaifah bin Yaman said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'I do not know how long I will stay among you, so follow the example of these two after I am gone,' and he pointed to Abu Bakr and `Umar."
Hadith 122
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ قُرَيْظَةَ : " مَنْ يَأْتِينَا بِخَبَرِ الْقَوْمِ " ، فَقَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ : أَنَا ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ يَأْتِينَا بِخَبَرِ الْقَوْمِ " ، فَقَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ : أَنَا ثَلَاثًا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ حَوَارِيٌّ وَإِنَّ حَوَارِيَّ الزُّبَيْرُ " .
´It was narrated that Jabir said:` "The Messenger of Allah said on the Day of Quraizah: 'Who will bring us news of the people?' Zubair said: 'I will.' The Prophet said: 'Who will bring us news of the people?' Zubair said: 'I will,' three times. Every Prophet has a Hawari (sincere supporter or disciple) and my Hawari is Zubair.'"
Hadith 135
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَهْلِ نَجْرَانَ : " سَأَبْعَثُ مَعَكُمْ رَجُلًا أَمِينًا حَقَّ أَمِينٍ " ، قَالَ : فَتَشَوَّفَ لَهَا النَّاسُ ، " فَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ " .
´It was narrated from Hudhaifah that:` The Messenger of Allah said to the people of Najran: "I will send you a trustworthy man with you, who is indeed trustworthy." The people craned their necks to see, and he sent Abu 'Ubaidah bin Jarrah.
Hadith 137
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ كُنْتُ مُسْتَخْلِفًا أَحَدًا عَنْ غَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ لَاسْتَخْلَفْتُ ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ " .
´It was narrated that 'Ali said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'If I were to appoint anyone as my successor without consulting anyone, I would have appointed Ibn Umm 'Abd.'"
Hadith 143
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْفٍ أَبِي الْحَجَّافِ وَكَانَ مَرْضِيًّا ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَحَبَّ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ فَقَدْ أَحَبَّنِي ، وَمَنْ أَبْغَضَهُمَا فَقَدْ أَبْغَضَنِي " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever loves Hasan and Husain, loves me; and whoever hates them, hates me.'"
Hadith 146
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ هَانِئِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاسْتَأْذَنَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ائْذَنُوا لَهُ مَرْحَبًا بِالطَّيِّبِ الْمُطَيَّبِ " .
´It was narrated that 'Ali bin Abu Talib said:` "I was sitting with the Prophet, and 'Ammar bin Yasir asked permission to enter. The Prophet said: 'Let him in, welcome to the good and the purified.'"
Hadith 153
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ أَبِي لَيْلَى الْكِنْدِيِّ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ خَبَّابٌ إِلَى عُمَرَ ، فَقَالَ : " ادْنُ فَمَا أَحَدٌ أَحَقَّ بِهَذَا الْمَجْلِسِ مِنْكَ إِلَّا عَمَّارٌ ، فَجَعَلَ خَبَّابٌ يُرِيهِ آثَارًا بِظَهْرِهِ مِمَّا عَذَّبَهُ الْمُشْرِكُونَ 2 " .
´It was narrated that Abu Laila Al-Kindi said:` "Khabbab came to `Umar and said: 'Come close, for no one deserves this meeting more than you, except `Ammar.' Then Khabbab started to show him the marks on his back where the idolaters had tortured him."
Hadith 155
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، مِثْلَهُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ قُدَامَةَ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ فِي حَقِّ زَيْدٍ : " وَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالْفَرَائِضِ " .
´Another chain with similar wording (as no. 154) but he said that:` Zaid was: "The most knowledgeable of them concerning the rules of inheritance."
Hadith 160
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ أَوْ مَلَكٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " مَا تَعُدُّونَ مَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا فِيكُمْ " ، قَالُوا : خِيَارَنَا ، قَالَ : " كَذَلِكَ هُمْ عِنْدَنَا خِيَارُ الْمَلَائِكَةِ " .
´Rafi' bin Khadij said:` "Jibril or an angel came to the Prophet and said: 'How do you regard those among you who were present at Badr?' He said: 'They are the best among us.' He said: 'We think the same (of the angels who were present at Badr), they are the best of the angels.'"
Hadith 162
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ نُسَيْرِ بْنِ ذُعْلُوقٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا تَسُبُّوا أَصْحَابَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمُقَامُ أَحَدِهِمْ سَاعَةً خَيْرٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ أَحَدِكُمْ عُمْرَهُ " .
´It was narrated that Nusair bin Dhu'luq said:` "Ibn 'Umar used to say: 'Do not revile the Companions of Muhammed, for the stay of anyone of them for a brief period (with the Prophet) is better than all the good deeds that anyone of you does in his lifetime.'"
Hadith 191
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَضْحَكُ إِلَى رَجُلَيْنِ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُهُمَا الْآخَرَ كِلَاهُمَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ ، يُقَاتِلُ هَذَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَيُسْتَشْهَدُ ، ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَى قَاتِلِهِ ، فَيُسْلِمُ فَيُقَاتِلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَيُسْتَشْهَدُ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah will laugh at two persons- one of them kills the other, and both of them enter Paradise, for the first one fought in the cause of Allah and was martyred, then his killer repented to Allah and became Muslim, then he also fought in the cause of Allah and was martyred.'"
Hadith 211
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَسُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَالَ شُعْبَة : " خَيْرُكُمْ " ، وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ : " أَفْضَلُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ " .
´It was narrated that 'Uthman bin 'Affan said that:` The Messenger of Allah said: (According to one of the narrators) Shu'bah (he) said: 'The best of you' (and according to) Sufyan (he) said: "The most excellent of you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it."
Hadith 212
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْضَلُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ " .
´It was narrated that 'Uthmaan bin 'Affan said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'The most excellent of you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.'"
Hadith 246
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ نُبَيْحٍ الْعَنَزِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم إِذَا مَشَى مَشَى أَصْحَابُهُ أَمَامَهُ وَتَرَكُوا ظَهْرَهُ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ " .
´It was narrarted that Jabir bin 'Abdullah said:` "When the Prophet walked, his Companions would walk in front of him, and he would leave his back for the angels."
Hadith 249
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْعَنْقَزِيُّ ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هَارُونَ الْعَبْدِيِّ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا إِذَا أَتَيْنَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، قَالَ : مَرْحَبًا بِوَصِيَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَنَا : " إِنَّ النَّاسَ لَكُمْ تَبَعٌ ، وَإِنَّهُمْ سَيَأْتُونَكُمْ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ الْأَرْضِ يَتَفَقَّهُونَ فِي الدِّينِ ، فَإِذَا جَاءُوكُمْ فَاسْتَوْصُوا بِهِمْ خَيْرًا " .
´It was narrated that Abu Harun Al-'Abdi said:` "When we came to Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri, he would say: 'Welcome, in accordance with the injunction of the Messenger of Allah, for the Messenger of Allah said to us: "The people will follow you; they will come to you from all parts of the earth seeking to understand the religion. So when they come to you, take care of them."
Hadith 275
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مِفْتَاحُ الصَّلَاةِ الطُّهُورُ ، وَتَحْرِيمُهَا التَّكْبِيرُ ، وَتَحْلِيلُهَا التَّسْلِيمُ " .
´It was narrated from Muhammed bin Al-Hanafiyyah that his father said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'The key to prayer is purification, its opening is to say 'Allahu Akbar' and its closing is to say As-salamu 'alaikum.'"
Hadith 277
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اسْتَقِيمُوا وَلَنْ تُحْصُوا ، وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ خَيْرَ أَعْمَالِكُمُ الصَّلَاةَ ، وَلَا يُحَافِظُ عَلَى الْوُضُوءِ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ " .
´It was narrated that Thawban said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Adhere to righteousness even though you will not be able to do all acts of virtue. Know that the best of your deeds is Salat (prayer) and that no one maintains his ablution except a believer.'"
Hadith 286
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَحُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَتَهَجَّدُ ، يَشُوصُ فَاهُ بِالسِّوَاكِ " .
´It was narrated that Hudhaifah said:` "Whenever the Messenger of Allah got up for prayer at night to pray Tahajjud (night optional prayer), he would clean his mouth with the tooth stick."
Hadith 316
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَالْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُمْ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ بِهِ : إِنِّي أَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةِ ، قَالَ : أَجَلْ ، " أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ ، وَلَا نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا ، وَلَا نَكْتَفِيَ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ ، وَلَا عَظْمٌ " .
´Salman said that one of the idolaters said to him, while they were making fun of him:` "I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?" He said: "Yes indeed. He has ordered us not to face the Qiblah (prayer direction) nor to clean ourselves with our right hands, and not to be content with anything less than three stones, which are not to include any excrement or bones."
Hadith 353
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ العسقلاني ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " مَرَّ رَجُلٌ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَبُولُ ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said:` "A man passed by the Prophet while he was urinating and greeted him with the Salam, and he did not return the greeting."
Hadith 371
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : " أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اغْتَسَلَتْ مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ ، فَتَوَضَّأَ ، أَوِ اغْتَسَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ فَضْلِ وَضُوئِهَا " .
´It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that:` One of the wives of the Prophet took a bath to cleanse herself from sexual impurity, then the Prophet performed ablution and had a bath with the water left over from her ablution."
Hadith 384
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي فَزَارَةَ الْعَبْسِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي زَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ لَيْلَةَ الْجِنِّ : " عِنْدَكَ طَهُورٌ " ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، إِلَّا شَيْءٌ مِنْ نَبِيذٍ فِي إِدَاوَةٍ ، قَالَ : " تَمْرَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ ، وَمَاءٌ طَهُورٌ " ، فَتَوَضَّأَ هَذَا حَدِيثُ وَكِيعٍ .
´It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud that :` On the night of the jinn, the Messenger of Allah said to him: "Do you have water for ablution?" He said: "No, I have nothing, but some Nabidh in a vessel." He said: "Good dates and pure water (i.e. there is no harm from the mixing of the two)." So he performed ablution with it. This is the narration of Waki'.
Hadith 411
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ غُرْفَةً غُرْفَةً " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "I saw the Messenger of Allah performing ablution, taking one handful (of water) at a time.'"
Hadith 417
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَتَوَضَّأُ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا " .
´It was narrated that Abu Malik Ash'ari said:` "The Messenger of Allah used to perform ablution washing each part three times."
Hadith 418
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ ابْنِ عَفْرَاءَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " تَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا " .
´It was narrated from Rabi' bint Mu'awwidh bin 'Afra' that:` The Messenger of Allah performed ablution washing each part three times.
Hadith 422
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِي يَعْلَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ ؟ فَأَرَاهُ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " هَذَا الْوُضُوءُ فَمَنْ زَادَ عَلَى هَذَا فَقَدْ أَسَاءَ ، أَوْ تَعَدَّى ، أَوْ ظَلَمَ " .
´It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib from his father, from his grandfather, that:` A Bedouin came to the Prophet and asked him about ablution. He showed him how to perform it washing each part of the body three times. Then he said: 'This is the ablution, and whoever does more than this, has done evil, transgressed the limits and wronged himself.'"
Hadith 438
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ ابْنِ عَفْرَاءَ ، قَالَتْ : " تَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated that Ar-Rubai' bint Mu'awwidh bin 'Afra' said:` "The Messenger of Allah performed ablution and wiped his head twice."
Hadith 450
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَوْمًا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ وَأَعْقَابُهُمْ تَلُوحُ ، فَقَالَ : " وَيْلٌ لِلْأَعْقَابِ مِنَ النَّارِ ، أَسْبِغُوا الْوُضُوءَ " .
´'Abdullah bin 'Amr said:` "The Messenger of Allah saw some people performing ablution, and their heels were dry. He said: 'Woe to the heels because of Hell-fire, perform ablution properly!'"
Hadith 510
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يَتَوَضَّأُ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ صَلَّى الصَّلَوَاتِ كُلَّهَا بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ " .
´Sulaiman bin Buraidah narrated from his father that:` The Prophet used to perform ablution for every prayer, but on the day of the conquest of Makkah, he performed all of the prayers with one ablution.
Hadith 553
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : " جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثًا ، وَلَوْ مَضَى السَّائِلُ عَلَى مَسْأَلَتِهِ لَجَعَلَهَا خَمْسًا " .
´It was narrated that Khuzaimah bin Thabit said:` "The Messenger of Allah set a time limit for the traveler of three days, and if the questioner had persisted in asking, he would have made it five (days)."
Hadith 559
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ الْأَوْدِيِّ ، عَنِ الْهُزَيْلِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْجَوْرَبَيْنِ وَالنَّعْلَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated from Mughirah bin Shu'bah that:` The Messenger of Allah performed ablution and wiped over his socks and his sandals.
Hadith 583
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُجْنِبُ ، ثُمَّ يَنَامُ كَهَيْئَتِهِ لَا يَمَسُّ مَاءً " ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : فَذَكَرْتُ الْحَدِيثَ يَوْمًا ، فَقَالَ لِي إِسْمَاعِيل : يَا فَتَى يُشَدُّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ بِشَيْءٍ .
´It was narrated from 'Aishah that:` The Messenger of Allah would become sexually impure then sleep as he was, without touching water. (Da'if)Sufyan said: "I mentioned this Hadith one day, and Isma'il said to me: 'O young man, you should support this Hadith with something else.'"
Hadith 588
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، وَأَبُو أَحْمَدَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يَطُوفُ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ فِي غُسْلٍ وَاحِدٍ " .
´It was narrated from Anas that:` The Prophet used to go round to all his wives with one bath.
Hadith 602
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتِ حَكِيمٍ ، أَنَّهَا " سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ ؟ فَقَالَ : " لَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا غُسْلٌ حَتَّى تُنْزِلَ ، كَمَا أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ غُسْلٌ حَتَّى يُنْزِلَ " .
´It was narrated from Khawlah bint Hakim that:` She asked the Messenger of Allah about a woman who sees in her dream that which a man sees. He said: "She does not have to take a bath unless she has an orgasm, just as man does not have to take a bath unless he has an orgasm."
Hadith 628
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ أَبِي الْمِقْدَامِ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ ، قَالَتْ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ دَمِ الْحَيْضِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ ؟ قَالَ : " اغْسِلِيهِ بِالْمَاءِ ، وَالسِّدْرِ ، وَحُكِّيهِ وَلَوْ بِضِلَعٍ " .
´It was narrated that Umm Qais bint Mihsan said:` "I asked the Messenger of Allah about menstrual blood that gets on clothing. He said, 'Wash it with water and lote leaves, and rub it, even with a piece of stick.'"
Hadith 634
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ صَفِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : لَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَضَعُ رَأْسَهُ فِي حِجْرِي وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ ، وَيَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ " .
´It was narrated that 'Aishah said:` "The Messenger of Allah used to put his head in my lap when I was menstruating and recite Qur'an."
