Ibn Ishaq narrates that when Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) handed the sword to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), he recited these verses: "O Fatimah! Take this sword, which is not blameworthy; I am neither a coward nor mean-spirited. By my life! I have fulfilled the duty (of striving) in support of Ahmad (peace and blessings be upon him) and for the pleasure of the Lord who is most merciful to His servants."
