The best perfume for men is that whose scent is apparent and color hidden, and the best perfume for women is that whose color is apparent and scent hidden

Renunciation of the world brings comfort to the heart and body, desire for the world increases worry and grief, and idleness hardens the heart

Looking at greenery increases eyesight, and looking at a beautiful woman increases eyesight

The trustworthy treasurer who gives what he is commanded willingly is one of the givers of charity

The ruler is the shade of Allah on earth; every oppressed person seeks refuge with him

85 كَلَامُ ابْنِ آدَمَ كُلُّهُ عَلَيْهِ لَا لَهُ، إِلَّا أَمْرًا بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ نَهْيًا عَنْ مُنْكَرٍ أَوْ ذِكْرَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى

All the speech of the son of Adam is against him, not for him, except commanding good, forbidding evil, or remembrance of Allah

86 التُّؤَدَةُ وَالتَّثَبُّتُ وَالِاقْتِصَادُ وَالصَّمتُ جُزْءٌ مِنْ سِتَّةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ جُزْءًا مِنَ النُّبُوَّةِ

Deliberation, confirmation, moderation, and silence are twenty-six parts of prophethood

87 الْأَنْبِيَاءُ قَادَةٌ وَالْفُقَهَاءُ سَادَةٌ وَمُجَالَسَتُهُمْ زِيَادَةٌ

The prophets are leaders, the jurists are masters, and sitting with them is an increase (in goodness)

88 الْمُتَشَبِّعُ بِمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ كَلَابِسِ ثَوْبَيْ زُورٍ

The one who pretends to have what he does not is like one wearing two garments of falsehood

Ablution before food prevents poverty, and after it prevents minor sins and improves eyesight

90 الْقَاصُّ يَنْتَظِرُ الْمَقْتَ، وَالْمُسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْهِ يَنْتَظِرُ الرَّحْمَةَ، وَالتَّاجِرُ يَنْتَظِرُ الرِّزْقَ، وَالْمُحْتَكِرُ يَنْتَظِرُ اللَّعْنَةَ

The preacher awaits punishment, the listener awaits mercy, the merchant awaits provision, and the hoarder awaits the curse

91 السَّعَادَةُ كُلُّ السَّعَادَةِ طُولُ الْعُمُرِ فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

All happiness is long life in obedience to Allah

92 الشَّقِيُّ كُلُّ الشَّقِيِّ مَنْ أَدْرَكَتْهُ السَّاعَةُ حَيًّا لَمْ يَمُتْ

The truly wretched is the one whom the Hour overtakes alive and he has not died

93 الْوَيْلُ كُلُّ الْوَيْلِ لِمَنْ تَرَكَ عِيَالَهُ بِخَيْرٍ وَقَدِمَ عَلَى رَبِّهِ بِشَرٍّ

Woe, all woe, to the one who leaves his family in good and meets his Lord in evil

94 دَعْوَةُ الْمَظْلُومِ مُسْتَجَابَةٌ، وَإِنْ كَانَ فَاجِرًا، فَفُجُورُهُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ

The supplication of the oppressed is answered, even if he is wicked; his wickedness is against himself

95 ثَلَاثُ دَعَوَاتٍ مُسْتَجَابَاتٌ لَا شَكُّ فِيهِنَّ: دَعْوَةُ الْمَظْلُومِ، وَدَعْوَةُ الْمُسَافِرِ، وَدَعْوَةُ الْوَالِدِ عَلَى وَلَدِهِ

Three supplications are answered without doubt: the supplication of the oppressed, the traveler, and the parent against his child

99 عَيْنَانِ لَا تَمَسُّهُمَا النَّارُ عَيْنٌ بَكَتْ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ، وَعَيْنٌ بَاتَتْ تَحْرُسُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ.

Two eyes that the Fire will not touch: an eye that weeps in the night out of fear of Allah, and an eye that stays awake guarding in the way of Allah

100 مَنْهُومَانِ لَا يَشْبَعَانِ طَالِبُ عِلْمٍ وَطَالِبُ دُنْيَا

Two insatiable ones: the seeker of knowledge and the seeker of the world

Four whom Allah hates: the swearing seller, the arrogant poor, the adulterous old man, and the unjust leader

103 ثَلَاثٌ مُهْلِكَاتٌ، وَثَلَاثٌ مُنْجِيَاتٌ , فَالثَّلَاثُ الْمُهْلِكَاتُ: شُحٌّ مُطَاعٌ، وَهَوًى مُتَّبَعٌ، وَإِعْجَابُ الْمَرْءِ بِنَفْسِهِ. وَالثَّلَاثُ الْمُنْجِيَاتُ: خَشْيَةُ اللَّهِ فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلَانِيَةِ، وَالْقَصْدُ فِي الْفَقْرِ وَالْغِنَى، وَالْعَدْلُ فِي الْغَضَبِ وَالرِّضَا

Three destructive things and three saving things: the destructive are obeyed greed, followed desire, and self-admiration; the saving are fear of Allah in private and public, moderation in poverty and wealth, and justice in anger and pleasure

104 الْمُسْتَبَّانِ مَا قَالَا، فَهُوَ عَلَى الْبَادِئِ حَتَّى يَعْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ

When two people insult each other, what they say is upon the initiator until the wronged exceeds the limit

105 أَنَا فَرَطُكُمُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ

I am your predecessor at the Pond

106 أَنَا وَكَافِلُ الْيَتِيمِ كَهَاتَيْنِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوسْطَى

I and the sponsor of an orphan will be like these two in Paradise (and he indicated his index and middle fingers)

I am the warner, death is the destroyer, and the Hour is the appointed time

Whoever remains silent is saved

109 مَنْ تَوَاضَعَ لِلَّهِ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ، وَمَنْ تُكَبِّرَ وَضَعَهُ اللَّهُ

Whoever humbles himself for Allah, Allah will raise him; whoever is arrogant, Allah will abase him

110 «مَنْ يَتَأَلَّ عَلَى اللَّهِ يُكَذِّبْهُ , وَمَنْ يَغْفِرْ يَغْفِرِ اللَّهُ لَهُ، وَمَنْ يَعْفُ يَعْفُ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، وَمَنْ يَصْبِرْ عَلَى الرَّزِيَّةِ يُعَوِّضْهُ اللَّهُ، وَمَنْ يَكْظِمْ يَأْجُرْهُ اللَّهُ»

Whoever swears by Allah falsely, Allah will expose him; whoever forgives, Allah will forgive him; whoever pardons, Allah will pardon him; whoever is patient with calamity, Allah will compensate him; whoever restrains his anger, Allah will reward him

111 «وَمَنْ قَدَّرَ رَزَقَهُ اللَّهُ، وَمَنْ بَذَّرَ حَرَمَهُ اللَّهُ»

Whoever is content with his provision, Allah will give him more; whoever is wasteful, Allah will deprive him

112 مَنْ نُوقِشَ الْحِسَابَ عُذِّبَ

Whoever is scrutinized in the reckoning will be punished

113 مَنْ بَدَا جَفَا، وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ الصَّيْدَ غَفَلَ، وَمَنِ اقْتَرَبَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ السُّلْطَانِ افْتُتِنَ

Whoever lives in the desert becomes harsh, whoever follows hunting becomes heedless, and whoever approaches the doors of rulers is afflicted

114 مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ مَالِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ

Whoever is killed defending his wealth is a martyr

115 مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ أَهْلِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ

Whoever is killed defending his family is a martyr

Whoever is killed defending his religion is a martyr

117 مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُصِبْ مِنْهُ

Whoever Allah intends good for, He afflicts him

118 مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ

Whoever Allah intends good for, He gives him understanding in religion

119 مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يَجْعَلْ خُلُقَهُ حَسَنًا

Whoever Allah intends good for, He makes his character good

120 مَنِ اشْتَاقَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ سَارَعَ إِلَى الْخَيْرَاتِ، وَمَنْ أَشْفَقَ مِنَ النَّارِ لَهَا عَنِ الشَّهَوَاتِ، وَمَنْ تَرَقَّبَ الْمَوْتَ لَهَا عَنِ اللَّذَّاتِ، وَمَنْ زَهِدَ فِي الدُّنْيَا هَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَصَائِبُ

Whoever longs for Paradise hastens to good deeds, whoever fears the Fire restrains himself from desires, whoever anticipates death restrains himself from pleasures, and whoever renounces the world finds calamities easy

121 مِنْ مَاتَ غَرِيبًا مَاتَ شَهِيدًا

Whoever dies as a stranger dies as a martyr

122 مَنِ اعْتَزَّ بِالْعَبِيدِ أَذَلَّهُ اللَّهُ

Whoever takes pride in slaves, Allah will humiliate him

Whoever cheats us is not one of us

124 مَنْ رَمَانَا بِاللَّيْلِ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا

Whoever attacks us at night is not one of us

Whoever does not trim his mustache is not one of us

126 مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي أَمْرِنَا هَذَا مَا لَيْسَ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ رَدٌّ

Whoever introduces into our matter what is not from it, it is rejected

127 مَنْ تَأَنَّى أَصَابَ أَوْ كَادَ، وَمَنْ عَجِلَ أَخْطَأَ أَوْ كَادَ

Whoever is deliberate attains (success) or nearly does, and whoever is hasty errs or nearly does

128 مَنْ يَزْرَعْ خَيْرًا يَحْصُدْ رَغْبَةً، وَمَنْ يَزْرَعْ شَرًّا يَحْصُدْ نَدَامَةً

Whoever sows good reaps desire, and whoever sows evil reaps regret

129 مَنْ أَيْقَنَ بِالْخَلَفِ جَادَ بِالْعَطِيَّةِ

Whoever is certain of compensation is generous in giving

130 مَنْ أَحَبِّ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَكْرَمَ النَّاسِ فَلْيَتَّقِ اللَّهَ، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَقْوَى النَّاسِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَغْنَى النَّاسِ فَلْيَكُنْ بِمَا فِي يَدَيِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَقَ مِنْهُ بِمَا فِي يَدِهِ

Whoever wishes to be the most honorable of people, let him fear Allah; whoever wishes to be the strongest, let him rely on Allah; whoever wishes to be the richest, let him be more confident in what is with Allah than what is in his own hand

131 مَنْ هَمَّ بِذَنْبٍ ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ كَانَتْ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ

Whoever intends a sin and then leaves it, it is counted as a good deed for him

132 مَنْ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا فَلْيُرَ عَلَيْهِ

Whoever Allah grants goodness, let it be seen on him

133 مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَسْلَمَ فَلْيَلْزَمِ الصَّمْتَ

Whoever is pleased to be safe, let him adhere to silence

134 مَنْ كَثُرَ كَلَامُهُ كَثُرَ سَقَطُهُ، وَمَنْ كَثُرَ سَقَطُهُ كَثُرَتْ ذُنُوبُهُ، وَمَنْ كَثُرَتْ ذُنُوبُهُ كَانَتِ النَّارُ أَوْلَى بِهِ

Whoever speaks much, errs much; whoever errs much, sins much; and whoever sins much, the Fire is more deserving of him

135 مَنْ رُزِقَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَلْيَلْزَمْهُ

Whoever is provided with something should adhere to it

136 مَنْ أُزِلَّتْ إِلَيْهِ نِعْمَةٌ فَلْيَشْكُرْهَا

Whoever receives a blessing should be grateful for it

137 مَنْ لَمْ يَشْكُرِ الْقَلِيلَ لَمْ يَشْكُرِ الْكَثِيرَ

Whoever does not thank for the little does not thank for the much

138 مَنْ عَزَّى مُصَابًا فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِهِ

Whoever consoles a bereaved person will have a reward like his

139 مَنْ فَطَّرَ صَائِمًا كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِهِ

Whoever gives food to a fasting person will have a reward like his

140 مَنْ رَفَقَ بِأُمَّتِي رَفَقَ اللَّهُ بِهِ

Whoever is gentle with my Ummah, Allah will be gentle with him

141 مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي خُرْفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ

Whoever visits a sick person remains in the harvest of Paradise

142 مَنْ دَعَا عَلَى مَنْ ظَلَمَهُ فَقَدِ انْتَصَرَ

Whoever prays against one who wronged him has taken his right

143 مَنْ مَشَى مَعَ ظَالِمٍ فَقَدْ أَجْرَمَ

Whoever walks with an oppressor has committed a crime

144 مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ

Whoever imitates a people is one of them

145 مَنْ طَلَبَ الْعِلْمَ تَكَفَّلَ اللَّهُ بِرِزْقِهِ

Whoever seeks knowledge, Allah guarantees his provision

146 مَنْ لَمْ يَنْفَعْهُ عِلْمُهُ ضَرَّهُ جَهْلُهُ

Whoever is not benefited by his knowledge, his ignorance harms him

147 مَنْ أَبْطَأَ بِهِ عَمَلُهُ لَمْ يُسْرِعْ بِهِ نَسَبُهُ

Whoever is slowed by his deeds, his lineage will not hasten him

148 مَنْ جُعِلَ قَاضِيًا فَقَدْ ذُبِحَ بِغَيْرِ سِكِّينٍ

Whoever is made a judge is slaughtered without a knife

149 مَنْ حَمَلَ سِلْعَتَهُ فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ الْكِبْرِ

Whoever carries his merchandise is free from arrogance

150 مَنْ يُشَادَّ هَذَا الدِّينَ يَغْلِبْهُ

Whoever tries to overburden this religion, it will overcome him

151 مَنْ كَذَّبَ بِالشَّفَاعَةِ لَمْ يَنَلْهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Whoever denies intercession will not attain it on the Day of Judgment
