Musnad of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 14097
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " اعْتَدِلُوا فِي السُّجُودِ ، وَلَا يَبْسُطْ أَحَدُكُمْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ كَمَا يَبْسُطُ الْكَلْبُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Maintain moderation in prostrations, and none of you should spread his hands like a dog.
Hadith 14098
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ، قَالَ : وَيْحَكَ ، أَوْ : وَيْلَكَ ، ارْكَبْهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was driving a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him to ride it. He said, "This is a sacrificial animal." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him two or three times to ride it.
Hadith 14099
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ ، فَلَا يَتْفُلَنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَلْيَتْفُلْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، أو : تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you is praying, he is conversing with his Lord, so in this state none of you should spit to his right side, but rather spit to his left side or under his foot.
Hadith 14100
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَتْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَزْعَةٌ ، فَاسْتَعَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَسًا لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : مَنْدُوبٌ ، فَرَكِبَهُ ، وَقَالَ : مَا رَأَيْنَا مِنْ فَزَعٍ ، وَإِنْ وَجَدْنَاهُ لَبَحْرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, during the night, the people of Madinah were alarmed due to fear of the enemy. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) borrowed one of our horses, whose name was Mandub, and said, "There is nothing to worry about." Regarding the horse, he said, "We found it as swift as the sea."
Hadith 14101
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ضَخْمًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مَعَكَ ، فَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا ، " وَدَعَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهِ ، وَبَسَطُوا لَهُ حَصِيرًا ، وَنَضَحُوهُ ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ الْجَارُودِ : أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى ؟ قَالَ : مَا رَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّاهَا إِلَّا يَوْمَئِذٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a man who was very heavy and could not come repeatedly to pray with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he did not have the strength to come again and again to pray with him, and requested that if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to his house one day and pray at a certain place, then he would perform his prayers there. So, he once arranged an invitation and called the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and sprinkled water on a corner of a mat. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak‘ahs there. A man from the family of Jarud, upon hearing this, asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray the Duha prayer. He replied that he had only seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform that prayer on that day.
Hadith 14102
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " جَاءَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ ، فَخَرَجَ ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ ، فَخَفَّفَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ ، فَأَطَالَ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ ، فَخَفَّفَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ ، فَأَطَالَ ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، صَلَّيْتَ ، فَجَعَلْتَ تُطِيلُ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ ، وَتُخَفِّفُ إِذَا خَرَجْتَ ، قَالَ : " مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ فَعَلْتُ مَا فَعَلْتُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once in the month of Ramadan, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and led a short prayer and then left. After quite some time, he came again and led a short prayer and then went back again and stayed inside for a long time. When morning came, we said, "O Messenger of Allah! We were sitting here tonight, you came and led a short prayer and then went home for a long time?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It was because of you that I did so."
Hadith 14103
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ الْحَبْحَابِ ، وَعَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ ، وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), daughter of Huyayy, and made her freedom itself her dowry.
Hadith 14104
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ ، وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا " .
(Marfu' hadith) Bahz narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik: That the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, "freed Safiyyah, and made her emancipation her dowry."
Hadith 14105
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " زَجَرَ عَنِ الشُّرْبِ قَائِمًا ، قَالَ قَتَادَةُ : فَسَأَلْنَا أَنَسًا عَنِ الْأَكْلِ ، قَالَ : الْأَكْلُ أَشَدُّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade anyone from drinking while standing. I asked about eating, so he said, "That is even more severe than this."
Hadith 14106
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنْتُ غُلَامًا جَوَادًا ، فَصِدْتُ أَرْنَبًا ، فَشَوَيْنَاهَا ، فَأَرْسَلَ مَعِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ بِعَجُزِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was a strong boy, I hunted a rabbit, then we roasted it. Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) sent one of its sides to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by my hand, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted it.
Hadith 14107
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يُقَالُ لِلْكَافِرِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ : أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ لَكَ مِلْءُ الْأَرْضِ ذَهَبًا ، أَكُنْتَ تَفْتَدِي بِهِ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : يُقَالُ لَهُ : قَدْ سُئِلْتَ أَيْسَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, it will be said to a person from among the people of Hell, "Tell me, if you had gold equal to the entire earth, would you give it all as ransom for yourself?" He will say, "Yes!" Allah will say, "I had asked you for something even lighter than this in the world."
Hadith 14108
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ " أَحَبَّ الثِّيَابِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَلْبَسَهَا الْحِبَرَةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the garment the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked the most was a striped Yemeni cloak.
Hadith 14109
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، ثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ " يَدُورُ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ فِي السَّاعَةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ ، وَهُنَّ إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ : هَلْ كَانَ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : كُنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ أَنَّهُ أُعْطِيَ قُوَّةَ ثَلَاثِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes visit all his pure wives in a single night with a single bath, and at that time their number was eleven. I asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did he have that much strength?" He replied, "We used to talk among ourselves that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was given the strength of thirty men."
Hadith 14110
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " وَجَدَ تَمْرَةً ، فَقَالَ : لَوْلَا أَنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ تَكُونَ صَدَقَةً ، لَأَكَلْتُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) found a date lying on the road at one place. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If it were not from charity, I would have eaten it."
Hadith 14111
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ : أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ دَعْوَةً ، وَإِنِّي اخْتَبَأْتُ دَعْوَتِي شَفَاعَةً لِأُمَّتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every prophet had a supplication which he certainly made and it was accepted, whereas I have reserved my supplication for interceding for my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection.
