Hadith 12020
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Muslims heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) calling out at the well of Badr: "O Abu Jahl bin Hisham! O Utbah bin Rabi'ah! O Shaybah bin Khalaf! Did you find true what your Lord had promised you? As for me, I have found true what my Lord promised me." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Are you calling out to people who have died?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You do not hear what I am saying any better than they do, but they cannot respond."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once said to the Ansar: "O group of Ansar! Is it not so that when I came to you, you were astray, and Allah granted you guidance through me? Is it not so that when I came to you, you were divided among yourselves, and Allah united you through me? Is it not so that when I came to you, you were enemies of one another, and Allah created affection in your hearts through me?" They replied, "Indeed, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then said, "Do you not then say that you received me when I came to you in a state of fear, and you gave me security; my people expelled me, and you gave me shelter; I was helpless, and you helped me?" They replied, "No, rather Allah and His Messenger have favored us."

Hadith 12022
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out towards Badr, he consulted the people. In response, Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave a suggestion. Then, when he asked for advice again, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave his opinion. Seeing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. An Ansari said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wants to consult you. Upon this, the Ansari companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! By Allah! We will not say as the Children of Israel said to Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him): 'You and your Lord go and fight, we will sit here.' Rather, if you go as far as Bark al-Ghamad, striking the livers of camels, even then we will be with you."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the night when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed at the house of Hazrat Zainab bint Jahsh, the next morning I invited the Muslims to a wedding feast (walima) on behalf of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fed the Muslims plenty of bread and meat, then as usual he returned and went to the houses of the pure wives and greeted them, and they prayed for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he reached home, he saw that two men were engaged in conversation in a corner of the house. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), seeing them, turned back and left. When those two saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turning back from his house, they quickly stood up and left. Now I do not remember whether I informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of their departure or someone else did. In any case, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned home and hung a curtain between me and himself, and the verse of hijab was revealed.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) shooting arrows. Sometimes, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would raise his head from behind to see the shower of arrows, so Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) would shield his chest to protect the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and would say, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Accordingly, once the Ash'ariyyin came, among whom was Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) as well. When they reached near Madinah Munawwarah, they began to recite these poetic verses: "Tomorrow we will meet our friends, that is, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was with one of his wives, most likely Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Another wife sent a bowl containing some food to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) through her servant. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) struck the servant's hand, causing the bowl to fall and break into two pieces. Upon seeing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Your mother has ruined it." Then he took both pieces of the bowl, joined them together, gathered the food in it, and said, "Eat from it," and kept the servant there until they finished. After that, he gave the servant another bowl and left the broken bowl in that house.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Abu Talha's (may Allah be pleased with him) son was ill. Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) went out to the mosque, and in his absence, his son passed away. His wife, Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her), covered him with a cloth and told the household not to inform Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) of his son's death. When Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) returned, some of his friends from the mosque came with him. Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) inquired about the child, and they replied that he was better than before. Then dinner was brought before them, and everyone ate. After the guests left, she busied herself with the tasks women usually do. When the last part of the night arrived, she said to Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abu Talha! Consider this: some people borrowed something for a while and benefited from it, but when it was demanded back, they showed displeasure." Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "They are not being fair." Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "Then your son was also a trust from Allah, which Allah has taken back." Upon this, he said «انا لله وانا اليه راجعون» and thanked Allah.

In the morning, they went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), seeing them, said, "May Allah bless you both in this night." Thus, she became pregnant. When the child was born, it was nighttime. She did not consider it appropriate to give the child tahneek at that time and wished that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself would do it. So in the morning, I took the child along with some Ajwa dates to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was applying tar to his camels. I said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Last night, a child was born to Umm Sulaim. She did not consider it appropriate to give him tahneek herself and wished that you would do it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do you have anything?" I said, "I have Ajwa dates." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a date, chewed it, softened it, collected his saliva, and put it in the child's mouth, which he began to suck. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Dates are beloved to the Ansar." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Name him." He said, "His name is Abdullah."

I came to him and he was wearing his cloak, and he was in the garden branding the riding animal that he had received. He said: "Wait a little, I will finish for you." Ibn Abi Adi said at the beginning of the hadith: Abu Talha went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "Did you spend the night as newlyweds?" He said: "May Allah bless you both in your marriage." And Abu Talha said to Umm Sulaym: How is that boy? She said: He is calmer than he was.

Then he mentioned the hadith, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "So you spent the night as bride and groom while he was beside you?!" He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "May Allah bless you both in your night."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the call to prayer was given, all those whose houses were near the mosque came, but those who lived far could not come. A stone bowl was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in which even his palm could hardly open. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) joined his fingers together and so much water flowed from them that everyone performed ablution. Someone asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "How many people were you at that time?" He replied, "Eighty or a little more."

When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of this, he did not like the idea of Madinah becoming empty. Therefore, he said, "O Banu Salamah! Do you not wish to attain the reward for the steps you take towards the mosque?" They replied, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" So they remained settled there.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit a sick Muslim. He had become like a chick. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Did you used to supplicate for anything?" He said, "Yes! I used to supplicate: O Allah! Whatever punishment You have destined for me in the Hereafter, give it to me in this world." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Subhan Allah! You do not have the strength or ability for that. Why did you not supplicate: O Allah! Grant me goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of Hellfire?" The narrator says that he then supplicated to Allah with this prayer, and Allah granted him healing.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that sometimes a person would come to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and accept Islam, thinking that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would grant him worldly wealth and riches, but by evening Islam would become more beloved and honorable to him than the world and all that is in it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever a person, upon accepting Islam, asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for anything, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would grant it to him. In this context, a man came and asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for something. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be given many goats from the charity goats, "enough to fill the space between two mountains." That man went back to his people and said, "O people! Accept Islam, because Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gives so much that there is no fear of poverty or destitution."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) filled a pouch with fresh dates and sent it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by my hand. I did not find the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at home, because he had gone nearby to one of his freed slaves who had invited the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When I reached there, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was eating food. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called me to eat as well. The host had prepared a dish of meat and gourd (thareed). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked gourd very much, so I kept separating it and placing it before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished eating and returned home, I placed that pouch before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept eating from it and distributing it until the pouch was empty.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the house of Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her). She presented dates and ghee before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was fasting that day, so he said, "Put the dates in its container and the ghee in its bucket." Then, standing in a corner of the house, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered two units of prayer, and we also prayed with him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) and her family. Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I have a special thing as well." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What is that?" She replied, "Your servant Anas." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not leave out any good of this world or the Hereafter except that he asked it for me, and he said, "O Allah! Grant him wealth and children, and bless them for him." Consequently, after that, there was no person among the Ansar wealthier than me, although previously he did not own any gold or silver except his ring. And he himself says that my eldest daughter Amina told me that until the coming of Hajjaj bin Yusuf, more than one hundred and twenty people from my descendants had died and been buried.

Humaid says that a person asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to apply dye. He replied that there were only seventeen or twenty white hairs in the front part of the blessed beard of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and old age did not bring any defect upon him. Someone asked, "Is old age a defect?" He replied, "Each one of you considers it undesirable." However, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) used to apply a dye of henna and katam, while Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used only henna as dye.

I will ask you three things which no one knows except a Prophet." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Ask." He said, "What is the very first sign of the Day of Judgment? What will be the very first food of the people of Paradise? And how does a child resemble its parents?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Just now, Jibreel Amin (peace be upon him) has informed me of their answers." Abdullah said, "He is the enemy of the Jews among the angels." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The very first sign of the Day of Judgment will be a fire that will emerge from the East and gather all the people in the West. The very first food of the people of Paradise will be the liver of fish. As for the resemblance of a child to its parents, if the man's 'fluid' prevails over the woman's fluid, the child is drawn towards him, and if the woman's fluid prevails over the man's, the child is drawn towards her." Upon hearing this, Abdullah said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and you are the Messenger of Allah." Then he said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The Jews are a people who fabricate slanders. If they find out about my acceptance of Islam, they will accuse me of all sorts of things in your presence. Therefore, send for them and ask them about me: 'What kind of man is Ibn Salam among you?'" Accordingly, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for them and asked, "What kind of man is Abdullah bin Salam among you?" They replied, "He is the best among us and the son of the best, our scholar and the son of a scholar, the greatest jurist among us and the son of the greatest jurist." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Tell me, if he accepts Islam, will you also accept Islam?" They said, "May Allah protect him from that." At this, Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came out and recited the testimony of faith in front of them. Upon hearing this, they said, "He is the worst among us and the son of the worst, the most ignorant among us and the son of the most ignorant." Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "This is what I was afraid of."
