Musnad of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 11941
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أخبرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " إِنْ كَانَتْ الْأَمَةُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، لَتَأْخُذُ بِيَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَتَنْطَلِقُ بِهِ فِي حَاجَتِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that even an ordinary slave girl of Madinah would take hold of the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and lead him away for her tasks, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go with her.
Hadith 11942
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أخبرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ ، وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا ، فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever deliberately attributes a false statement to me, he should make his abode in Hell.
Hadith 11943
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِزَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ جَحْشٍ " أَوْلَمَ " ، قَالَ : فَأَطْعَمَنَا خُبْزًا ، وَلَحْمًا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) held a wedding feast after marrying Hazrat Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), and he fed us bread and meat.
Hadith 11944
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يُرْفَعَ الْعِلْمُ ، وَيَظْهَرَ الْجَهْلُ ، وَيَقِلَّ الرِّجَالُ ، وَتكْثُرَ النِّسَاءُ ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ قَيِّمَ خَمْسِينَ امْرَأَةً رَجُلٌ وَاحِدٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu’ form that the Hour will not be established until knowledge is taken away, ignorance will prevail, the number of men will decrease and the number of women will increase, to the extent that one man will be responsible for fifty women.
Hadith 11945
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى فِي بُرْدَةِ حِبَرَةٍ " ، قَالَ : أَحْسَبُهُ عَقَدَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer in a Yemeni cloak, and most likely he had tied knots in both of its ends.
Hadith 11946
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يَطُوفُ عَلَى جَمِيعِ نِسَائِهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِغُسْلٍ وَاحِدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes visit all his noble wives in a single night with one bath.
Hadith 11947
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلَاءَ ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter the toilet, he would recite this supplication: "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the male and female evil jinn."
Hadith 11948
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخبرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ ، فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the People of the Book greet you with salam, you should only reply with "Wa Alaikum."
Hadith 11949
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، قَالَ : عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، وَيُونُسُ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " انْصُرْ أَخَاكَ ظَالِمًا أَوْ مَظْلُومًا " ، قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَذَا أَنْصُرُهُ مَظْلُومًا ، فَكَيْفَ أَنْصُرُهُ إِذَا كَانَ ظَالِمًا ؟ ، قَالَ : " تَحْجُزُهُ ، تَمْنَعُهُ ، فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ نَصْرُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or the oppressed. Someone asked, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! It is understandable to help the oppressed, but how should we help the oppressor? He replied: Stop him from committing oppression; that is his help.
Hadith 11950
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بن صُهَيب ، وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَسَحَّرُوا فَإِنَّ فِي السُّحُورِ بَرَكَةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Partake in suhoor (pre-dawn meal), for there is blessing in suhoor."
Hadith 11951
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : رَأَيْتُ " خَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have seen the silver ring of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 11952
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَفِيَّةَ ، أَقَامَ عِنْدَهَا ثَلَاثًا ، وَكَانَتْ ثَيِّبًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), he stayed with her for three nights. She had previously been married.
Hadith 11953
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ ، قَالَ : " شَهِدْتُ وَلِيمَتَيْنِ مِنْ نِسَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَمَا أَطْعَمَنَا فِيهمَا خُبْزًا ، وَلَا لَحْمًا " ، قَالَ : فَمَهْ ؟ ، قَالَ : " الْحَيْسُ ، يَعْنِي التَّمْرَ ، وَالْأَقِطَ بِالسَّمْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I attended the wedding feasts of two of the pure wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not serve us bread nor meat. The narrator asked, "Then what was served?" He replied, "A sweet dish made of dates and cheese cooked in ghee."
Hadith 11954
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَوَّامُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَزْهَرُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا تَسْتَضِيئُوا بِنَارِ الْمُشْرِكِ ، وَلَا تَنْقُشُوا خَوَاتِيمَكُمْ عَرَبِيًّا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not take light from the fire of the polytheists, and do not have "Arabic" engraved on your rings.
Hadith 11955
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " دَخَلْتُ الْجَنَّةَ ، فَسَمِعْتُ خَشْخَشَةً بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ ، فَإِذَا هِيَ الْغُمَيْصَاءُ بِنْتُ مِلْحَانَ أُمُّ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I entered Paradise and heard the sound of footsteps ahead of me. I looked and it was Ghumaisa bint Milhan (who was the mother of Hazrat Anas, may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 11956
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ، وَشُجَّ فِي جَبْهَتِهِ حَتَّى سَالَ الدَّمُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " كَيْفَ يُفْلِحُ قَوْمٌ فَعَلُوا هَذَا بِنَبِيِّهِمْ ، وَهُوَ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ ؟ ! " فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ : لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ سورة آل عمران آية 128 .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, four of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) front teeth were broken and he was also wounded on his forehead, so much so that the blood began to flow on his blessed face. Upon this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “How can a people prosper who treat their Prophet in this manner while he is calling them towards their Lord?” Then this verse was revealed: “You have no authority in the matter, whether Allah turns to them or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers.”
Hadith 11957
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ ، وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), daughter of Huyayy, and made her freedom itself her dowry.
Hadith 11958
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، وَعَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ ، وَحُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ , أَنَّهُمْ سَمِعُوهُ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُلَبِّي بِالْحَجِّ ، وَالْعُمْرَةِ جَمِيعًا ، يَقُولُ : " لَبَّيْكَ عُمْرَةً وَحَجًّا ، لَبَّيْكَ عُمْرَةً وَحَجًّا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting the Talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah together, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "Labbaik Umrah wa Hajjan."
Hadith 11959
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، قَالَ : وَحدثنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، وَأَظُنُّنِي قَدْ سَمِعْتُ مِنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، فَقَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ! ، قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، مَرَّتَيْنِ ، أَوْ ثَلَاثًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was driving a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him to ride it. He replied, "This is a sacrificial animal." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him two or three times to ride it.
Hadith 11960
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُضَحِّي بِكَبْشَيْنِ أَقْرَنَيْنِ أَمْلَحَيْنِ ، وَكَانَ يُسَمِّي وَيُكَبِّرُ ، وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَذْبَحُهُمَا بِيَدِهِ وَاضِعًا عَلَى صِفَاحِهِمَا قَدَمَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer two horned, black and white rams as sacrifice, and he would mention the name of Allah and say Takbeer. I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would slaughter them with his own hand and would place his foot on their side.
Hadith 11961
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُلَبِّي بِالْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ جَمِيعًا ، فَحَدَّثْتُ بِِذَاكَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ , فَقَالَ : لَبَّى بِالْحَجِّ وَحْدَهُ , فَلَقِيتُ أَنَسًا ، فَحَدَّثْتُهُ بِقَوْلِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , فَقَالَ : مَا تَعُدُّونَا إِلَّا صِبْيَانًا ! سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَبَّيْكَ عُمْرَةً وَحَجًّا " .
Bakr bin Mazni (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I heard Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate this hadith: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recite the talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah together. So I narrated this hadith to Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the talbiyah only for Hajj. When I met Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), I told him what Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had said. He replied, "Do you people consider us children? I myself heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say, 'Labbayk Umrah wa Hajjan.'"
Hadith 11962
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبِي : حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، حَسِبْتُهُ ، قَالَ : " عَطَسَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلَانِ ، فَشَمَّتَ أَحَدَهُمَا ، أَوْ قَالَ : سَمَّتَ ، وَتَرَكَ الْآخَرَ , فَقِيلَ : رَجُلَانِ عَطَسَ أَحَدُهُمَا فَشَمَّتَّهُ ، وَلَمْ تُشَمِّتْ الْآخَرَ ! ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ هَذَا حَمِدَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once in the gathering of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), two men sneezed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied to one of them (by saying "Yarhamukallah") and left the other. Someone asked, "Two men sneezed, you replied to one of them, why did you not reply to the other?" He said, "He had said 'Alhamdulillah'."
Hadith 11963
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قال : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَلِيَهُ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ ، وَالْأَنْصَارُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked that the Muhajirun and Ansar stand together in prayer.
Hadith 11964
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا سَقَطَتْ لُقْمَةُ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيَأْخُذْهَا ، وَلْيَمْسَحْ مَا بِهَا مِنَ الْأَذَى ، وَلَا يَدَعْهَا لِلشَّيْطَانِ " .
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a morsel falls from the hand of any one of you, he should remove whatever has stuck to it and not leave it for Satan.
Hadith 11965
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ , عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمْ يَكُنْ فِي رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلِحْيَتِهِ عِشْرُونَ شَعَرَةً بَيْضَاءَ ، وَخَضَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ ، وَخَضَبَ عُمَرُ بِالْحِنَّاء " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that there were not even twenty white hairs in the blessed beard of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Hazrat Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) used to dye his hair with henna and katam, while Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used only henna for dyeing.
Hadith 11966
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ , عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " حَجَمَ أَبُو طَيْبَةَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَعْطَاهُ صَاعًا مِنْ طَعَامٍ ، وَكَلَّمَ أَهْلَهُ ، فَخَفَّفُوا عَنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu Taybah performed cupping for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him one sa’ of wheat and spoke to his master, so they reduced (the fee) for him.
Hadith 11967
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ , قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " مِنْ أَتَمِّ النَّاسِ صَلَاةً وَأَوْجَزِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most complete and concise in prayer among the people.
Hadith 11968
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْأَخْضَرَ بْنَ عَجْلَانَ , عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " بَاعَ قَدَحًا وَحِلْسًا فِي مَنْ يَزِيدُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sold a bowl and a mat by auction.
Hadith 11969
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ الْأَخْضَرِ , قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ عَبد الله بن عثمان يعني صَاحِبَ شُعْبَةَ , عَنْ الْأَخْضَرِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , نَحْوَهُ .
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from al-Akhdar, he said: And Waki' narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Uthman, meaning the companion of Shu'bah, from al-Akhdar ibn 'Ajlan, from Abu Bakr al-Hanafi, from Anas ibn Malik, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, something similar.
Hadith 11970
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ، حَدَّثَنَا غَالِبٌ الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ ، فَإِذَا لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَحَدُنَا أَنْ يُمَكِّنَ وَجْهَهُ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ , بَسَطَ ثَوْبَهُ فََسَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that we used to pray with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) even in intense heat. If any of us did not have the strength to place his face on the ground, he would spread his cloth and prostrate on it.
Hadith 11971
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطُّفَاوِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ , عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا وُضِعَ الْعَشَاءُ ، وَأُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the night meal is brought before you and the prayer is established, then eat the food first.
Hadith 11971M
(حديث موقوف) (حديث مرفوع) وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا نَعَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ ، فَلْيَنْصَرِفْ فَلْيَنَمْ " .
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you becomes drowsy while praying, he should go back and sleep.
Hadith 11972
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، وَيَزِيدَ بْنِ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً ، أَوْ نَامَ عَنْهَا , فَإِنَّمَا كَفَّارَتُهَا أَنْ يُصَلِّيَهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا " ، قَالَ يَزِيدُ : فَكَفَّارَتُهَا أَنْ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever forgets to perform a prayer or sleeps through it, its expiation is only that he should offer it when he remembers.
Hadith 11973
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ , حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى لَيَرْضَى عَنِ الْعَبْدِ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الْأُكْلَةَ ، فَيَحْمَدَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَيْهَا ، أَوْ يَشْرَبَ الشَّرْبَةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah Almighty becomes pleased with His servant even on such a small thing that he eats a morsel of food or drinks a sip of water and then thanks Allah for it.
Hadith 11974
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقُ , حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " خَدَمْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعَ سِنِينَ ، فَمَا أَعْلَمُهُ قَالَ لِي قَطُّ : هَلَّا فَعَلْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، وَلَا عَابَ عَلَيَّ شَيْئًا قَطُّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he served the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for nine years. He does not remember that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ever said to him, "Why did you not do such-and-such work?" Nor did he (peace and blessings be upon him) ever find any fault in him.
Hadith 11975
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ , قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قُلْتُ : أَخْبِرْنِي بِشَيْءٍ عَقِلْتَهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيْنَ " صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ ؟ ، قَالَ : بِمِنًى " , قلت : وَأَيْنَ " صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ يَوْمَ النَّفْرِ ؟ ، قَالَ : بِالْأَبْطَحِ " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ قَالَ : افْعَلْ كَمَا يَفْعَلُ أُمَرَاؤُكَ " .
Abdul Aziz bin Rafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), “If you know regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), please tell me where he performed the Zuhr prayer on the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah?” He replied, “At Mina.” I asked, “Where did he perform the Asr prayer on the day of departure?” He replied, “At the place of Abtah.” Then he said, “You should do as your leaders do.”
Hadith 11976
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ , وَغَسَّانُ بْنُ مُضَرَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَبِي مَسْلَمَةَ , قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : " أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ " .
Saeed bin Yazid, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I asked Hazrat Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, whether the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray in his shoes? He replied, "Yes!"
Hadith 11977
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ أَبُو خِدَاشٍ الْيُحْمَدِيُّ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا أَعْرِفُ شَيْئًا الْيَوْمَ مِمَّا كُنَّا عَلَيْهِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا لَهُ : فَأَيْنَ الصَّلَاةُ ؟ ، قَالَ : أَوَلَمْ تَصْنَعُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ مَا قَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ ؟ " .
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that whatever we used to do during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), today I do not see any of that. The people asked, "What about the prayer? (We do offer prayers.)" He replied, "You yourselves know what you do in prayer."
Hadith 11978
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ , قَالَ : نَهَى نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَنْ يَتَزَعْفَرَ الرَّجُلُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade men from applying the fragrance of saffron.
Hadith 11979
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمْ الْمَوْتَ لِضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ ، فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا بُدَّ مُتَمَنِّيَ الْمَوْتَ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : اللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتِ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي , وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should wish for death because of any hardship that befalls him. If wishing for death becomes necessary, then he should say: O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and grant me death when death is better for me.
