Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Once, in the realm of souls, there was a debate between Hazrat Adam and Hazrat Musa (peace be upon them). Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) said: O Adam! Allah created you with His own hand, made His angels prostrate to you, and settled you in Paradise, then you did this deed? O Musa, Allah chose you to speak with Him and revealed the Torah to you. Tell me, was I first or the command of Allah? He said: The command of Allah. In this way, Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) prevailed over Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him).

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once someone asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the ruling regarding the children of polytheists who die in infancy. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied that Allah knows best what deeds they would have done had they grown up.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When a slave obeys both Allah and his master, he receives double reward for every deed.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Some people will leave Madinah with reluctance, although if they knew, Madinah would have been better for them.

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: A woman should not be married together with her paternal aunt or her maternal aunt.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you wakes up from his sleep, he should not put his hand into a vessel until he has washed it, because he does not know where his hand spent the night.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The worst person is the one who is two-faced, who comes to some people with one face and to others with another face.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is fasting, he should not indulge in foul or ignorant speech. If someone tries to fight or abuse him, he should simply say, "I am fasting."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk. Allah Almighty says: My servant leaves his food, drink, and desires for My sake, so fasting is for Me and I Myself will give its reward, and apart from fasting, the reward of every good deed is multiplied from ten to seven hundred times.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The example of a Mujahid who strives in the path of Allah is like that of a person who spends the night in worship and the day in fasting. He continues to receive the reward of fasting and standing in prayer as long as he does not return home with the spoils of war.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Guard yourselves against suspicion, for suspicion is the most false of speech. Do not spy on one another, do not seek out each other's faults, do not compete with one another, do not deceive one another, do not sever ties of kinship, do not harbor enmity, and O servants of Allah! Be brothers to one another."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Delaying repayment by a wealthy person is injustice, and when any of you is referred to a wealthy person, he should pursue him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you puts on shoes, he should begin with the right foot, and when he takes them off, he should take off the left foot first, so that the right foot is the first to be put on and the last to be taken off.

It is narrated with the previous chain that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not make deals with traders outside (the market); no person should sell over the sale of another; do not deceive one another; no townsman should sell the merchandise of a villager; and do not tie the teats of a she-goat or she-camel in order to sell them at a higher price. Whoever (falls victim to this deception and) buys such a she-camel or she-goat, he has the choice of two options, whichever is better for him: either he keeps the animal with him (and settles the matter), or he returns the animal to its owner and gives along with it a sa’ (measure) of dates.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you hear someone saying that the people have perished, then know that he is the most ruined among them.

It is narrated with the same chain that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every Monday and Thursday, the gates of Paradise are opened (according to another narration, deeds are presented), and Allah Almighty forgives every servant who does not associate anyone with Him, except for two men who have a dispute between them. Allah Almighty says: Leave both of them until they reconcile with each other.

It is narrated with the same chain that Hazrat Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), if I see a strange man with my wife in an inappropriate situation, should I leave him and first go to find four witnesses?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes!" (Later, this ruling was changed with the law of li'an, the details of which are mentioned in the first section of Surah An-Nur.)

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The area between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit will be set up over my cistern on the Day of Resurrection.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The reward for offering prayer in my mosque is one thousand times greater than in all other mosques, except for Masjid al-Haram.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remain steadfast on the right path and stay close to the straight path, and remember! None of you will be saved by his deeds. A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), not even you?" He replied, "Not even me, unless my Lord covers me with His forgiveness and mercy."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Command me to do one thing (not many things so that I may understand it well)." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not get angry." He asked the same question several times, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him the same answer every time: "Do not get angry."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Keep the measurement of the path seven cubits.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a funeral passed by in front of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). People began to mention the good qualities and praise of the deceased. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It has become obligatory." In the meantime, another funeral passed by and people mentioned the bad qualities and condemnation of the deceased. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It has become obligatory." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is meant by 'it has become obligatory'?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You are Allah's witnesses on the earth."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah decided to create the creation, He wrote in a book which is with Him above the Throne: "My mercy prevails over My wrath."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The reward for offering prayer in my mosque is one thousand times greater than in all other mosques except Masjid al-Haram.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Does any one of you like that he should return to his family with three pregnant she-camels?" The companions said, "Yes (everyone would like that)." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites three verses of the Noble Qur'an in prayer, for him those three verses are better than three pregnant she-camels."

And the two prayers that are heaviest upon the hypocrites are the ‘Isha prayer and the Fajr prayer. If they knew the reward for these prayers, they would certainly attend them, even if they had to crawl on their knees.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says, "I have prepared for My righteous servants such things which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived. These things are treasures, and Allah has not informed you about them."

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

Abu Salamah says that once he saw Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) recite Surah Inshiqaq, and when he reached the verse of prostration, he performed the prostration of recitation. I said to him, "I have not seen you perform prostration in this Surah before?" He replied, "If I had not seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform prostration in it, I would not have performed it either."

Abu Rafi’ says that once I saw Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting Surah Inshiqaq. I asked him, and he replied that my beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed sajdah (prostration) at this verse, so I will always perform sajdah upon reaching this verse until I meet the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The child belongs to the owner of the bed, and for the adulterer there are stones."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard Abul Qasim, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: The best among you are those who have good character and are jurists (possess understanding of religion).

It is narrated with the previous chain that I heard Abul Qasim (peace be upon him) say: Whoever drags his lower garment on the ground out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him with mercy.

It is narrated with the same chain that perform ablution thoroughly, for I heard Abul Qasim (peace be upon him) say: Woe to the heels from the fire of Hell.

It is narrated with the same chain that I heard Abul Qasim (peace be upon him) say that Allah Almighty has said: Every deed is an expiation except for fasting; fasting is especially for Me, and I Myself will reward it.

It is narrated with the previous chain that I heard Abul Qasim (peace be upon him) say: The breath of the fasting person’s mouth is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once some dates of charity were brought to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order regarding them, and seated either Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) or Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) on his shoulder. His saliva began to flow onto the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked up and saw a date in his mouth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand in and took the date out of his mouth and said: "Do you not know that the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) does not eat charity?"
