Musnad of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 7359
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْعَجْلَانِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا وَقَعَ الذُّبَابُ فِي إِنَاءِ أَحَدِكُمْ ، فَلْيَغْمِسْهُ فَإِنَّ فِي أَحَدِ جَنَاحَيْهِ شِفَاءً ، وَالْآخَرِ دَاءً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a fly falls into the vessel of any one of you, then remember that in one wing of the fly there is healing and in the other there is disease. Therefore, he should fully immerse the fly in it (then using it is up to his discretion).
Hadith 7360
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، وَقُرِئَ عَلَى سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ كَانَ يَقُولُ فَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ : هُوَ هَكَذَا ، يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا وَضَعَ جَنْبَهُ يَقُولُ : " بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي ، فَإِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا ، وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا ، فَاحْفَظْهَا بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would lie down on his bed, he would say: "O Lord, by Your blessed name I have laid my side on the ground. If You withhold my soul, then have mercy on it, and if You send it back, then protect it in the same manner as You protect Your righteous servants."
Hadith 7361
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ الَّذِي سَمِعْنَاهُ مِنْهُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، لَا أَدْرِي عَمَّنْ سُئِلَ سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ أُثَال ؟ ! فَقَالَ : كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ أَسَرُوهُ أَخَذُوهُ ، فَكَانَ إِذَا مَرَّ بِهِ ، قَالَ : " مَا عِنْدَكَ يَا ثُمَامَةُ ؟ " قَالَ : إِنْ تَقْتُلْ ، تَقْتُلْ ذَا دَمٍ ، وإِِنْ تُنْعِمْ ، تُنْعِمْ عَلَى شَاكِرٍ ، وَإِنْ تُرِدْ مَالًا ، تُعْطَ مَالًا ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ إِذَا مَرَّ بِهِ ، قَالَ : " مَا عِنْدَكَ يَا ثُمَامَةُ ؟ " قَالَ : إِنْ تُنْعِمْ ، تُنْعِمْ عَلَى شَاكِرٍ ، وَإِنْ تَقْتُلْ ، تَقْتُلْ ذَا دَمٍ ، وَإِنْ تُرِدْ الْمَالَ ، تُعْطَ الْمَالَ ، قَالَ : فَبَدَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَطْلَقَهُ ، وَقَذَفَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي قَلْبِهِ ، قَالَ : فَذَهَبُوا بِهِ إِلَى بِئْرِ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَغَسَلُوهُ ، فَأَسْلَمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، أَمْسَيْتَ وَإِنَّ وَجْهَكَ كَانَ أَبْغَضَ الْوُجُوهِ إِلَيَّ ، وَدِينَكَ أَبْغَضَ الدِّينِ إِلَيَّ ، وَبَلَدَكَ أَبْغَضَ الْبُلْدَانِ إِلَيَّ ، فَأَصْبَحْتَ وَإِنَّ دِينَكَ أَحَبُّ الْأَدْيَانِ إِلَيَّ ، وَوَجْهَكَ أَحَبُّ الْوُجُوهِ إِلَيَّ ، لَا يَأْتِي قُرَشِيًّا حَبَّةٌ مِنَ الْيَمَامَةِ ، حَتَّى قَالَ عُمَرُ : لَقَدْ كَانَ وَاللَّهِ فِي عَيْنِي أَصْغَرَ مِنَ الْخِنْزِيرِ ، وَإِنَّهُ فِي عَيْنِي أَعْظَمُ مِنَ الْجَبَلِ ، خَلَّى عَنْهُ ، فَأَتَى الْيَمَامَةَ حَبَسَ عَنْهُمْ ، فَضَجُّوا وَضَجِرُوا ، فَكَتَبُوا تَأْمُرُ بِالصِّلَةِ ؟ قَالَ : وَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ . قال عبد الله بن أحمد : وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة أَنَّ ثُمَامَةَ بْنَ أُثَالٍ ، قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Muslims captured a man named Thumamah bin Uthal (who was a highly respected and wealthy person in his tribe) and imprisoned him. When he passed by the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "What is Thumamah's intention?" He replied, "If you kill me, you will kill a person whose blood is precious. If you show kindness to me, you will show kindness to a grateful person. And if you desire wealth, you will get it." Whenever the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by him, he would ask him the same question as above, and he would give the same answer as before.
One day, Allah put it in the heart of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he decided that Thumamah should be released. So the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set him free. At his request, the people took him to a well belonging to the Ansar, where he was given a bath, and then he accepted Islam. He said, "O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), until yesterday evening, there was no face more disliked in my eyes than your face, no religion more disliked than your religion, and no city more disliked than your city. But now, your religion is the most beloved of all religions to me, your blessed face is the most beloved of all faces, and your city is the most beloved of all cities to me. From today onwards, not a single grain of food from Yamamah will reach the Quraysh."
At this point, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "By Allah, he was more despicable in my eyes than a pig, and now he is greater than a mountain." And his path was left open. So Thumamah went to Yamamah and stopped the supply of grain to the Quraysh, which caused the Quraysh to cry out in distress and they became very worried. Forced by circumstances, they wrote a petition to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), requesting him to order Thumamah to show kindness and leniency. So the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote a letter to Thumamah of this nature.
One day, Allah put it in the heart of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he decided that Thumamah should be released. Hadith 7362
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رِوَايَةً : " خَيْرُ صُفُوفِ الرِّجَالِ أَوَّلُهَا ، وَشَرُّهَا آخِرُهَا ، وَخَيْرُ صُفُوفِ النِّسَاءِ آخِرُهَا ، وَشَرُّ صُفُوفِ النِّسَاءِ أَوَّلُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the best row among the men is the first row and the last row is closest to evil, and among the women, the last row is the best and the first row is closest to evil.
Hadith 7363
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ الدَّوْسِيِّ ، قَالَ : فَأَهْدَى لَهُ نَاقَةً ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ ، قَالَ : " لَا أَتَّهِبُ إِلَّا مِنْ قُرَشِيٍّ ، أَوْ دَوْسِيٍّ ، أَوْ ثَقَفِيٍّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin presented a she-camel as a gift to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the future, I will accept a gift only from a Quraishi, or a Dosi, or a Thaqafi."
Hadith 7364
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لِلْمَمْلُوكِ طَعَامُهُ ، وَكِسْوَتُهُ ، وَلَا تُكَلِّفُونَهُ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا لَا يُطِيقُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The right of the slave is that he should be provided with food and clothing, and do not burden them with any work beyond their capacity.
Hadith 7365
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو ، أَنَّ بُكَيْرًا حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ الْعَجْلَانِ مَوْلَى فَاطِمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لِلْمَمْلُوكِ طَعَامُهُ ، وَكِسْوَتُهُ ، وَلَا يُكَلَّفُ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا لَا يُطِيقُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The right of the slave is that he should be provided with food and clothing, and do not burden them with any work beyond their capacity.
Hadith 7366
(حديث مرفوع) قُرِئَ عَلَى سُفْيَانَ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَجْلَان ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا سَالَمْنَاهُنَّ مُنْذُ حَارَبْنَاهُنَّ " يَعْنِي الْحَيَّاتِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding snakes: Since we began fighting them, we have never made peace with them.
Hadith 7367
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ ، فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ سُؤَالِهِمْ ، وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ ، مَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْهُ ، فَانْتَهُوا ، وَمَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ ، فَأْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When I leave you regarding a matter, then you also leave me regarding it, because the nations before you were destroyed only due to their excessive questioning and differing with their prophets. Whatever I forbid you from, abstain from it, and whatever I command you, do it to the best of your ability.
Hadith 7368
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّمَا أَنَا لَكُمْ مِثْلُ الْوَالِدِ ، إِذَا أَتَيْتُمْ الْغَائِطَ ، فَلَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ ، وَلَا تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا " . وَنَهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ ، وَالرِّمَّةِ ، وَلَا يَسْتَطِيبُ الرَّجُلُ بِيَمِينِهِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am like a father to you (therefore it is my responsibility to teach you). When you go to the toilet, do not sit facing the Qiblah or with your back towards it. Also, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade cleaning oneself with dung and decayed bones, and said: No person should clean himself with his right hand.
Hadith 7369
(حديث مرفوع) قُرِئَ عَلَى سُفْيَانَ : عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رَحِمَ اللَّهُ رَجُلًا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ " . قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : لَا يُرَشُّ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، تَمْسَحُهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah have mercy on the person who gets up during the nights and performs prayer.
Hadith 7370
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُمِرْتُ بِقَرْيَةٍ تَأْكُلُ الْقُرَى ، يَقُولُونَ : يَثْرِبُ ، وَهِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ ، تَنْفِي النَّاسَ كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been commanded to go to a town which will consume all other towns. People call it Yathrib, whereas its correct name is Madinah, and Madinah removes people's sins just as a blacksmith's furnace removes the impurities of iron.
Hadith 7371
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " سَجَدَ فِي إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ و َاقْرَأْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed sajdah of recitation at the verse of sajdah in Surah Inshiqaq and Surah Alaq.
Hadith 7372
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ وَجَدَ مَالَهُ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ مُفْلِسٍ ، فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a man is declared bankrupt and someone finds his own property with him in its original form, then compared to others, he has a greater right to that property.
Hadith 7373
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : أُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِأَشْيَاءَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قِصَارٍ : " لَا يَشْرَبْ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ فَمِ السِّقَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I narrate brief ahadith before you from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), for example, that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking water by putting the mouth directly on the mouth of a water-skin.
Hadith 7374
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " سَجَدَهُمَا بَعْدَ التَّسْلِيمِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness after saying the salam.
Hadith 7375
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ : اخْتَصَمَ الرِّجَالُ وَالنِّسَاءُ ، أَيُّهُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَكْثَرُ ؟ فَقال أبو هريرة : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِثْلُ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ عَلَى أَضْوَإِ كَوْكَبٍ دُرِّيٍّ ، لِكُلِّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ زَوْجَتَانِ اثْنَتَانِ ، يُرَى مُخُّ سَاقِهِمَا مِنْ وَرَاءِ اللَّحْمِ ، وَمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَعْزَبُ " .
Muhammad says that once people argued among themselves about whether there would be more men or women in Paradise. So it is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The first group to enter Paradise will have faces shining like the moon of the fourteenth night. Those who enter after them will be like the brightest star in the sky. Each of them will have two wives, whose shin bones’ marrow will be visible from outside the flesh, and there will be no unmarried person in Paradise.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، سَمِعَ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : صَلَّى رسول الله صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِحْدَى صَلَاتَيْ الْعَشِيِّ ، إِمَّا الظُّهْرُ ، أو العصر وَأَكْثَرُ ظَنِّي أَنَّهَا الْعَصْرُ ، فَسَلَّمَ فِي اثْنَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ أَتَى جِذْعًا كَانَ يُصَلِّي إِلَيْهِ ، فَجَلَسَ إِلَيْهِ مُغْضَبًا ، وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ : ثُمَّ أَتَى جِذْعًا فِي الْقِبْلَةِ كَانَ يُسْنِدُ إِلَيْهِ ظَهْرَهُ ، فَأَسْنَدَ إِلَيْهِ ظَهْرَهُ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ خَرَجَ سَرَعَانُ النَّاسِ ، فَقَالُوا : قُصِرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، وَفِي الْقَوْمِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرُ ، فهاباهُ أَن يُكلِّماه ، فقِال ذو اليَدينِ : أي رسولَ الله ، قُصِرَتِ الصَّلاةُ أَم نَسِيتَ ؟ قَالَ : " مَا قُصِرَتْ ، وَمَا نَسِيتُ " ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، قَالَ : فَنَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، فَقَامَ ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَسَجَدَ كَسَجْدَتِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ وَكَبَّرَ ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَكَبَّرَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led one of the two afternoon prayers, either Zuhr or Asr, most probably, and after leading only two rak'ahs, he said salam and finished the prayer. He then came to the pillar in the mosque which was broad, and with his hand made a gesture as if he was angry. The hasty people began to leave the mosque and started saying that the number of rak'ahs in the prayer had been reduced. Among the people present at that time were Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), but they felt awe in speaking to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this matter. At this, Dhul-Yadain said: "O Messenger of Allah! Did you forget or has the number of rak'ahs in the prayer been reduced?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have neither forgotten nor has the number of rak'ahs been reduced." Dhul-Yadain said: "You have only performed two rak'ahs." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked questioningly towards the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), as if to ask whether it was as Dhul-Yadain was saying. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) confirmed it. Upon this, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and performed two more rak'ahs, then said salam, said "Allahu Akbar," and performed a prostration like that of prayer or even longer, then raised his head and said takbeer and sat down, then again said takbeer and performed a second prostration.
Hadith 7377
(حديث مرفوع) قُرِئَ عَلَى سُفْيَانَ ، سَمِعْتُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي ، وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Name yourselves after me, but do not take my kunya (patronymic name) as your kunya."
Hadith 7378
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي ، وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Name yourselves after me, but do not take my kunya (patronymic) as your kunya."
Hadith 7379
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَفِظْتُ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ ضَمْضَمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْأَسْوَدَيْنِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ الْعَقْرَبِ وَالْحَيَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has commanded that even during prayer, two black things may be killed, that is, the snake and the scorpion.
Hadith 7380
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ : عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قِيلَ لَهُ : عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، " مَنْ ابْتَاعَ مُحَفَّلَةً ، أَوْ مُصَرَّاةً ، فَهُوَ بِالْخِيَارِ ، فَإِنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يَرُدَّهَا ، فَلْيَرُدَّهَا ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ يُمْسِكُهَا ، أَمْسَكَهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu' form that whoever (being deceived) buys such a she-camel or goat, then he has the choice of one of two things, whichever is better for him: either he keeps the animal with himself (and settles the matter), or he returns the animal to its owner.
Hadith 7381
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَمَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ ، فَلَمْ يَرْفُثْ وَلَمْ يَفْسُقْ ، رَجَعَ كَيَوْمِ ، وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever performs Hajj in such a way that he neither becomes indecent with his women nor commits any sinful act, he will return to his home as pure as the day his mother gave birth to him.
Hadith 7382
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنِ الْأَغَرِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ أَعَادَهُ ، فَقَالَ : الْأَغَرِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " الْكِبْرِيَاءُ رِدَائِي ، وَالْعِزَّةُ إِزَارِي ، فَمَنْ نَازَعَنِي ، وَاحِدًا مِنْهُمَا ، أُلْقِيهِ فِي النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has said: Grandeur is My upper garment and Majesty is My lower garment; whoever disputes with Me regarding either of them, I will cast him into Hell.
Hadith 7383
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَصْدَقُ بَيْتٍ قَالَهُ الشَّاعِرُ : أَلَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلَا اللَّهَ بَاطِلُ وَكَادَ ابْنُ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ يُسْلِمُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The truest verse ever spoken by a poet is this: Remember, everything besides Allah is false (perishable), and Umayyah bin Abi al-Salt was close to accepting Islam.
Hadith 7384
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَوْبَرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَائِمًا ، وَقَاعِدًا ، وَحَافِيًا ، وَمُنْتَعِلًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray while standing and also while sitting, both after removing his shoes and while wearing them.
Hadith 7385
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، وَزَادَ فِيهِ : وَيَنْفَتِلُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ .
In the previous hadith, with this second chain of narration, it is also reported that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would return from the right side as well as from the left side.
Hadith 7386
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ مُحَيْصِنٍ ، شَيْخٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ سَهْمِيٌّ ، سَمِعَهُ مِنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ : مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ سورة النساء آية 123 شَقَّتْ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، وَبَلَغَتْ مِنْهُمْ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَبْلُغَ ، فَشَكَوْا ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَارِبُوا وَسَدِّدُوا ، فَكُلُّ مَا يُصَابُ بِهِ الْمُسْلِمُ كَفَّارَةٌ ، حَتَّى النَّكْبَةِ يُنْكَبُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when this verse was revealed: "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it..." this was very hard on the Muslims and various kinds of doubts began to arise in their hearts. They complained about this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remain close to good deeds and stay on the straight path and right word, because whatever hardship befalls a Muslim, it becomes an expiation for his sins, even the wound that he receives or the thorn that pricks him (that too becomes an expiation for his sins).
Hadith 7387
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا ، سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَام ، فَقَالَ مُوسَى : يَا آدَمُ ، أَنْتَ أَبُونَا ، خَيَّبْتَنَا ، وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّة ! فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ : يَا مُوسَى ، أَنْتَ اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلَامِهِ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ ، أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ؟ ! قَالَ : حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى ، حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Once, in the realm of souls, there was a debate between Hazrat Adam and Hazrat Musa (peace be upon them). Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) said, "O Adam! You are our father. You made us ashamed and caused us to be expelled from Paradise?" Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) replied, "O Musa, Allah chose you to speak with Him and wrote the Torah for you with His own hand. Do you blame me for something which Allah had decreed for me forty years before my creation?" In this way, Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) prevailed over Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him).
Hadith 7388
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْقَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : لَا وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ مَا أَنَا قُلْتُ : " مَنْ أَصْبَحَ جُنُبًا ، فَلَا يَصُومُ " مُحَمَّدٌ وَرَبِّ الْبَيْتِ قَالَهُ ، مَا أَنَا نَهَيْتُ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ ، مُحَمَّدٌ نَهَى عَنْهُ وَرَبِّ الْبَيْتِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that by the Lord of this House (the Ka'bah), I did not say that whoever enters the morning in the state of should not fast; rather, by the Lord of this House, it is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) who said this. And I did not prohibit fasting on Friday; rather, by the Lord of this House, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited it.
Hadith 7389
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ يَعْنِي وَهْبًا ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : " لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ أَكْثَرَ حَدِيثًا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنِّي إِلَّا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَكْتُبُ ، وَكُنْتُ لَا أَكْتُبُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that no one knows more of the sayings of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) than me except Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), because he used to write them down and I did not write.
Hadith 7390
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ . وَيَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ وَجَدَ مَالَهُ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ مُفْلِسٍ ، فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a man is declared bankrupt and someone finds his own property with him in its original form, then compared to others, he has a greater right to that property.
Hadith 7391
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، سَمِعَهُ مِنْ شَيْخٍ ، فَقَالَ مَرَّةً : سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ أَعْرَابِيٍّ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ قَرَأَ : وَالْمُرْسَلاتِ عُرْفًا سورة المرسلات آية 1 فَبَلَغَ : فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ سورة المرسلات آية 50 ، فَلْيَقُلْ : آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ ، وَمَنْ قَرَأَ : وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُون ، فَلْيَقُلْ : بَلَى ، وَأَنَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ مِنَ الشَّاهِدِينَ ، وَمَنْ قَرَأَ : أَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَى سورة القيامة آية 40 ، فَلْيَقُلْ : بَلَى " . قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ فَذَهَبْتُ أَنْظُرُ ، هَلْ حَفِظَ ؟ وَكَانَ أَعْرَابِيًّا ، فَقَالَ : يَا ابْنَ أَخِي ، أَظَنَنْتَ أَنِّي لَمْ أَحْفَظْهُ ! لَقَدْ حَجَجْتُ سِتِّينَ حَجَّةً ، مَا مِنْهَا سَنَةٌ ، إِلَّا أَعْرِفُ الْبَعِيرَ الَّذِي حَجَجْتُ عَلَيْهِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever recites the last verse of Surah Mursalat, "Fabi ayyi hadeethin ba'dahu yu'minoon," he should say, "Aamanna billah" (We believe in Allah). And whoever recites the last verse of Surah Qiyamah, "Alaysa dhalika biqadirin 'ala an yuhyiya almawta," he should say, "Bala" (Why not). The narrator of the hadith, Ismail, says: The person from whom I heard this hadith was a villager, so I wanted to test his memory to see if he had remembered it correctly or not. He said, "O nephew, do you think I have not remembered this hadith? I have performed Hajj sixty times, and I even remember the identity of the camel on which I performed Hajj each year."
Hadith 7392
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ الْعُذْرِيِّ ، قَالَ مَرَّةً : عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلْيَجْعَلْ تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ شَيْئًا ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ شَيْئًا ، فَلْيَنْصِبْ عَصًا ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ عَصًا ، فَلْيَخُطَّ خَطًّا ، وَلَا يَضُرُّهُ مَا مَرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you intends to pray, he should place something in front of him (as a sutrah). If he does not find anything, he should set up a staff, and if there is not even a staff, then he should draw a line. After that, whatever passes in front of him, it does not matter.
Hadith 7393
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَان ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَرْفَعُهُ ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ .

وقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، وَالثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَرْفَعُهُ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا زَنَتْ أَمَةُ أَحَدِكُمْ ، فَتَبَيَّنَ زِنَاهَا ، فَلْيَجْلِدْهَا الْحَدَّ ، وَلَا يُثَرِّبْ " . قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : لَا يُثَرِّبْ عَلَيْهَا أَيْ لَا يُعَيِّرْهَا عَلَيْهَا فِي الثَّالِثَةِ ، أَوْ الرَّابِعَةِ : " فَليَبِعْهَا وَلَوْ بِضَفِيرٍ " .
(Marfu' hadith) Sufyan narrated to us, from Ayyub ibn Musa, from Sa'id, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "If the slave woman of any of you commits adultery, and her adultery is confirmed, let him carry out the prescribed punishment on her, and let him not reproach her." Sufyan said: Let him not reproach her, meaning let him not shame her for it. On the third or fourth time: "Let him sell her, even for a rope."
Hadith 7396
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ مِينَاءَ ، سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : " سَجَدْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ ، و اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed sajdah of recitation at the verse of sajdah in Surah Inshiqaq and Surah Alaq.
Hadith 7397
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ فِي عَبْدِهِ ، وَلَا فَرَسِهِ صَدَقَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no zakat on a Muslim's horse and slave.
Hadith 7398
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لِحَسَنٍ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُحِبُّهُ ، فَأَحِبَّهُ ، وَأَحِبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding Hazrat Imam Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him): O Allah, I love him, so You also love him, and love those who love him.
