Musnad of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 7279
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : سَأَلْتُهُ أنا عَنْهُ : كَيْفَ الطَّعَامُ ، أَيْ طَعَامُ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ ؟ قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي الْأَعْرَجُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : " شَرُّ الطَّعَامِ ، طعامُ الْوَلِيمَةُ ، يُدْعَى إِلَيْهَا الْأَغْنِيَاءُ ، وَيُتْرَكُ الْمَسَاكِينُ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَأْتِ الدَّعْوَةَ ، فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the worst food is the food of a wedding feast to which the rich are invited and the poor are left out, and whoever does not accept the invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 7280
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " ، قال عبد الله بن أحمد : قَالَ أَبِي : سَمِعْتُهُ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ مِنْ سُفْيَانَ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ " ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " مَنْ قَامَ " ، وَمَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven. My father says that I heard this hadith from Sufyan four times, and in it there is also this addition: Whoever stands (in prayer) during the Night of Qadr with faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven.
Hadith 7281
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرَغِّبُ فِي قِيَامِ يَعْنِي رَمَضَانَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraging the observance of standing (in prayer) during Ramadan.
Hadith 7282
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، رِوَايَةً : " إِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ ، فَلَا يَغْمِسْ يَدَهُ فِي إِنَائِهِ ، حَتَّى يَغْسِلَهَا ثَلَاثًا ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي أَيْنَ بَاتَتْ يَدُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when any one of you wakes up from his sleep, he should not put his hand into a vessel until he has washed it three times, for he does not know where his hand was during the night.
Hadith 7283
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَمَّا مَاتَ النَّجَاشِيُّ أَخْبَرَهُمْ ، أَنَّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ ، فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the King of Abyssinia, Najashi, passed away, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of his passing. Consequently, the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) sought forgiveness for him.
Hadith 7284
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنْ صَلَاةٍ رَكْعَةً ، فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu’ form that whoever catches one rak’ah of any prayer, it is as if he has caught the whole prayer.
Hadith 7285
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " التَّسْبِيحُ لِلرِّجَالِ ، وَالتَّصْفِيقُ لِلنِّسَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that saying "Subhan Allah" upon the imam's mistake is prescribed for male followers, and clapping is prescribed for women.
Hadith 7286
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَأْتِي أَحَدَكُمْ الشَّيْطَانُ وَهُوَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ ، فَيَلْبِسُ عَلَيْهِ ، حَتَّى لَا يَدْرِيَ كَمْ صَلَّى ، فَمَنْ وَجَدَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا ، فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ، وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when any one of you is performing prayer, Satan comes to him and confuses him, to the extent that he does not remember how many rak'ahs he has performed. Whoever experiences such a situation should, when he sits in the final sitting (qa'dah akheerah), perform two prostrations of forgetfulness (sujood as-sahw).
Hadith 7287
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذِهِ الْحَبَّةِ السَّوْدَاءِ ، فَإِنَّ فِيهَا شِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ ، إِلَّا السَّامَ " . قَالَ سُفْيَانُ السَّامُ : الْمَوْتُ ، وَهِيَ الشُّونِيزُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Make use of this black seed, for indeed it contains a cure for every disease except death.
Hadith 7288
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَوْ سَعِيدٍ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الدُّبَّاءِ ، وَالْمُزَفَّتِ أَنْ يُنْتَبَذَ فِيهِ " . وَيَقُولُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : " وَاجْتَنِبُوا الْحَنَاتِمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade making and drinking nabidh in vessels called daba’ and muzaffat, and Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: Refrain from using vessels called hantam as well.
Hadith 7289
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : أَبْصَرَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْأَقْرَعُ يُقَبِّلُ حَسَنًا ، فَقَالَ : لِي عَشَرَةٌ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ ، مَا قَبَّلْتُ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ قَطُّ ! قَالَ : " إِنَّهُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ ، لَا يُرْحَمُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Once Aqra’ bin Habis saw that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was kissing Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him). He said, “I have ten sons, but I have never kissed any of them.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever does not show mercy to others, mercy will not be shown to him.
Hadith 7290
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : رَجُلٌ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : هَلَكْتُ ، قَالَ : " وَمَا أَهْلَكَكَ " ، قَالَ : وَقَعْتُ عَلَى امْرَأَتِي فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَتَجِدُ رَقَبَةً ؟ " قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : " تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ ؟ " قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : " تَسْتَطِيعُ تُطْعِمُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ؟ " قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : " اجْلِسْ " ، فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرْقٍ فِيهِ تَمْرٌ ، وَالْعَرْقُ الْمِكْتَلُ الضَّخْم ، قَالَ : " تَصَدَّقْ بِهَذَا " ، قَالَ : عَلَى أَفْقَرَ مِنَّا ؟ ! مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا أَفْقَرُ مِنَّا ، قَال : فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ : " أَطْعِمْهُ أَهْلَكَ " . وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : فَتَبَسَّمَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ أَنْيَابُهُ ، وَقَالَ : " أَطْعِمْهُ عِيَالَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "I am ruined." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "What has ruined you?" He said, "I had intercourse with my wife during the day in the month of Ramadan." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Free a slave." He said, "I do not have a slave." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Fast for two consecutive months." He said, "I do not have the strength for that." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Feed sixty needy people." He said, "I do not have that much." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Sit down." In the meantime, a large basket of dates was brought to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from somewhere. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Take this and feed sixty needy people on your behalf." He submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! From this corner of Madinah to that corner, there is no household more needy than ours." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and said, "Go, you and your family eat it."
Hadith 7291
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ الْحُرَقِيِّ ، فِي بَيْتِهِ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : " أَيُّمَا صَلَاةٍ لَا يُقْرَأُ فِيهَا بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ، فهي خداج ، ثم هي خداج ، ثم هي خداج " . قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : وَقَالَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ حَبِيبِي عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاة وَالسَّلَامُ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ يَا فَارِسِيُّ ، اقْرَأْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : قَسَمْتُ الصَّلَاةَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ عَبْدِي ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : لِعَبْدِي مَا سَأَلَ ، فَإِذَا قَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 2 ، قَال : حَمِدَنِي عَبْدِي ، فَإِذَا قَالَ : الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ سورة الفاتحة آية 3 ، قَالَ : مَجَّدَنِي عَبْدِي ، أَوْ أَثْنَى عَلَيَّ عَبْدِي ، فَإِذَا قَالَ : مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ سورة الفاتحة آية 4 ، قَالَ : فَوَّضَ إِلَيَّ عَبْدِي ، فَإِذَا قَالَ : إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ سورة الفاتحة آية 5 ، قَالَ : فَهَذِهِ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ عَبْدِي ، وَلِعَبْدِي مَا سَأَلَ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : مَا سَأَلَنِي ، فَيَسْأَلُهُ عَبْدُهُ : اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 6 - 7 ، قَالَ : هَذَا لِعَبْدِي ، ولَكَ مَا سَأَلْتَ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : وَلِعَبْدِي مَا سَأَلَنِي " .
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that any prayer in which Surah Al-Fatiha is not recited is incomplete, incomplete, incomplete. And this statement was also made by my beloved (peace be upon him) before me. Then he said: O Farsi! Recite Surah Al-Fatiha, because I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that Allah Almighty has said: I have divided the prayer between Myself and My servant (and My servant will get what he asks for). So when the servant says, "All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds," Allah Almighty says, "My servant has praised Me." When the servant says, "The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful," Allah Almighty says, "My servant has extolled My greatness or glorified Me." When the servant says, "Master of the Day of Judgment," Allah Almighty says, "My servant has entrusted himself to Me." When the servant says, "You alone we worship and You alone we ask for help," Allah Almighty says, "This is between Me and My servant, and My servant will get what he asks for." Then when the servant recites from "Guide us to the straight path" to the end, Allah Almighty says, "This is for My servant, and what you have asked of Me, you will surely receive." In another narration, it is stated: "My servant will receive what he has asked from Me."
Hadith 7292
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ يَبِيعُ طَعَامًا ، فَسَأَلَهُ : " كَيْفَ تَبِيعُ ؟ " فَأَخْبَرَهُ ، فَأُوحِيَ إِلَيْهِ : أَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِيهِ ، فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ مَبْلُولٌ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ غَشّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was selling wheat. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "At what rate are you selling?" He told the price. Meanwhile, revelation came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to put his hand into the heap of wheat and check. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand into it, and it was wet inside. Upon this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He who deceives is not from among us."
Hadith 7293
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْيَمِينُ الْكَاذِبَةُ مَنْفَقَةٌ لِلسِّلْعَةِ ، مَمْحَقَةٌ لِلْكَسْبِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By swearing a false oath, goods may be sold but the blessing is erased.
Hadith 7294
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَرْفَعُهُ : " إِذَا تَثَاءَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ ، يَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى فِيهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu' form that when any one of you yawns, he should place his hand over his mouth.
Hadith 7295
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ عِرَاكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ فِي فَرَسِهِ ، وَلَا عَبْدِهِ صَدَقَةٌ " .
It is narrated marfu'an from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that there is no zakat on a Muslim's horse and slave.
Hadith 7296
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " إِنْ هَمَّ عَبْدِي بِحَسَنَةٍ ، فاكْتُبُوها ، فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا ، فَاكْتُبُوهَا بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا ، وَإِنْ هَمَّ بِسَيِّئَةٍ ، فَلَا تَكْتُبُوهَا ، فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا ، فَاكْتُبُوهَا بِمِثْلِهَا ، فَإِنْ تَرَكَهَا ، فَاكْتُبُوهَا حَسَنَةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah Almighty (says to His angels): If any of My servants intends to do a good deed, then record it. Then if he acts upon it, record it multiplied by ten. And if he intends to commit a sin, do not record it. If he commits the sin, then record only one sin. And if he refrains from it, then record one good deed.
Hadith 7297
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " لَا يَأْتِي النَّذْرُ عَلَى ابْنِ آدَمَ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ أُقَدِّرْهُ عَلَيْهِ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ شَيْءٌ أَسْتَخْرِجُ بِهِ مِنَ الْبَخِيلِ ، يُؤْتِينِي عَلَيْهِ مَا يُؤْتِينِي عَلَى الْبُخْلِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has said, "Whatever I have not decreed, the vow of the son of Adam cannot bring it to him. However, through this vow, I extract wealth from a miserly person; he gives Me that which, in his state of miserliness, he would never have given."
Hadith 7298
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ ، أَنْفِقْ ، أُنْفِقْ عَلَيْكَ " . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) وَقَالَ : " يَمِينُ اللَّهِ مَلْأَى سَحَّاءُ ، لَا يَغِيضُهَا شَيْءٌ ، اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu’ form that Allah Almighty says: O son of Adam! Spend, I will spend on you. And He said: Allah’s right hand is full and very generous; nothing decreases it, and He spends day and night.
Hadith 7299
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، رِوَايَةً ، قَالَ : قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " سَبَقَتْ رَحْمَتِي غَضَبِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah Almighty says: My mercy prevails over My wrath.
Hadith 7300
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلْيَجْعَلْ فِي أَنْفِهِ ، ثُمَّ لِيَسْتَنْثِرْ " ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " لِيَنْثُرْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you performs ablution, he should also clean his nose.
Hadith 7301
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلَا رَجُلٌ يَمْنَحُ أَهْلَ بَيْتٍ نَاقَةً ، تَغْدُو بِعُسٍّ ، وَتَرُوحُ بِعُسٍّ ، إِنَّ أَجْرَهَا لَعَظِيمٌ " .
It is narrated marfu'an from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that remember, whoever gives to the people of a household a she-camel as a gift, such that it fills a vessel with milk in the morning and fills a vessel in the evening, its reward is very great.
Hadith 7302
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، وَابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يُكْلَمُ أَحَدٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ يُكْلَمُ فِي سَبِيلِهِ ، إِلَّا جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَالْجُرْحُ يَثْعَبُ دَمًا ، اللَّوْنُ لَوْنُ دَمٍ ، وَالرِّيحُ رِيحُ مِسْكٍ " . وَأَفْرَدَهُ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً : عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever receives a wound in the path of Allah—and Allah knows who is wounded in His path—he will come on the Day of Resurrection with his wound fresh, just as it was on the day it was inflicted. Its color will be like blood, but its fragrance will be like musk.
Hadith 7303
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَقْتَسِمُ وَرَثَتِي دِينَارًا ، وَلَا دِرْهَمًا ، مَا تَرَكْتُ بَعْدَ نَفَقَةِ نِسَائِي ، وَمَئُونَةِ عَامِلِي ، فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu' form that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My heirs will not distribute dinars and dirhams. Whatever I leave, apart from the maintenance of my wives and the wages of my worker, is all charity.
Hadith 7304
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ " . قال عبد الله بن أحمد : قَالَ أَبِي : لَمْ نَكُنْ نُكَنِّيهِ بِأَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، كُنَّا نُكَنِّيهِ بِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu’ form that if any of you is invited to a meal and he is fasting, then he should say, "I am fasting."
Hadith 7305
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَلَقَّوْا الْبَيْعَ ، وَلَا تُصَرُّوا الْغَنَمَ ، وَالْإِبِلَ لِلْبَيْعِ ، فَمَنْ ابْتَاعَهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، فَهُوَ بِخَيْرِ النَّظَرَيْنِ : إِنْ شَاءَ أَمْسَكَهَا ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ رَدَّهَا بِصَاعِ تَمْرٍ ، لَا سَمْرَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not make deals with traders outside (the market), and do not tie the teats of a goat or she-camel in order to sell it at a higher price. Whoever (falls victim to this deception and) buys such a she-camel or goat, then he has the choice of two things, whichever is better for him: either he keeps the animal with himself (and settles the matter), or he returns the animal to its owner and gives a sa’ (measure) of dates along with it.
Hadith 7306
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الشَّأْنِ ، مُسْلِمُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِمُسْلِمِهِمْ ، وَكَافِرُهُمْ تَبَعٌ لِكَافِرِهِمْ " .
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu’ form that in matters of this religion, all people are subordinate to the Quraysh; the common Muslims are subordinate to the Qurayshi Muslims, and the common disbelievers are subordinate to the Qurayshi disbelievers.
Hadith 7307
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يُصَلِّي الرَّجُلُ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ لَيْسَ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْه شَيْءٌ " . وَقَالَ مَرَّةً " عَاتِقِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No person should offer prayer in such a way that he is wearing only one garment and none of it covers his shoulders.
Hadith 7308
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَعْقِدُ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ رَأْسِ أَحَدِكُمْ ثَلَاثَ عُقَدٍ ، بِكُلِّ عُقْدَةٍ يَضْرِبُ عَلَيْكَ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا فَارْقُدْ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : يَضْرِبُ عَلَيْهِ بِكُلِّ عُقْدَةٍ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا ، قَالَ : وَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ ، فَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَةٌ ، فَإِذَا تَوَضَّأَ ، انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَتَانِ ، فَإِذَا صَلَّى ، انْحَلَّتْ الْعُقَدُ ، وَأَصْبَحَ طَيِّبَ النَّفْسِ نَشِيطًا ، وَإِلَّا أَصْبَحَ خَبِيثَ النَّفْسِ كَسْلَانً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Satan ties three knots at the back of the head of any one of you while he sleeps. On each knot he says, "The night is long, so sleep." If the person wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone. If he performs ablution, two knots are undone. And if he offers prayer, all the knots are undone, and he begins the morning energetic and with a satisfied heart. Otherwise, he enters the morning with a foul heart and feeling lazy.
Hadith 7309
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ " أُرْسِلَ عَلَى أَيُّوبَ رِجْلٌ مِنْ جَرَادٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَجَعَلَ يَقْبِضُهَا فِي ثَوْبِهِ ، فَقِيلَ : يَا أَيُّوبُ ، أَلَمْ يَكْفِكَ مَا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ ؟ ! قَالَ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، وَمَنْ يَسْتَغْنِي عَنْ فَضْلِكَ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) in a mawquf manner that once Allah Almighty sent down golden locusts upon Hazrat Ayyub (peace be upon him). Hazrat Ayyub (peace be upon him) began to gather them in his garment. Then a voice came: "O Ayyub! Is what We have given you not sufficient for you?" He replied, "O Lord! Who can be free of need from Your grace?"
Hadith 7310
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَحْنُ الْآخِرُونَ ، وَنَحْنُ السَّابِقُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، بَيْدَ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " بَيْدَ أَنَّ " وَجَمَعَهُ ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ ، فَقَالَ : قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا : " بَيْدَ أَنَّ " ، وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ : : بَايْدَ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أُوتِيَتْ الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا ، وَأُوتِينَاهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) ثُمَّ هَذَا الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَاخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ ، فَهَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَهُ ، فَالنَّاسُ لَنَا فِيهِ تَبَعٌ ، فَلِلْيَهُودِ غَدٌ ، وَلِلنَّصَارَى بَعْدَ غَدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Although we came last, on the Day of Resurrection we will surpass everyone. The only difference is that every nation was given the Book before us, while we received the Book later. Then, Friday was appointed by Allah for them, but they differed regarding it. So Allah guided us to it, and now people follow us in this matter. The Jews have the next day (Saturday), and the Christians have the day after that (Sunday).
Hadith 7311
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ ، أَغْضَبُ كَمَا يَغْضَبُ الْبَشَرُ ، فَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ آذَيْتُهُ ، أَوْ جَلَدْتُهُ ، فَاجْعَلْهَا لَهُ زَكَاةً وَصَلَاةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am also a human being; just as other people become angry, I also become angry. (O Allah) If I have caused any harm to anyone (unknowingly) or struck someone with a whip, make it a means of purification and mercy for that person.
Hadith 7312
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No townsman should sell the merchandise of a villager.
Hadith 7313
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ " ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : " لَوْ أَنَّ امْرَأً اطَّلَعَ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِكَ ، فَحَذَفْتَهُ بِحَصَاةٍ ، فَفَقَأْتَ عَيْنَهُ مَا كَانَ عَلَيْكَ جُنَاحٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a person looks into your house without your permission and you throw a pebble at him which causes his eye to be blinded, there is no sin upon you.
Hadith 7314
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَقُلْ : اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنْ شِئْتَ ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَعْزِمْ بِالْمَسْأَلَةِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا مُكْرِهَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated marfu‘an from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when any one of you makes supplication, he should not say: "O Allah! If You will, forgive me," but rather he should supplicate with determination and certainty, for there is no one who can compel Allah.
Hadith 7315
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ الطُّفَيْلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدَّوْسِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ دَوْسًا قَدْ عَصَتْ وَأَبَتْ ، فَادْعُ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقِبْلَةَ ، وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ : هَلَكُوا ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ دَوْسًا وَائتِ بِهِمْ ، اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ دَوْسًا وَاْئتِ بِهِمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Tufail bin Amr Dosi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "The people of the tribe of Daws are persistent in disobedience and denial, so please supplicate against them." Thereupon, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards the Qiblah and raised both hands. The people said, "The people of the tribe of Daws are destroyed." But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed three times, "O Allah! Grant guidance to the tribe of Daws and bring them here."
Hadith 7316
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ ، وَلَكِنْ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wealth is not in the abundance of possessions; true wealth is the wealth of the heart.
Hadith 7317
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَاللَّهِ لَأَنْ يَأْخُذَ أَحَدُكُمْ حَبْلًا ، فَيَحْتَطِبَ ، فَيَحْمِلَهُ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ ، فَيَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَتَصَدَّقَ ، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ رَجُلًا أَغْنَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ ، فَيَسْأَلَهُ أَعْطَاهُ أَوْ مَنَعَهُ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ الْيَدَ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Allah! It is much better that one of you takes a rope, gathers firewood, carries it on his back, sells it, and eats from what he earns or gives it in charity, rather than going to someone whom Allah has granted wealth and property out of His bounty and asking him for something—whether he gives him something or not—because the upper hand is better than the lower hand.
Hadith 7318
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ ، وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ، وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا ، وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ، وَلَا يَزْنِي حِينَ يَزْنِي ، وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ " .
It is narrated marfu‘an from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that at the moment when a person steals, he is not a believer; at the moment when a person drinks alcohol, he is not a believer; and at the moment when a person commits adultery, he is not a believer.
