Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from a companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions (may Allah be pleased with them): "There are some among you to whom I do not give anything, rather I entrust them to their faith. Among them is Furat bin Hayyan; he belonged to Banu ‘Ajl."

It is narrated from a companion of Banu Hilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "It is not lawful for a wealthy or healthy and strong person to take zakat money."

It is narrated from a servant of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "who served the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for eight years," that whenever food was presented before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would begin by saying Bismillah, and when he finished eating, he would recite this supplication: O Allah! You have fed and given drink, granted sufficiency and sustenance, You have granted guidance and life; all praise is due to You for Your bounties.

It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever conceals the faults of his Muslim brother in this world, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection. When another Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) learned of this hadith, he packed his belongings and set out for the Companion who lived in Egypt. Upon reaching there, he asked, "Did you hear the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this?" He replied in the affirmative. Then the traveling Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I too heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this."

It is narrated from Hazrat Junadah bin Abi Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that some of the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were of the opinion that the command of migration (Hijrah) had ended, while other companions held a different view. So I went to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Some people say that migration has ended?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Migration cannot end as long as Jihad remains."

It is narrated from an Ansari companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the time of ignorance, the practice of "Qasamah" was prevalent regarding murder. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) maintained it in the same manner as it was in the time of ignorance, and in the case of some Ansari individuals—who belonged to Banu Harithah and had made a claim against the Jews—the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave the same ruling.

It is narrated from a companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that he once saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) praying, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: O Allah, forgive my sins, grant me personal ease, and bless my sustenance.

Abu Imran (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I said to Jundub that I have pledged allegiance to Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him). These people want me to go with them to Syria. Jundub said, "Do not go." I said, "They will not let me do otherwise." He said, "Save yourself by giving financial ransom." I said, "They are not willing to accept anything except that I go with them and display my swordsmanship." Upon this, Jundub said, "Such-and-such a person narrated this hadith to me, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, the murdered person will bring his killer before Allah and say, 'O Lord! Ask him for what reason he killed me?' So Allah will ask him, 'For what reason did you kill him?' He will say, 'Because of so-and-so's government.' Therefore, you should beware of this."

It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of ‘Arj pouring water over his head due to thirst or heat, and he continued to fast. Then, when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the place of Kudayd, he asked for a bowl of water and drank it, and the people also broke their fast. This was the year of the conquest of Makkah.

It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the year of the conquest of Makkah, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed the people to break their fast, saying: "Gain strength for your enemy." However, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself kept the fast. The narrator says: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of 'Arj pouring water over his head due to thirst or heat. Meanwhile, someone informed that, "O Messenger of Allah! When the people saw you fasting, some of them also kept the fast." So, when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the place of Kudayd, he asked for a bowl of water, drank it, and the people also broke their fast.

It is narrated from a sheikh of Banu Malik bin Kinanah that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) walking around in the market called Dhu al-Majaz. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "O people! Affirm that there is no god but Allah, you will be successful." And Abu Jahl, while throwing dust, kept saying: "O people! Do not let him mislead you from your religion. He wants you to abandon your gods and al-Lat and al-Uzza." But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pay attention to him. We said to them: "Describe to us the appearance of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." They said: "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing two red garments, was of medium height, his body was full of flesh, his face was extremely beautiful and handsome, his hair was intensely black, his complexion was very bright and white, and his hair was thick."

Aswad bin Hilal narrates from a man of his tribe who used to say during the caliphate of Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Usman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) would not pass away until he became the caliph. We would ask him, "How do you know this?" He would reply, "I once heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Last night I saw in a dream that the weight of three of my companions (may Allah be pleased with them) was measured. First, the weight of Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was measured, and his scale tipped. Then the weight of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was measured, and his scale also tipped. Then the weight of Hazrat Usman was measured, and the weight of our companion was less, though he is a righteous man.'"

It is narrated from a Sheikh "who met the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)" that once I set out on a journey with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) passed by a man who was reciting Surah Al-Kafirun. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "He has become free from shirk." Then he saw another man who was reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Because of its blessing, Paradise has become obligatory for him."

It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said one day: "Today your brother (the King of Abyssinia, Najashi) has passed away. Come, form rows and offer his funeral prayer."

It is narrated from Hazrat Kuroom bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the vow he had made during the time of ignorance. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Did you make that vow for any idol or stone?" He replied, "No, rather I made it for Allah." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then fulfill the vow you made for Allah; slaughter an animal at the place called Buwana and fulfill your vow." He submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! The mother of this girl had vowed to walk on foot; can this girl walk on her behalf?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes!"

Yazid bin Numran says that once I met a paralyzed man. I asked him the reason for his condition, so he replied that once I passed in front of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) while riding my donkey. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "He has broken our prayer, may Allah break his legs." Since that time, I have been paralyzed.

An Ansari companion (may Allah be pleased with him), who was assigned to take care of the camel of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), says: Once the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent him somewhere. I went a little distance and then returned and said, "O Messenger of Allah! If a camel is about to die, what do you command?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Slaughter it, then soak its hooves in its blood and place them on its forehead or its side, and do not eat from it, nor should any of your companions eat from it."
