It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that once ‘Uyainah bin Badr, Aqra‘ bin Habis, and ‘Alqamah bin ‘Ullathah were gathered in the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). These people began to discuss their ancestors. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you people remain silent, I will tell you the reality about them. The ancestor of Banu ‘Amir is like that red or wheat-colored camel which is eating the leaves of various trees in a garden. The ancestor of Banu Ghatafan is like that rough hill which keeps people away from itself. Upon this, Aqra‘ bin Habis said: Where did the ancestor of Banu Tamim go? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Alas! If only you could remain silent.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once I and my father went to Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). He seated us on a bed, then food was presented which we ate. Then (nabidh) was brought to drink, which Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) drank first, then handed the vessel to my father. He said, "Since the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it, I have not drunk it." Then Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I was the most handsome youth of the Quraysh and had the best teeth among them. Other than milk or the company of people who spoke good words, I did not find pleasure in anything greater than these."

It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was present in the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man named Ma'iz bin Malik came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have committed the sin of adultery. I wish that you purify me." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Go back." The next day he came again and confessed to adultery again. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him back again. Then he sent a man to his tribe and asked them, "What do you know about Ma'iz bin Malik Aslami? Do you see anything inappropriate in him or do you notice any defect in his intellect?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah! We do not see anything inappropriate in him, nor do we notice any defect in his intellect." Then for the third time, he came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and again confessed to adultery and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Purify me." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again sent a man to his tribe with the same question, and they repeated the same answer as before. Then, when he confessed for the fourth time, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a pit be dug for him, and he was lowered into that pit up to his chest. Then the people were ordered to stone him. Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), used to discuss among ourselves that if Ma'iz had sat in his house after confessing three times, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not have searched for him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only ordered him to be stoned after the fourth confession.

Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) once went to Hazrat Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). There was a man speaking there. Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Muawiyah! Do you permit me to speak?" He replied, "Yes!" He thought that he would say something like the first man, but Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: I hope that on the Day of Resurrection I will intercede for as many people as there are trees and soil on the earth. O Muawiyah! Can you hope for this intercession and Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) cannot hope for it?"
Hadith 22944
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from the tribe of Azd passed away and did not leave behind any heir. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Find his heir, find his close relative." But despite searching, none could be found. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give his wealth to the eldest man of Khuza'ah."

It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I participated with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in jihad in Yemen. I faced some harshness from him, so when I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I mentioned Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and spoke of him with some deficiency. I saw that the color of the blessed face of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was changing. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Buraidah! Do I not have more right over the believers than their own selves?" I said, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah!" It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not consider anything as a bad omen. However, when he intended to go to a certain place, he would first ask its name. If its name was good, the signs of happiness could be seen on the blessed face of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and if its name was not good, then its effects could also be seen on his blessed face. Similarly, when he sent someone somewhere, he would first ask his name. If his name was good, the signs of happiness could be seen on the blessed face, and if the name was bad, then its effects could also be seen.

It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a woman from the tribe of Ghamid came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery and I wish that you purify me." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent her back. The next day she came again and, confessing once more, said, "Perhaps you want to send me back like you sent Ma'iz back. By Allah, I am pregnant." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, "Go back until you give birth to the child." So when she had given birth to the child, she came again carrying the child and said, "O Messenger of Allah! The child has been born." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Go and nurse him." So when she had weaned the child, she brought the child, and at that time there was a piece of bread in the child's hand, and she said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have weaned him." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusted the child to a Muslim and ordered a pit to be dug for the woman. Then she was placed in it up to her chest, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the people to stone her. Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) brought a stone and struck her on the head, causing blood to flow onto Hazrat Khalid's cheek. He spoke harshly to her. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard this, he said, "Stop, Khalid! Do not speak ill of her. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, she has repented such a repentance that if a tax collector who is unjust were to repent like this, he would also be forgiven." Then, by the order of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), her funeral prayer was performed and she was buried.

It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was present in the gathering of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Learn Surah Al-Baqarah, for acquiring it is a blessing and leaving it is a cause of regret, and the wrongdoers do not have the power over it. Then after remaining silent for a while, he said: Learn both Surah Al-Baqarah and Aal-e-Imran, for these two are radiant Surahs which will shade their reciters on the Day of Resurrection in the form of clouds, canopies, or two flocks of birds. And on the Day of Resurrection, when a man's grave will be split open, the Qur'an will meet its reciter—who will be like a lean man—and will ask him: Do you recognize me? He will say: I do not recognize you. The Qur'an will say: I am your companion, the Qur'an, who kept you thirsty in the intense heat of the afternoons and kept you awake at night. Every trader is behind his trade, and today you too are behind your trade. Thus, sovereignty will be given in his right hand and everlastingness in his left hand, and a crown of dignity will be placed on his head. And his parents will be dressed in such garments that all the people of the world together would not be able to pay their price. His parents will ask: For what reason have we been dressed in this attire? It will be said: Due to the blessing of your child's acquisition of the Qur'an. Then it will be said to him: Start reciting the Qur'an and ascending the ranks and lofty chambers of Paradise. Thus, as long as he continues to recite, he will continue to ascend, whether he recites quickly or slowly.

It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was present in the gathering of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying that a nation with broad faces and small eyes will drive my Ummah, whose faces will be like shields (he said this three times), until they drive them into the Arabian Peninsula. At the time of the first encounter, those who flee will be saved; at the time of the second encounter, some people will be destroyed and some will be saved; and at the time of the third encounter, all those who survive will be destroyed. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who will those people be?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The Turks." By Him in Whose hand is my soul, they will surely tie their horses to the pillars of the Muslims' mosques. After hearing this hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the trial of the Turks, Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) would always keep two or three camels, travel provisions, and water skins ready with him so that he could depart immediately from there.

The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his hand and entered the mosque. Suddenly, the voice of a man reciting the Qur'an was heard. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do you think he is a show-off?" Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent. That man was supplicating: "O Allah! I ask You because I bear witness that You are Allah, there is no deity except You, You are One, Self-Sufficient, He begets not, nor is He begotten, and there is none like unto Him." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, he has asked Allah by His Greatest Name; when He is asked by it, He surely gives, and when supplicated by it, He surely answers." The next night, Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) again went out after 'Isha and again met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again took his hand and entered the mosque. Similarly, the voice of a man reciting the Qur'an was heard. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Do you think he is a show-off?" Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Do you think he is a show-off?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said twice, "No, rather he is one who turns (to Allah) and a believer." This voice was that of Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), who was reciting the Qur'an in a corner of the mosque. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Ash'ari has been given one of the beautiful tones of Dawud (peace be upon him)." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should I not inform him of this?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Why not, inform him." So I informed him of this. He said, "You are my friend, for you have told me a hadith of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked about the timings of prayer. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give him any answer, but rather ordered Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), who gave the iqamah for Fajr when dawn had broken and people could not recognize each other. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Zuhr when the sun had declined, and some said that half the day had passed, others said it had not, but he knew better. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Asr when the sun was still bright. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Maghrib when the sun had set. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Isha when the twilight had disappeared. Then, on the next day, he delayed Fajr so much that when the prayer was finished, people began to say that the sun was about to rise. He delayed Zuhr so much that it was close to the previous day's Asr. He delayed Asr so much that after the prayer people began to say that the sun had turned red. He delayed Maghrib until the disappearance of the twilight, and Isha until the first third of the night. Then he called the questioner and said: The time for prayer is between these two times.

The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) let go of my hand, brought both his palms together, raised them to the level of his shoulders and lowered them, and said three times, "Make moderation obligatory upon yourself, for whoever is harsh in matters of religion is overcome."
Hadith 22964
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The death of a Muslim man occurs as easily as the sweat on the forehead.

It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he went out at night and met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I ask You because I bear witness that You are Allah, there is no deity except You, You are One, Self-Sufficient, He begets not, nor is He begotten, and there is none like unto Him." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, he has asked Allah by His Greatest Name; when He is asked by it, He surely gives, and when supplicated by it, He surely answers."

It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the beginning, I disliked Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) so much that I had never disliked anyone to that extent, and solely because of my dislike for Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), I loved a man from the Quraysh. Once, that man was sent as the leader of a group of horsemen, so I also went with him, and only on the basis that he disliked Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). We captured some prisoners and wrote a letter to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asking him to send someone to us who could collect the khums (one-fifth) of the spoils of war. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to us. Among those prisoners was "Waseefah," who was the most distinguished woman among the captives. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) collected the khums and distributed it, then he came out with his head covered. We asked him, "O Abu al-Hasan! What is this?" He said, "Did you see that 'Waseefah' who was among the captives? When I collected the khums, she was included in the khums, then she came into the household of the Prophet, and from there she came into the family of Ali, and I have had relations with her." That man wrote a letter to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) informing him of this situation. I said to him, "Send this letter by my hand." So he sent me to confirm it. I presented myself in the presence of the Prophet and began to read the letter, and he said, "He has spoken the truth." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted my hand from the letter and said, "Do you dislike Ali?" I said, "Yes." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not dislike him, rather, if you love him, increase your love for him, for by the One in whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the share of the family of Ali in the khums is better than 'Waseefah.' After this statement, there was no one more beloved to me than Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)."

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was offering prayer near Maqam Ibrahim, and the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were sitting behind, waiting. After finishing the prayer, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) moved towards the Ka'bah as if trying to catch something. Then he returned, and the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) stood up. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his blessed hand for them to sit, so they sat down. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them, "Did you see me, after finishing the prayer, moving towards the Ka'bah as if I was trying to catch something?" They replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Paradise was presented before me, and I have never seen anything like its blessings. A bunch of grapes passed before me which I liked, so I moved forward to catch it, but it moved ahead of me. If I had caught it, I would have planted it before you so that you could eat the fruits of Paradise. And know that the mushroom is a cure for the eyes, and Ajwa is a fruit of Paradise, and this black seed which is in salt is a cure for every disease except death."
