It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Good dreams are from Allah and bad dreams are from Satan. Therefore, if anyone sees a disliked dream, he should not mention it to anyone. Rather, after seeing the dream, he should spit lightly three times to his left side and seek refuge in Allah from its evil; in this way, that dream will not harm him.
Hadith 22636
Kabsha bint Ka'b, who was married to the son of Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him), says: "Once Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her house. Kabsha placed water for his ablution. In the meantime, a cat came and began to drink water from that vessel. Hazrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) tilted the vessel for it, until the cat was satisfied. He saw that I was looking at him with astonishment, so he said, 'Niece! Are you surprised at this?' I said, 'Yes!' He said, 'The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is not impure, because it is an animal that frequently comes into your houses.'"

The questioner asked, "How about fasting for two days and leaving one day?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Who has the strength for that?" The questioner asked, "How about leaving two days and fasting one day?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Perhaps this is praiseworthy in the sight of Allah." Fasting three days in every month and fasting the whole month of Ramadan is equal to fasting all the time." The questioner asked, "What is the ruling on fasting on the Day of Arafah?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It is an expiation for the sins of the previous and coming year."
