Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) came and began to weep and said three times, "They are the dogs of Hell," and three times, "The worst of those killed under the shade of the sky," and, "The best of those killed under the shade of the sky was the one whom they martyred." After a little while, when he returned, someone asked, "Then why were you weeping?" He replied, "I felt pity for them." O Abu Umamah! This statement of yours, 'the dogs of Hell,' did you hear it from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) or are you saying it from your own opinion?" He replied, "Subhan Allah! And when he stands for prayer, it becomes a means for the elevation of his ranks." And Ghalib asked Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did you really hear this hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "Yes! By the One who sent the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner with the truth, not once or twice, but dozens of times I have heard it," and he counted all the numbers by clapping both his hands.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In my view, remembering Allah at the time of sunrise—saying Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, and Subhan Allah—is better than freeing four slaves from among the descendants of Ismail (peace be upon him). Similarly, remembering Allah from the Asr prayer until sunset is, in my view, better than freeing so many slaves from among the descendants of Ismail (peace be upon him).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) organized an army (in which I was also present). I came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah for martyrdom on my behalf." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, "O Allah! Keep him safe and grant him spoils of war." Thus, we returned safe and sound with the spoils of war. (When the army was organized again, I made the same request and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made the same prayer.) The third time when the army was organized, I came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have already come to you twice before, and I requested you to pray to Allah for martyrdom on my behalf, but you prayed for safety and spoils of war, and we returned safe and sound with the spoils of war. Therefore, O Messenger of Allah! Now pray for martyrdom for me." But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again prayed for safety and spoils of war, and we returned safe and sound with the spoils of war. After that, I came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Command me to do some deed." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Make fasting obligatory upon yourself, for you will meet (Allah) in the state of fasting." And if during the day smoke was seen rising from their house, people would understand that today a guest has come to them. Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I continued to act upon this for a long time, as long as Allah willed. Then I came to the court of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! You had commanded me to fast. I hope that Allah has granted us its blessings. Now tell me another deed." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Be certain that if you perform one prostration for Allah, Allah will, by its blessing, raise your rank by one degree and forgive one sin."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when you perform ablution properly, then when you sit down, all your sins will have been forgiven. If after that a person stands up and starts offering prayer, then it becomes a virtue and a source of reward for him. If he sits, he sits having been forgiven. A man asked him, "O Abu Umamah! Tell me, if he stands up and starts offering prayer, will it be considered nafl (supererogatory) for him?" He replied, "No, being nafl was a special characteristic of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); how can it be for an ordinary person while he is running about in sins and mistakes? For him, it is a source of reward."

Grant me permission to commit adultery." The people turned towards him and began to scold him and tried to push him back, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Come near me." He came close and sat near the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Would you like adultery for your mother?" He replied, "By Allah! Never, may I be sacrificed for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "People also do not like it for their mothers." Then he asked, "Would you like adultery for your daughter?" He replied, "By Allah! Never, may I be sacrificed for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "People also do not like it for their daughters." Then he asked, "Would you like adultery for your sister?" He replied, "By Allah! Never, may I be sacrificed for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "People also do not like it for their sisters." Then he asked, "Would you like adultery for your paternal aunt?" He replied, "By Allah! Never, may I be sacrificed for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "People also do not like it for their paternal aunts." Then he asked, "Would you like adultery for your maternal aunt?" He replied, "By Allah! Never, may I be sacrificed for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "People also do not like it for their maternal aunts." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his blessed hand on his body and prayed, "O Allah! Forgive his sins, purify his heart, and guard his private parts." The narrator says that after this, the young man never even turned his attention towards anyone.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Recite the Noble Qur’an, for it will intercede for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection. Recite the two radiant surahs, that is, Surah Al-Baqarah and Al-Imran, for these two surahs will come on the Day of Resurrection in the form of canopies or in the form of two flocks of birds in ranks, and they will defend their reciters. Then he said: Recite Surah Al-Baqarah, for acquiring it is a blessing and abandoning it is a cause of regret, and falsehood (magicians) cannot overcome it.
Hadith 22214
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Glad tidings for the person who saw me and believed in me, and glad tidings also for the person who believed in me without seeing me. He said this seven times.

A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Is Mudar not a part of the tribe of Rabi'ah?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "I only say what I am commanded to say."
