Both of them brought this dispute to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared it invalid and said: "One of you bites his brother like a bull." Hiyaj bin Imran once came to Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "My father has vowed that if his slave comes under his control, he will cut off one of his limbs." He replied: "Go to your father and tell him to give the expiation for his oath and not to cut off any of his limbs, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to encourage charity in his addresses and forbade mutilation." Then he went to Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him), and he also said the same.

It is narrated from Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man, at the time of his death, freed his six slaves, and he had no wealth other than them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called those slaves, divided them into three parts, and drew lots among them. Then, the two whose names were drawn were set free, and the remaining four were kept as slaves, and harsh words were used regarding the deceased.

Hiyaj bin Imran says that the slave of his father ran away. He (his father) vowed in the name of Allah that if he gained power over him, he would cut off his hand. Later, that slave came under his control, so he sent me to Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask about this issue. He said, "Go to your father, convey my greetings, and say that he should give the expiation for his oath and not cut off any limb of his body, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to encourage charity in his addresses and forbade mutilation." Then he sent me to Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him), and he also said the same.

It is narrated from Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "My grandson has passed away; what will I receive from his inheritance?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You will receive one-sixth." When he was about to leave, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called him back and said, "You will receive one more sixth." When he was about to leave again, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called him back and said, "This second sixth is an extra morsel for you."

And remember! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) combined Hajj and Umrah in one journey, then he did not prohibit it until his passing: nor was any command regarding its prohibition revealed in the Qur'an, so whoever says anything about it now, says so from his own opinion.
