Hadith of Uqbah ibn Amir Al-Juhani from the Prophet (peace be upon him)

171 hadith
Hadith 17451
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every Muslim is a brother to another Muslim. It is not lawful for any Muslim to conceal any defect in goods from his brother, such that if he were to know of that defect, he would leave it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Uqbah! Join ties with the one who severs relations with you, give to the one who deprives you, and forgive and turn away from the oppressor." It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once again I met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Uqbah! Guard your tongue, consider your house sufficient for yourself, and weep over your sins." It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once again I met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Uqbah bin Amir! Shall I not tell you about such Surahs, the like of which are not found in the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel, or the Qur'an?" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falaq, and Surah Nas, and said: "Uqbah, do not forget them, and do not let any night pass in which you do not recite these Surahs." So, from that time, I never forgot them and never spent a night without reciting them.

Ata says that once Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) traveled to Hazrat Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him), but he reached Hazrat Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) instead. Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "Tell me the whereabouts of Hazrat Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him)." So he reached Hazrat Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "Narrate to us that hadith which you heard directly from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and now there is no one left to hear it except you?" He replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever conceals the fault of his brother in this world, Allah Almighty will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection." After hearing this hadith, he went to his mount, mounted it, and returned.

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: When a person performs ablution and comes to the mosque with the intention of prayer, then for every step he takes towards the mosque, an angel writes ten good deeds for him in exchange for each step, and the one who sits waiting for the prayer is like the one who is engaged in prayer, until he returns.

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I will not attribute to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) any statement which he did not say. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: Whoever attributes a false statement to me, let him prepare his abode in Hell. And I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: There are two men from my Ummah, one of whom wakes up at night and prepares himself for ablution. At that time, there are some knots tied upon him. When he performs ablution and washes his hands, one knot is untied; when he washes his face, another knot is untied; when he wipes his head, another knot is untied; and when he washes his feet, another knot is untied. And Allah Almighty says to those who are unseen: Look at My servant who has struggled against his own self. Whatever My servant asks of Me, he will be granted.

And I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Two men from my Ummah, one of them rises at night and struggles with himself to purify himself, and upon him are knots. So he performs ablution; when he washes his hands, a knot is untied; when he washes his face, a knot is untied; when he wipes his head, a knot is untied; and when he washes his feet, a knot is untied. Then the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, says to those behind the veil: Look at this servant of Mine, he is struggling with himself. Whatever My servant asks of Me, it is for him."
