Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The term (authority) of a slave is three days.

Hasan narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no (option of) returning the position for more than four days.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Yahya bin Haban narrates that Ibn Zubair stated the period of return of a slave as three days because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said to Hazrat Munqidh bin Amr (when you make a purchase) say: There is no deception. When you sell something, you will have an option of three days.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Bakr narrates that I heard Aban bin Uthman and Hisham bin Ismail teaching about the option (of defect) regarding a slave, that for fever and stomach (illness) there is an option of three days, and for insanity and leprosy there is an option of one year. And the statement of (Imam) Abu Hanifa is mentioned that: When the two contracting parties separate, then they no longer have the option to reject the sold item without a defect.
