Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Goodness has been tied (placed) on the forelock of the horse until the Day of Judgment.

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah al-Bariqi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Goodness has been placed on the forehead of the horse until the Day of Judgment—reward and spoils of war as well. And Hazrat Ibn Idris adds in this hadith: And in the camel there is honor for its owner, and the goat is also a source of blessing.

It is narrated in the same manner from Hazrat Urwah al-Bariqi.

Hazrat Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he pointed towards the forehead of the horse with his blessed finger and said: Blessing has been placed in the forehead of the horse in the form of reward and spoils until the Day of Judgment.

It is narrated from Hazrat Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Goodness has been placed in the forelock of the horse until the Day of Judgment.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Blessing is in the forehead of the horse.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mak'hool (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Goodness has been placed in the forelock of the horse until the Day of Judgment. And their owners are their guardians and protectors.

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Goodness has been placed in the forelock of the horse until the Day of Judgment.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever keeps a horse for jihad, then its urine, dung, and even its fodder will be weighed in the book of deeds on the Day of Judgment.

It is narrated from Hazrat Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever keeps a horse for jihad and spends on it with the intention of reward, then its eating to fullness, its hunger and thirst, its dung and urine will be weighed in his record of deeds on the Day of Judgment (in the record of good deeds). And whoever keeps a horse for show and ostentation, then on the Day of Judgment it will be a cause of failure in his record of deeds.

Hazrat Abu Umar al-Shaybani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from an Ansari that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The horse is of three kinds. One is the horse that is kept for jihad; its price is a reward, riding it is a reward, renting it is a reward, and feeding it is a reward. The second is the horse that is kept for gambling; its price is a burden, feeding it is a burden, and riding it is a burden. And the third is the horse that is kept for livelihood; so it is likely that it will protect him from poverty, if Allah wills.

It is narrated from Hazrat Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the horse is of three kinds: one for Allah, the second for yourself (the owner), and the third for Satan. In any case, the horse for Allah is the one on which one rides to perform jihad. The horse for yourself is the one a person keeps to earn his livelihood. And the horse for Satan is the one on which gambling and betting are done.

Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him), in the explanation of the verse { وَأَعِدُّوا لَہُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ } of the Holy Qur'an, says that it refers to the construction of forts, and { مِنْ رِبَاطِ الْخَیْلِ } refers to female horses.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Goodness has been placed in the forelocks of horses until the Day of Judgment.
