Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked a horse that had three white legs and one leg without white, or the opposite.

Hazrat Masood bin Harash, may Allah have mercy on him, who is the brother of Hazrat Rubee’ bin Harash, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, asked the people of the tribe of Abs: “Which horse do you find to be the most courageous in your battles?” They replied: “The horse that is red and black in color, or a bay-colored horse.”

Hazrat Ata narrates that Hazrat Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: The best horse is the bay-colored one in which the red color is predominant.

Hazrat Musa bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him, may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I wish to put fetters on the feet of a horse, or he said: I want to buy a horse. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In this matter, it is incumbent upon you to choose a horse whose face has whiteness, and whose nose and upper lip are also white, and which is of a bay color, or such a horse that is black and white in color and whose right side is completely clear.
