Imam Shabi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Kufa, he said: I have come for this reason, that the knot which Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) has tied, I may untie it.
Hadith 34175
Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Indeed, even the jinn wept three days before the martyrdom of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and recited these verses: The earth trembles with its tree named 'Azaa' at the separation of the one martyred in Madinah Munawwarah. May Allah Almighty grant the Commander of the Faithful, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), the best of rewards and bless his body. If anyone tries to recount your achievements while riding a mount, he cannot do so. Your judgments are as excellent as the fruit of clusters. I fear that his death will be at the hands of the deceitful, blue-eyed beast (Abu Lulu).
Hadith 34176
Hazrat Zaid bin Wahb (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that two men came to Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him). Then one of them said: How do you recite this verse? So Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him: Who taught you this verse? He said: Hazrat Abu Hakeem Al-Muzani did. And he (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the other: Who taught you this verse? He said: Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) taught me. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You recite as Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) taught you. Then he began to weep until his tears fell upon the pebbles. Then he said: Indeed, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was a strong and firm fortress of Islam, in which Islam entered and did not leave from it. So when Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, a breach appeared in that fortress, so Islam left from it and did not enter it again.
