Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Tawoos narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that I was the last among the people present with Hazrat Umar, and I heard him saying that kalalah is the one who has no children.

Shu'bi narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr said: "I have an opinion regarding kalalah; if it is correct, then it is from Allah, and if it is a mistake, then it is from myself and from Satan. Kalalah are those relatives who are other than children and father."

Hasan bin Muhammad narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to me that kalalah is the one who has neither children nor a father.

Abu Al-Khair narrates that Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir said: Nothing caused the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) as much difficulty as the issue of Kalalah did.

Shu’bah says: I asked Hazrat Hakam about kalalah, so he said: Other than offspring and father.

Qasim narrates that Sa’d bin Malik recited in this way: "Wa lahu akhun, aw ukhtun li-umm."

Saleem bin Abd Salooli narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said that Kalalah are relatives other than children and father.

Sumait narrates that Hazrat Umar used to say that kalalah are relatives other than children and father.

Sufyan bin Husain narrates from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) through a man that "kalalah" refers to a deceased person.
